This wasn't your basic Tuesday night for Blair. Usually she'd be at home, relaxing with Xavier or playing games on her laptop but this Tuesday her twin brother, Blain, was in town. So she found herself sitting at the bar of Crown and Anchor. One of her typical bars that she frequented in Vegas. On the stool next to her sat Blain, the pair playing Keno on the bar top games, each with a glass of beer in front of them.
“Sucks that Tabs was feeling sick. Hope she feels better before you guys head back to Helsinki.”
“I'm just glad she was able to meet the family before the food poisoning hit.”
Blair nodded a bit at her brother.
“We could have canceled the outing you know.”
“Nah, she told me she didn't want me to do that. Besides its tradition when I come out to have a sibling drinking night.”
Blain laughed a little, looking around the bar, his eyes stopping on the door of the place as it opened up. Blair's gaze moved over to that door as well just in time to see Angel and Court walk in.
“You guys are late!”
She shouted out to her younger sisters as they made their way over to the bar. Angel sitting next to Blain and Court taking a seat next to Blair. Angel shrugging at the comment not really caring much as she ordered herself a long island ice tea.
“Xavier and Gabe aren't here yet either so we must not be all that late.”
Court's mention of Xavier caused Blain to grumble under his breath.
“Oh stop it. He ain't going anywhere so you better get used to him.”
“Yeah yeah.”
“Besides, you think he's bad just you wait until you meet the oldest one.”
“Can't wait…”
Blain spoke in a sarcastic tone.
“I can't wait either.”
Court piped in, in more of an excited tone. Almost as if on cue, Xavier and Gabriel found themselves making their way into that establishment, Alaina following along behind them. Xavier stopped for a moment, looking around to find who they were looking for. The smirk growing on his face showed he did just that.
At about that time, Gabriel noticed as well, the two sharing a silent nod as they walked in the direction of their company. Once within fair distance, Xavier snuck up behind Blair as she sat at the bar, throwing his arms around her.
“My love~”
Gabriel followed suit, though not quite as enthusiastically as his younger brother. A single arm wrapped around the small of Court’s back as he leaned slightly into her.
“Hey.”
As they were occupied with their hellos, Alaina made her way off to the side slightly, finding a seat not too far but not too close to their gathering. As the group entered and made their presence known Angel seemed to veer off a bit, not really interested in what was going on around her, looking over to where Alaina decided to sit down.
“That one is the only one that has the right idea about all this. Sit in a corner and hopefully no one will notice.”
Angel’s words were laced with disinterest as she spoke them. On the other hand Blair got a big grin on her face as soon as she felt Xavier’s arms around her, turning in her seat to wrap her arms back around him.
“Sweets!”
Blain made a bit of a fake gagging sound but before he could fire off any words he noticed Gabe wrap his arm around Court and lean into her. Blain’s eyes narrowed a bit as Court leaned back into Gabe.
“Hey.”
She gave him the same greeting that he gave her, Blain watching the exchange closely.
“Oh that’s just great.”
Blain’s tone took on a bit of annoyance. Gabriel heard the tone Blain spoke, his arm dropping off of Court, almost turning his attention to him before hearing Xavier speak up.
“What's goin on, Bit…Blain?”
A look of obviously faked cheer showed on the face of Laroux as he turned his head to look at Blain, that smirk growing across his features.
“Hm..”
Turning his attention away from those two, Gabriel couldn't help but to notice Alaina sitting off to the side with Angel. Not quite sure how to feel about that, he returned his attention to Court, letting his arm wrap back around her.
“Are we late?”
Blair looked between them all as the exchange went on and sighed out, shaking her head back and forth.
“If you two start up I’m gonna strategically get up from my seat and leave the bar for a bit… Whatever happens happens. Basically what I’m saying is don’t start. Done protecting your ass.”
The last bit was directed at her brother as she said it. Blain looked to Xavier and gave a bit of a glare for a moment.
“Fine… I won’t give your husband a hard time… that one however. I’d appreciate it if you detached yourself from my baby sister.”
Once hearing that, Xavier visibly tightened his hold on Blair for just a moment, locking eyes with Blain as he did so. That smirk growing just a bit larger, he laughed a bit before turning his attention to the one behind the bar.
“Can we get some drinks or are we here just to shoot the shit?”
Court rolled her eyes at the whole thing, tuning out her older brother and looking up to Gabe with a bit of a smirk.
