[Gavin’s Birthday Present]

After breakfast Ash tells Gavin to go take and shower and get dressed while she cleans up. She's excited but nervous and at this point in their relationship he can read her pretty easily. He looks over at her and furrows his brow.
Gavin Grimes: "You seem a bit nervous. Got something big planned huh?"
He says before walking backwards down the hallway, keeping his eyes on hers. She leers at him playfully through her bangs.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Have I ever gone small for your birthday?"
Gavin Grimes: "No! ...Have I?"
He grins and gives her a wink before disappearing. He takes about thirty minutes to shower and get ready because he makes sure that his hair is perfect and that his outfit is the same. Soon enough he walks out all dressed up, wearing his nice black suit and tie and dress shoes. She blinks as her eyes widen.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Uh... why are you dressed like that?"
She's standing there in yoga pants and a hoodie, looking at him like she's seen a ghost.
Gavin Grimes: "Uhhh..."
He grimaces and turns red from embarrassment.
Gavin Grimes: "You said get dressed up, didn't you? Or was it just get dressed? Fuck."
Ashleigh Grimes: "Just dressed..."
She brightens.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I mean you look GREAT but yeah... it's not necessary. Sorry."
She gives a weak little smile.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Oooh, wait! Let me take a picture first!!"
She grabs her phone and sets up to take a picture of him.
Ashleigh Grimes: "So handsome."
He smiles widely and poses.
Gavin Grimes: "I'm such a fucking goof. Don't tell anyone about this!"
She shakes her head.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Why would I?"
She snaps the picture and lowers her phone.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Now go get changed while I post this."
He laughs and rolls his eyes.
Gavin Grimes: "Fine!"
He walks away and comes back five minutes later. He's wearing black baggy pants, a pair of white Jordan's and a Los Angeles Kings Jonathan Quick jersey.
Gavin Grimes: "How about now?"
She gives him a thumbs up.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Perfect, now let's go!"
She takes his hand and pops up on her toes to kiss him for a bit before falling back flat footed and smiling.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I love you."
He wraps his arms behind her before pressing them against her lower back and pulling her into him. He kisses her soft but passionately and lingers in it for a bit before breaking it with a smile and then gazing into her big brown eyes.
Gavin Grimes: "I love you too."
Ashleigh Grimes: "Now let's go!"
She pulls him by the hand out of the apartment, down the elevator and out to her car. Once they're seated she reaches over starts to place a black blindfold over his eyes.
Ashleigh Grimes: "No peeking!"
He can't help it laugh.
Gavin Grimes: "A blindfold!? This is kind of kinky!!"
He says playfully before she lets out a laugh.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I know! My favorite."
She starts the car and turns the radio up as she begins to drive. She makes small talk but she's definitely a little guarded, not wanting to give anything away. Finally the car slows to a stop and he hears her door open.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Remember Gavin, no peeking. Promise?"
He laughs rolls his eyes which she can't see obviously.
Gavin Grimes: "I won't. I promise. I'm so excited!!"
She goes around to his side and opens the door. Taking his hand she leads him out of the car and down what feels like a path. He hears a gate opening, more walking and then another gate. She holds him by the shoulders and positions him so he's face a certain direction.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Okay, open your eyes."
Gavin Grimes: "Wait where are we? Why do I hear gates opening?"
He laughs.
Gavin Grimes: "And my eyes are open! You take off the blindfold!"
He says playfully.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Oh! Right..."
She removes the blindfold and the bright light makes it difficult to see. After some squinting his eyes finally adjust and he realizes he's staring at a basketball hoop. In fact he's standing on the clay of an outdoor court, staring up at a hoop beyond which lies a chain link fence, some palm trees and rolling hills. She then shoves a ball into his hands.
Ashleigh Grimes: "So? What do ya think?"
He looks down at the ball in surprise and then back up her.
Gavin Grimes: "Wait? What is this? You want to play me one on one??"
He grins widely. She laughs and shakes her head.
Ashleigh Grimes: "No, boring ball is your sport. Take a shot though. See if you like the way it feels."
He dribbles the ball around before walking up to the three point line and standing there. He pauses to glance back at Ash.
Gavin Grimes: "Alright, here goes!"
He looks back at the rim and shoots a three and of course, he swishes it. He pumps his arm in the air like he just hit a buzzer beater before turning back towards Ash.
Gavin Grimes: "Felt great! I still got it!!"
