“Winning.”
The moment the camera starts rolling, Adrien Cochrane can be seen standing outside of Lincoln Financial Field. The New Orleans Saints fan standing outside of the very stadium that houses the Philadelphia Eagles was possibly not what anyone was expecting.
“The football team that plays here may not be a team I root for, but my manager does and they did something no one expected them to do once they lost their franchise quarterback...they won the big dance.”
Adrien avoids using the specific name, just in case of trademark patents.
“Though I may not be an Eagles fan, my manager is. And when he saw Carson Wentz go down, he was pretty much thinking about next season. He didn’t think his team was going to do it with Nick Foles. Victory, in his eyes, was out of reach.
“And one might look at this situation I’m in and think the same thing. I just lost in a singles competition to Alex Jones. I gave him a fight that he thought could have ended either way if one small thing changed, but regardless, he was the better wrestler that night. Jessica just lost in a championship match against Damon Graves, with some funky circumstances behind the loss albeit, but it will go down as a loss. So why would the combination of Adrien and Jessica be able to be victorious against the two people we just lost to on the previous show?
“Why would the Eagles win with Nick Foles? Things happen.”
Adrien gives a faint smile. The Dropkick King dons a black hat on his head, a checkered black and gray button down, and a pair of black jeans. The key-shaped necklace hangs from his neck. He steps a bit to the side.
“And if you asked anyone on that squad if they thought their season was over, I bet they would tell you they knew they could still do it. They believed, just like I believe in me and Jessica. And Alex Jones, who has spoken out about the match already, still believes in me and Jessica as a squad, despite the losses we’ve taken, both last week and as a team together. The… win-loss record me and Jessica have built together isn’t pretty.”
There’s a brief pause as Adrien speaks about the success Adrien and Jessica have had as a tag team...or lack thereof. This especially worrisome to Adrien as they are about to team up with one another in a final battle against the Destroyers. In Adrien’s eyes, this match against Alex Jones and Damon Graves was their last chance to make sure they have their chemistry solidified.
“We have to be better. And we will be better. We need to use this opportunity to make sure that we are prepared to work together in the biggest match we have as a group. And I feel like this is one of the best things for us to have on the show before the big Guardians versus Destroyers: a match against two members of the Rebel Society. Because while it may look like a throwaway match to someone who is just looking at the card, but not really paying attention, they don’t see how significant a win against Damon and Alex would be for us.
“They don’t see how important this tag match is to us. Like I said, these are the people that own singles victories over us on the previous show. We have to show that we are prepared that we can overcome our losses against the people they are against. Another thing is that there are three major groups. I am part of the Guardians. We are about to fight the Destroyers. And then there is the Rebel Society, who our opponents represent. If we can somehow pull off victories against the Rebel Society and then go on to defeat the Destroyers. All that talk that the Guardians didn’t have what it takes to finish the job vanishes. All the putting down of my squad, that now consists of people with championships to their names, will dissolve.
“This is an important match, contrary to Alex’s opinion on it. A huge match, even, the way I see it. And we are prepared to do what it takes to make sure we are ready for this match and the next.”
Adrien removes his hat for a brief moment. His blonde hair waves in the Philadelphia breeze. His eyes never leave the camera while he does this.
“Alex Jones clarified his words from last show about me being the face of a franchise. He disagrees with my sentiment that I’m not there yet. Saying it’s not about winning, championships, or even the fact I was standing up to the Destroyers. He says it’s more about the man that I am when I’m in the ring, not so much about all those other things that I’ve said that I haven’t obtained yet. And I understand what you’re coming from, Alex.
“You’re right, the whole point of me stepping into any ring is for the sake of competition. I want to in the end face the best and be the best I can be. I want to prove that I can be one of the best. And you’re right, I have a strict code that I keep myself to. If I have to cheat to be the best, then I’m not. That’s the way I’ve always believed it works. If I have to break the rules to gain a victory, the only person I, in the end, is myself. And that wouldn’t be fair to any opponent, who deserves the chance to have a clean battle from bell to bell.
“But it takes more than just morals to be the face of a company. If the performance isn’t there, what is there? You have to hold yourself to a certain standard when it comes to your ethics to be a face of a company, but you also need to back it up with something a bit more measurable. And I feel like I have an opportunity to have a tangible and quantifiable when WrestleForce comes around. Whether I’m taking on you, Johnny Maverick, or Matthew Shields, that is when I believe I can truly earn that honor. I appreciate the sentiment, Alex, I do. But I feel like I haven’t earned it yet. To me, I don’t deserve it yet.
“But that time is coming soon. And you know what, I hope I make you proud when I finally get there. Believe me, I know that if I manage to pull this off, I will.”
You spend your days alone still hoping for the truth, oh
But all you hear are lies
But no one else is gonna tell you what to do now
No one else is gonna help you hold the line
Sometimes it's hard to keep on living
But you're the one who's got to know just when it's right

You say, keep my head from going down
Just for a little, just for a little
Watch my feet float off the ground
Just for a little, just for a little
Love, if you can hear this sound
Oh, just give me something
Something to believe in
Love, come take me now
You say, keep my head from going down
Just for a little, just for a little
Watch my feet float off the ground
Just for a little, just for a little
Love, if you can hear this sound
Oh, just give me something
Something to believe in