“Only a little bit but so were me and Angel. Besides, showing up on time is the responsible thing to do, not exactly up your alley.”
A look of obviously feigned offense grew across the face of Gabe, looking down to Court with a scoff.
“I happen to be very responsible. It's just..I surround myself with so many already responsible people, I have to lighten up a bit or things will be too stuffy.”
It was hard to tell if he actually believed what he was saying or if he was being an ass as per usual. But either way, he looked down to her with a slight smile.
“I've never heard you complain though.”
“If you're responsible I'm the queen of england.”
Court laughed some before leaning against Gabe with a smirk.
“But you're right, I don't complain but that's because I happen to like you just the way you are you frustrating ass.”
Blair watched the two for a moment before looking back at her brother.
“I don't think they even realize anyone else is here at this point. Seems useless to try to converse with em.”
“Out of all the people my sisters can attract they pick Laroux’s. Except Angel, she got a good one. Thank god for the Joseph balance.”
Blair shot Blain a bit of a look before taking a drink of her beer, deciding to remain silent about that one.
“Maybe if there was more of a Joesph balance before me, you wouldn't have anything to worry about.”
Shaking his head, Laroux grabbed up one of the beers, taking a long drink from it, sighing contently as he felt it go down.
“But speakin of balance, where's Helen Kellar?”
A slight tilt of the head as Xavier looked out the corner of his eye towards Blain. Blair sighed out and turned back around to face her keno machine, deciding to take a page from Angel's book and tune out the chatter. Blain on the other hand didn't look amused at all.
“Don't know who you're talking about. How about for once in your life you just keep your mouth shut for a while? Think that'd be a great idea.”
A look of skepticism grew across the face of Xavier as he shook his head. Another long drink taken from that bottle as he kept on.
“Y’know..Helen Kellar, the deaf, dumb, and blind chick. As in, she'd hafta be to be interested in you.”
Despite not being apart of it, Alaina kept her attention focused on what was going on between Xavier and Blain, unable to fight the growing feeling of nervousness.
“Kusipää…”
Blain muttered under his breath as he turned to look at Xavier but before he could go on Blair turned around in her seat and stood up.
“You know… It ain't too much to ask for, for the two most important men in my life to at least pretend they like each other for a few fleeting fucking moments. He's barely ever in town.”
She let out a frustrated sigh and shook her head.
“I get like five days a week to actually be at home before I gotta fly here there and everywhere. Not to mention working out between that. Do what you two gotta to get the fuck over it. Blain, he isn't going anywhere, I married him. Deal with it.”
Looking at Xavier.
“And that motherfucker was born five minutes before me. He's not gonna drop out of my life because you don't like him. Shit happens, let the past be the past.”
“I've tried to let shit go. It's this fuck who can't get off my ass long enough to let me wipe it. Youda thought his new thing woulda been enough but guess the fuck not.”
Xavier shrugging his shoulders, he turned his attention to the bartender.
“Lemme get some vodka shots, plenty.”
Without questioning, they went to work at getting them ready. A bit curious about the words he heard from the three, Gabriel couldn't help but to stand up straight, his arm leaving Court’s back as he stepped up next to Xavier.
He looked Blain up and down, his blank expression not really showing a reaction to the man. Hearing the sound of the tray being set down, he reached over only to grab one up, extending it towards Blain.
“I'm going to assume there's no trouble being started over here.”
Wearily Blain took a shot and downed it quickly, a sigh escaping after.
“Not at the moment. Keep the drinks flowing and I'm sure we'll be the best of friends by the end of the night.”
The last bit came out more sarcastic as Blair reached over and grabbed a shot in each hand, downing both of them.
“I hate men…”
She muttered under her breath before looking to Gabe.
“And if you go after him I'll kick your sister lovin ass.”
Gabe sat that tray back down onto the surface of the bar, shrugging his shoulders as he turned away from them.
“Whatever. Maybe next time, I won't try and help the issue.”
Walking away, grumbling a few choice words under his breath, he made his way back over to Court, his arm slipping around the small of her back, choosing to continue to stand rather than taking a seat.
Once more, Xavier shook his head before grabbing up one of those shots, downing it quickly. Then another. And another before finally pushing away from the bar, making his way over to sit next to Alaina.
As Gabe returned to Court's side she leaned into him, nuzzling against his neck a bit.