Ash was beside him the entire way, therefore preventing any turning back, only turning to his left to look at her. Once he hits the shot she smiles and pumps her hands in the air before reaching forward, grabbing his face and planting a kiss on his lips. When the kiss finishes she holds his gaze for a moment before letting go with her hands.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Now turn around."
His brow furrows and he laughs.
Gavin Grimes: "Turn around? What else could there be?"
He laughs and turns. When he turns he finds that the full size outdoor basketball court he's standing in is part of an amazing mansion complete with all glass walls in the back overlooking an infinity pool, a stone patio and an outdoor BBQ area. The house is stunning from his vantage point in the backyard.
He feels her chin rest on his shoulder from behind.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Happy birthday, baby."
He stares at everything in amazement, the basketball dropping from his hands. When she says happy birthday, he snaps out of his shock.
Gavin Grimes: "Wait.. What is all this!?"
He turns back and grabs Ash's shoulders as he looks into her eyes.
Gavin Grimes: "This isn't ours, is it? It can't be. You're kidding, right? This? For my birthday!?"
She smiles brightly.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Um... kind of. I put a down payment in and we're officially the owners. I mean I'm not going to be able to afford the mortgage on my own but together we can make it work. Believe it or not it was a foreclosure so we got a pretty a good price. I had Oswald take care of all the particulars so yes, this is your birthday pre that you will have to continue to help me pay for over the next 30 years."
She laughs again.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I was going to buy you a car but this... this seemed like a bigger step in the right direction. Plus it has a freakin' basketball court."
He wraps his arms around her before grabbing her ass and pulling her into him before he just starts making out with her. He breaks the kiss and leans his forehead down onto hers and can't stop smiling.
Gavin Grimes: "You're fucking amazing. Seriously, I love you so fucking much. This is the best gift ever."
She grins and nods while biting her bottom lip.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I know. I win. There's no topping this."
Gavin Grimes: "You always win."
He steals another kiss.
Gavin Grimes: "There's no topping marrying you. That's the greatest gift you've ever given me and I won't ever top it. I love you so much, babe. I can't even... I don't know what to fucking say. This is insane."
Ashleigh Grimes: "We've got a lot of work in front of us. It's a lot to furnish. The previous owners left some stuff but we need to make it our own. So it's a good thing you're making some serious coin again... and I've set up some photo shoots and promotional gigs to do my fair share."
He smiles and nods.
Gavin Grimes: "Of course. This is ours. The rest of our lives. Our kids are going to grow up here. I'll teach them how to hoop on this court. We'll have BBQ's every Sunday and invite their friends over."
He sighs happily before smiling at the thought of it all.
Gavin Grimes: "But in the meantime, you'll be serving me lemonade poolside in the sexiest, most revealing bikini of all time."
He grins before biting his lip. She laughs before taking his hand.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Slow your roll there, Mr. Bond."
She leads him into the kitchen that's got a beautiful quartz countertop with stools. The counter is set for a candlelight dinner. Ash smiles over at him.
Ashleigh Grimes: "I hired a chef to cook for us tonight and I put an air mattress on the floor in the master bedroom. We're staying here tonight. I already packed bags for both of us ahead of time."
Gavin Grimes: "Wow."
He takes a seat on a stool and looks around.
Gavin Grimes: "This is all amazing. I can't believe you did all of this."
He sighs happily.
Gavin Grimes: "It's going to be fun staying here tonight in our new home. Fuck, it's where we're going to spend the rest of our lives."
She nods.
Ashleigh Grimes: "It is. You should take a tour!!"
He grabs her hand as he stands up.
Gavin Grimes: "You wanna be my tour guide or what?"
She smiles, practically giddy.
Ashleigh Grimes: "Of course!!"
They tour throughout the house which is practically a mansion and it takes quite sometime. Eventually they get to the end of the tour of the house, which ends at the master bedroom and he can't help but smile.
Gavin Grimes: "Jesus Christ, babe, this is insane. I can't believe it. This is just... wow, it's surreal. I never would've thought of this in a million years. I love you so much."
She leans in close and holds herself against him.
Ashleigh Grimes: "It's what's next for us. We worked hard and we deserve the best, though we already get that with each other."
He looks around the room and sighs as his eyes get glassy with tears but he doesn't say a word, he’s clearly emotional by the whole thing. She just holds him close as they both stand in their new bedroom in their new home in silence.
