*The Hollywood Walk of Fame. Avery Miles III visits various stars, and stops at a fairly recognizable name; Elvis Presley. He bends down, and touches the star. Known as “The King”. A man so talented, he could sing country, pop, gospel, and blues. Avery stands up and decides this is a great location for a little blurb for his opponent, Tiger Mask Red.*
Avery: The Hollywood Walk of Fame. A place where the famous get recognized. Radio. Television. Movies. Music. And so much more. A place where you are literally given a star plaque that is shown to the world. People that have a star have earned their place. And are to be given respect. This is something that I deserve as well. Accolades. Recognition. The respect of the roster. But instead, I continue to defeat opponents as they come up one by one, and yet I am still standing. But this match holds a special place for me. And it all starts a short year ago. This is El Gran Anniversario. But May the First of 2016 I started my journey here in Lucha against the very same opponent. Tiger Mask Red. It was the first round of the Super Falcon Cup, and coming into the match I am sure that I was a nobody to everyone. And by the end of that day, it was I that was victorious. A Double Flip Shooting Star Press. That is how I began this whole journey. And in almost eleven months later I have received just about all of the awards that I could. I was part of the Match of the Year. I was the Guerrero of the Year. And I was one of the two Booker’s Choice for 2016. Plus, I won the Rey de Reyes Title on October 31st and still continue my reign. 144 days, and counting. This easily passes La Cucaracha’s measly 89 days. And come May the First of 2017, I will have held this title for 182 days. More than double that of my predecessor.
*He smiles prouds of his accomplishments, before the smile goes sour.*
Avery: And yet, the man that I beat in the first round of the Super Falcon Cup is the first ever Guerreros of Lucha Hall of Famer. Give me a damn break. I should be the first ever Hall of Famer. While I am an active champion. No one has been able to come close to what I’ve done in this damn company. And yet, everyone knows Mr. Tiger Mask Red.
*He scowls at the camera and then gives his teeth a slight suck*
Avery: But all of that ends in just a couple of days. This match will bring it all home to me. I will do what I did once before, and put down the oh-so loved Tiger Mask Red. He said that he wanted this match a couple of times on social media. And I read you loud and clear, Red. I don’t care about your journey. Or retirement. Nor do I even care about what people treated you like in the past. This is about now. This is about you and I. And this is about cementing myself as The Main Event in this company. Simply put. You are a never was. And I am the “It.”

OFF CAMERA - FLASHBACK
*Avery Miles III is booked in an Internet Championship for the local Southern California promotion. This is his first real shot at making a statement to show how much he has learned over the past few months. A quick learner, Avery trained in Mexico for some time and developed his skills. Now touring SoCal and surrounding areas, Avery is traveling to Campo, California for the first time. This was their version of a television title; the matches would be uploaded to YouTube and that is how the small company could gain some exposure. After a long night, Avery finally arrives to the VFW Post where the show would take place later in the day. He was to wrestle the Cali Butcher for the title. Francis Armstrong, the man behind the mask, was a veteran of the ring. He was the promoter’s best friend. It was time for the promotion to put some gold on some upcoming talent, and Avery happened to be the lucky man. He arrived just in time to help ring setup. He grabbed his stuff and headed inside*
Promoter: Hey Miles. Looks like you got here just in time. The boys are ready for setup. Drop your stuff and help setup. Afterwards, meet me in the back office and we can discuss the match.
Avery: You got it, Les.
*Les Young. A man that was easily ten years too old to be too old. A man of gray, stringy hair that would talk you down without you realizing it. A mile a minute, his mouth could get out of situations before he physically could escape them. After some time setting up the ring, and testing it out. Setting up rows of folding chairs and getting concessions going, Avery headed into the back office.*
Avery: Hey Les. All setup. Looks good. We on par for a good night?
Les: We are nearly sold. We may sell some standing room is the fire marshal gets a little grease himself. But we should clear all tickets, and payouts for the boys.
Avery: Awesome. And again. Putting the title on me. I appreciate it so much. I’ve worked my ass off-
Les: Sit down Miles.
*Avery takes a seat*
Les: So listen. I was talking to Frank.
*Frank was short for Francis. Only his mother calls him Francis.*
Les: We appreciate what you’ve done. We know it’s a bit of a drive for you. And that you make sure to get here on time. We notice that.
Avery: But…
Les: Frank is the draw. He draws the people in. He gets the heat. They want to see him cheat. They want to see him win dirty. We give the people what they want. We just gotta play the game, kid.
Avery: What are you saying, Les?
Les: We aren’t going to put the title on you, kid. Sorry.
Avery: Les. Come on man. I’ve worked-
Les: I know, I know. Frank decided to give the champ’s bonus to you still for this show.
Avery: But not in the future?
Les: Well… you see. He will be the champ.
Avery: Come on, Les. What can I do-
Les: Your job. Go out there. Put on a hell of a show. And you’ll get your turn. You’ll get a go. Just give it time.
Avery: I’ve given it time-
Les: More time. Now get back out there and help get the merch table ready. We open door in a couple of hours.
Avery: Okay. But you mean it. Soon, right?
Les: Sooner than soon. You have my word.
*With that Avery nodded and had faith in the fact that he would get a go at the title. He did his job. He put on one hell of a show. He helped the tear down and clean up. He went home with the loss. But the satisfaction that he did everything in his power to make the fans get as much for their money as possible*