“Don't let her make you grumpy, she's probably on edge cause of all the traveling around and the arguments and stuff. Just ignore it, even though that face is just oh so adorable.”
Reaching up Court pinched Gabe's cheek, a bit of a shit eating grin on her face after.
“...”
He tilted his head down, looking at her with a lowered head as he shook his head. But instead of saying something, he laughed a bit, kissing the top of her head.
Blair watched as Xavier walked away and sighed, taking her seat next to Blain and looking over at him with a bit of an annoyed expression on her face.
“You're a dick. You're happy right? Can you just let the grudge go? Its got my man halfway across the room on one of the few nights I actually get to spend with him.”
“Fine.”
Blain caved, a soft sigh leaving his lips as he looked around the room at where everyone was before his attention returned to Blair.
“I'll try my best.”
As he sat there, Xavier couldn't help but to look over at Blair, sighing slightly. Reclining back in that chair, he looked up at the ceiling above him. Alaina shook her head as she reached forward, grabbing his tanktop to pull him back onto all legs of that chair.
“Go back.”
Xavier couldn't help but to laugh as he got back up from his chair, making his way back over towards Blair, who noticed him heading back over almost instantly. A soft smile on her lips as he approached.
“Hey you.”
She reached out and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close. Instead of a disgusted look or any kind of gagging sound coming from Blain, he leaned forward on the bar, getting the bartender's attention.
“Bring over a bottle of the best tequila you got back there and a couple shot glasses.”
The bartender brought the glasses and bottle over in a hurry, setting them down in front of Blain who reached out, grabbed the bottle and filled the glasses. He extended one out to Xavier.
“Let's start this shit over in a good way.”
Looking down at that drink, he thought about it for a moment before accepting it and bringing it up.
“Gladly.”
A single nod of his head as he brought the glass to his lips, downing it with a content sigh to follow. After setting it down onto the bar, he wrapped his arm around Blair, holding her close.
“This isn't just some..thing. We were friends for years before all this. I actually went through with the wedding thing. I mean, I'll do whatever it takes to see her smile. You really don't have anything to worry about. Now that..”
He motioned his head behind them towards Gabe and Court causing Blain to look back at the pair.
“Iunno bout all that, but he says he's doing it right and I'm taking his word for it. It's all I can do.”
“Babysteps. I'll figure out that one later. According to my sister there's been enough shit going on tonight.”
After saying that Blain downed his shot as Blair relaxed against Xavier.
“I don't trust it… I dunno I mean, its Vegas guess we can gamble on it.”
Blair laughed a little looking back at Gabe and Court.
“He's a major asshole though.”
She spoke that sentence rather loudly, looking directly at Gabriel as she said it. Flashing him an innocent smile.
Gabe brought his head up, pulling it away from Court long enough to shoot a shit eating grin at Blair.
“I could always drag your sister off to a dark corner and do things to her instead.”
Moving his head back down to Court’s, he brought his hands around to wrap around her, a slight smirk growing across his features.
“But I'm sure you'd like that.”
Instead of verbally responding to what Gabe had said Court bit down on her lower lip, a slight nod of her head causing Blair to facepalm.
“Can you not?”
Blain looked over clearly not happy with what had been said and nodded his head.
“Yeah, I’m down with the no idea as well. From what both of them have said I can’t condone that behavior at all.”
Court looked over at Blain with a raised eyebrow.
“If you couldn’t control what Blair decided to sleep with you sure as hell won't get anywhere with me on that front. You aren’t my dad and even if you were I still wouldn’t listen.”
“I don't remember ever needing anyone to condone my actions. And as a matter of fact..”
Icing on the cake, Gabe let his hands drift up before cupping Court’s breasts through her shirt, squeezing as a grin grew across his features, eyes locked over at Blain.
“I'll just guess that you don't condone this either?”
Xavier grabbed up a shot off of that tray, drinking it down before shaking his head.
“Nope.”
Rising up, he felt up his own pockets, looking for that pack of cigarettes.
“Time for some air.”
Seeing what just happened Blair reached into the pocket of her jeans, taking out her pack of smokes and looking at Xavier.
“Yeah, definitely good time for some air.”
Hooking his arm in hers, he nodded eagerly, starting to lead her towards the exit.
“All on them, ain't havin none of it.”
Xavier spoke that last bit before him and Blair headed outside the bar.
