You wake up every morning looking for your answer
You're waiting for your sign
While Jeremiah's on his way to tell the people
But you watch him pass you by
You walk the streets at night still looking for your reason
But you don't wanna try
You swear the world has got you backed into a corner
But no one holds your hand to walk into a fight

Ding...Ding...Ding...Ding
“No, still a little sharp…”
Adrien Cochrane plucks the bottom string on his acoustic guitar as the electronic guitar tuner still flashing red on the right side of the display. He gently twists the knob on the top of the guitar that corresponds to that specific string to loosen it a little bit before plucking it once more. As he was deactivating the device, he hears the gate opening outside from his seat on the sofa in his living room. The only way it can be opened is by Adrien himself on his phone or someone knowing the gate code.
Adrien: “I wonder who that could be…”
He glances at his watch as he stands up, showing him that it is only a few minutes past nine in the morning in light blue digits. He sets the guitar on the couch, standing it up in the corner so that it is secure and not going to fall down. He pulls back the curtain to his living room window to get a look at who is approaching before immediately recognizing the face he saw in the windshield of the vehicle that was pulling up next to his Mercedes-Benz.
Adrien: “I thought she wasn’t supposed to…”
Adrien’s lips curve into a smile as he watches Everalda Sears-Theron and her grandmother Anza exit what looks to be a 2015 white Honda Accord, even though he wasn’t expecting her flight to get here for another four hours. As surprised as he is, he is always pleased the moment he sees her blonde hair that he can spot almost a mile away. As they assist young Klaus out of his car seat, Cochrane opens the front door to greet them
Adrien: “I thought your flight wasn’t supposed to land until one!”
Everalda: “Surprise! I managed to get Friday off from work, so we flew in early.”
Klaus: “Supwise, Adween!”
Anza chuckles softly and politely bows her head.
Anza: “I apologize if you’re a little unprepared, Mr. Cochrane. It was a last-minute change, but a pleasant one nonetheless.”
Giggling, Klaus toddles up to Adrien and holds his little hands up towards him. It seems like the little man wants to be picked up. Everalda looks on with a hopeful yet knowing little smile.
Everalda: “Somebody wants your attention first.”
The Dropkick King quickly scoops up his girlfriend’s son and lifts him in the air.
Adrien: “Well, isn’t someone getting heavier!!”
Adrien pretends to struggle to keep Klaus airborne. Of course, this is a professional wrestler lifting up a nineteen-month-old. A speed-based wrestler, but a professional wrestler nonetheless…
Adrien: “Looks like someone is growing up! You’re going to be big and strong soon, little one. Before you know it!!”
The New Orleans native smiles as he places Klaus back on the ground. The little toddler giggles and smiles happily so. Adrien opens his arms for his girlfriend to properly greet him. Everalda moves in to finally embrace him, adding a sweet little kiss on the lips. Her sapphire eyes shimmer and her face simply lights up in her boyfriend’s presence. Anza’s smile only grows as she steps forward to face them both. Her great-grandson moves over and she gently lifts him up in her arms.
Anza: “It always brings a smile to my face whenever you two are together like this. Everalda talks about you all the time, young man.”
Everalda: “Grandmama…”
Klaus: “Mommy says ‘Adween is bestest! I wub him! Muah, muah, muah!’”
Everalda blushes brightly and shyly looks away for a moment. Adrien finds her reaction adorable, personally. He lifts one of the bags in the trunk, recognizing it as neither Klaus’s nor Everalda’s, knowing it has to be Anza’s.
Adrien: “Anza, would you like me to show you to the room I have prepared for you?”
Anza: “I would greatly appreciate that, thank you, Adrien.”
Politely, she bows her head and regards her granddaughter as she turns around to face them again. There’s still a subtle red hue on her cheeks, but it’s lighter in color now.
Everalda: “I’ll go ahead and get mine and Klaus’ belongings. Please make yourself at home, grandmama.”
Anza: “I will do so after the conversation we need to talk about.”
The elderly yet spry woman turns to Adrien with a soft smile.
Anza: “Does that sound fair to you, Adrien?”
Adrien had almost forgotten about the talk that Everalda said she needed to have with Adrien. According to her message to him, it was one that also involved Anza and Klaus. Of course, he had something he wanted to run by Everalda that was most likely completely unrelated, but one topic at a time, Adrien thought.
Adrien: “Completely fair. Follow me, Anza.”
His house had two guest bedrooms. The one nearest the front door was prepared by Adrien last night for Anza’s occupancy. He opens the front door, and a second or two later, the door to the guest room.
Adrien: “Hopefully, I can give you a grand tour once we are done talking.”
Anza: “We have all the time in the world. Do not worry.”