Avery: I am glad to be getting some distance from him. I can't believe he asked for his release. Whatever.
Avery puts his arm around her.
Avery: So glad to be home. I am exhausted.
Taylor’s smile fades.
Taylor: Avery, you are being childish. You know why LJ left NGW and you even said you supported him. His father was dying. This vendetta you have is ridiculous especially considering how much him and Emma have been there for us. And for the record, LJ left because he wants to regroup. He told me when he dropped off this basket that he needs to reevaluate his life goals. I do not like this new thing you are doing. Not at all.
Avery: Okay.
He avoids the issue at hand. Taylor recognizes when her husband is avoiding an argument and decides that for posterities sake she would drop it for now. Despite his actions in Redemption nothing would change how much she loved him. She puts her hand on top of his. She felt like a house lately. He rubs over her hand. Taylor reaches up to put a hand on his cheek.
Taylor: Is there something else on your mind? You know you can talk to me.
Avery: Not really.
Taylor: Just don't lose sight of who you are baby. I know you want to be a champion in Redemption but that isn't all there is. Everything you are and stand for holds more weight than a title.
Avery: I need to stand up for me for a chance. Don't worry. I am still the same me. And I love you as much as ever. And our little ones. All four of them.

Avery: Getting a little rest and relaxation before our match this weekend. I’ve been on the go as of late. Matches every month with Lucha. Tour of Japan in Redemption. But it is always important to take a day to enjoy the view.
*Avery sits on a bench as the ferris wheel spins, giving adults and children alike a ride. The sun is beginning to set as Avery slides off his sunglasses*
Avery: Red. You wanted this match. I am glad that we both got this. I am going to be able to win and put you behind me. Now don’t get me wrong. I know better than to look past an opponent. That is something that has long been done to me. No, no, no. I am smarter than that.
*He taps the side of his head three or four times*
Avery: This match might be a challenge for you. A chance for glory. A chance to hold the top title in a company that went out on a limb to give you Hall of Fame status. But for me, this is personal. This is about rubbing it in the faces of the powers that be that no matter WHO or WHAT they throw at me. Avery Miles comes out on top. One. Two. Three. They can give me on opponent. They can give me two opponents. Or they can have me wrestle my way to the finals of a tournament and beat people representing various companies. The thing is, what did you do to earn this shot? Because as far as I can tell, you have not been around for a little bit. Or was the brass monkeys in charge of booking ‘round here hoping for a miracle when I defeated their last round of lackeys. I said it last show, but let’s revisit again. Shall we?
*Avery pulls out a folded piece of paper. There are names written on it with check marks*
Tiger Mask Red ✓
Aidan Carlisle ✓
Mr. Rottentreats ✓
La Cucaracha ✓
Amy-Jo Smyth ✓
Nirvana ✓
El Gran Jefe Rosario ✓✓
Helena Noir ✓
Avery: I’ve beaten names for various promotions. Plus, I’ve even beat a so-called legend in Nirvana. So honestly, what are you going to bring to the table that none of them have? What are you going to do?
*He begins to laugh as he folds the paper, putting it back into his pocket*
Avery: Come on, Red. We both know that you will the second name on the list to get a double check mark. Ask “The Boss” how it feels to be a part of that club. Oh, that’s right.. He is busy dealing with Noir again hoping for a CHANCE in this year’s Super Falcon Cup. The same cup that a student of MINE is taking part in.
*He offers a wink*
Avery: She might not be me, but I am sure that she picked up a thing or two. You will lose, tuck tail, and disappear again. This company has become a revolving door of losers that cannot match me and leave. It is becoming the narrative around these parts. And we both know that you bring nothing new to the table. So let’s go ahead and just make this easy on yourself. Lay down on the mat. Give me the easy three count. And I will let you walk away with some dignity. Otherwise… I hope you are ready for round two. Same result as the first.
*Avery slides the sunglasses back on and stands up. He walks off camera as the video comes to and end*