She smiles in kind and they set her belongings in the guest bedroom. Everalda brings in hers and her son’s belongings into the house, though there’s not too much to carry as they leave some of their items here. Klaus toddles along, in the midst of learning how to run, but he does trip and fall. However, the super soft plush carpet doesn’t hurt him in the slightest. He simply giggles and gets back to his feet rather quickly. His mother notices this and giggles.
Everalda: “He’s becoming a runner, just like you, dear.”
She makes her way upstairs to put away their belongings in the master bedroom. Their room. A room that she hopes for more. She steps out, softly closes the door, and walks back downstairs. Seeing her son slowly climb onto the first step makes her smile softly.
Everalda: “We’re actually going to be right here in the living room, sweetie. Come on.”
Klaus: “K!”
Both of them meet Adrien and Anza in the living room and take their respective seats. Everalda and Anza actually decide to sit next to each other on the couch while Klaus tries to climb onto the loveseat so he can be with him. Adrien notices this and sits next to him.
Adrien: “Alrighty. There seems to be a pressing matter in which you all want to discuss. So I’m opening the floor to you ladies to bring up whatever topic you believe requires conversation.”
Adrien gestures for the ladies to speak by opening his arms and waving his hands for a second. Anza and Everalda regard each other, simply reading each other without saying a word, before the younger woman nods and speaks up.
Everalda: “Well, a few days ago Klaus and I were enjoying some time by the pool when the complex manager stepped out. We talked for a while and she reminded me that my lease is up next month and kindly extended multiple options for me. I talked to Grandmama and even Klaus joined in our conversation.”
Hearing this, not quite understanding everything, Klaus simply nods and leans against Adrien. Anza nods, and Everalda continues.
Everalda: “What we wanted to discuss with you is simple... Klaus and I would like to move in with you, Adrien.”
She looks to her grandmother and smiles.
Everalda: “And… if so, then I will help Grandmama find a small house nearby. That way she’ll never be too far away and my family continues to stay together. This is simple, but this is still a lot to take in. Please take your time, dear heart.”
Adrien: “Absolutely!”
Everalda and Anza are surprised, but pleasantly so. Adrien shows no hesitation. This requires little to no thought for him. No need to take his time with anything. One of the easiest decisions that Adrien has had to make, to be perfectly honest.
Adrien: “No time necessary. Eddie is great at finding homes for his clients and will happily find Anza someplace to live. This is his backyard, after all. He’ll find somewhere close by for her. And I knew that the moment you were ready to move in, this house was prepared to be yours as well.”
Adrien glances down at Klaus as well.
Adrien: “Both of you.”
Klaus’ turquoise eyes light up and he claps his hands with such excitement. He doesn’t know exactly what’s going on, but he gets to spend more time with his favorite male figure. Everalda smiles brightly while Anza chuckles softly and nods.
Anza: “Then it is decided. Everalda, we will make the arrangements for the move, yes?”
Everalda: “Immediately. I’ll take care of everything, so don’t worry.”
The young mother rises from the couch, walks around the coffee table over to Adrien, and moves in to sweetly, lovingly embrace him. Klaus looks up at them with the cutest little smile.
Adrien: “I mean, you’re going to need me to lift some boxes for you and stuff.”
Adrien chuckles, knowing that wasn’t what she was talking about. He keeps the embrace by glances over to Anza.
Adrien: “I’ll be sure to tell Eddie today than he needs to go house hunting for you.”
Anza: “Thank you very much, Adrien.”
He glances back down at Everalda as their embrace breaks.
Adrien: “Wow. This makes the thing I wanted to discuss with you seem minor.”
Curious, Everalda moves her head back a little, still keeping in close proximity to her boyfriend.
Everalda: “What is it that you wished to discuss, darling?”
Seeing as the important discussion was already completed, Anza rises to her feet and makes her way into the kitchen. Her culinary instincts are beginning to kick in. Meanwhile, Klaus wiggles to be in the middle of his mother and Adrien’s embrace with a happy giggle.
Adrien: “So, it’s mostly just a career thing. I dunno if you were aware, but your sister and I won a match called Warfare where we get opportunities for championships whenever we so choose. And I was beginning to think it might be time for me to make my move…”
There’s a soft shimmer in Everalda’s eyes as she tilts her head, a few strands of her blonde hair falling in front of her right eye.
Everalda: “That was one of the last matches I saw in the DVD Mr. Walker sent me. It was soul intensifying… What is your move, love?”
Adrien takes a deep breath. Telling Everalda means it was no longer an idea but a plan.
Adrien: “WrestleForce. The Heavyweight title. It’s time I become a four-time World Champion.”
You swear the light is gonna find you
But it can't find you when you're waiting all the time
You say, keep my head from going down
Just for a little, just for a little
Watch my feet float off the ground
Just for a little, just for a little
Love, if you can hear this sound
Oh, just give me something,
Something to believe in
