“How are you feeling?”
That is a question that has been posed to me countless times over the past couple of weeks. Initially, I wasn’t sure how I felt, how I was supposed to feel.
Part of my brain told me that I should have been furious. Now that I’ve had time to think and digest things, fury would have been a very apt emotion to display. We all are wrestlers in a highly combative and competitive sport. This means that no matter how good you think you might be, no matter how great you might actually be, you’ll suffer adversity. No one is perfect in the ring; everyone will suffer a loss—it’s apart of wrestling’s very nature.
Nonetheless, to lose a match because of someone’s insecurities? To lose a match because of complete and utter bullshit? That’s unacceptable in my books.
In truth, I have had every right to be furious, every right to be hostile. Had I lashed out, I doubt people would have been shocked.
…And yet, I have not. That’s not the person I am. You see, if I stoop down to such low level, to such grimy depths, than how am I any better than Mr. Shields?
Exactly.
Now that I’ve had ample amount of time to think about things, I can clearly say this—I’m not mad. Am I a bit annoyed? Certainly. Am I a bit frustrated? Yes, indeed. Just about every time I’ve gotten close to a championship here in Redemption Wrestling, a person’s wicked cowardice as cost me that much need win.
I’m getting tired of it; I truly am.
However, I’m not mad. I’m not mad because I proved something out there at Ultimate Resolve. You see, everyone praised Matthew Shields for his title reign. And, is it impressive? Yes, yes it is—no one can really deny that fact.
However, now there will always be an asterisk next to his championship reign. No one can ever truly call him the best wrestler in this company, because he couldn’t defeat me on his own. Oh, he had the chance to do so during the Global Cup—he failed to do so. He had the chance to do so at Ultimate Resolve—but instead, he chose to rely on his woman’s aid.
Mr. Shields, you can try to boost yourself up. You may try to justify the outcome by saying that you are still the champion. Do whatever you need to do in order to sleep comfortably at night...
Nevertheless, facts are facts! And those facts revealed the true nature of Redemption’s so-called King—a man who holds no honor.
I can’t be that upset at you Mr. Shields, because sooner or later, you’ll going to fall. And when you do, your entire world will come crashing down. And, you’ll have no one but yourself to blame.
You reap what you sow, my good man.
—However, that’s enough talk about the past. Let’s look towards the future, shall we not?
On the next edition of Glory, I’m tasked with squaring off against Danny Hall. Now, that name may some foreign to some people out there. However, that name is not foreign to me, not at all. Personally, I’m more familiar with his time in Blazenwing Wrestling, where he is damn near a legend. Nonetheless, he is a man who has traveled all across the planet, honing his craft. His talent and skill is something I can get behind.
Mr. Hall, first off, I’d like to welcome you here to Redemption Wrestling. However, I can certainly assure you that your debut match won’t be grand entrance that you are probably anticipating.
You’re probably expecting to come in and make an instant impact. You’re probably expecting to come in and face a man who doesn’t have his wits about him…
Unfortunately, you’d be mistaken, good sir.
Instead, you’ll be facing a man who is even more focused than he was a few weeks ago. To be perfectly honest, you’ll be facing a man who is hell-bent on ruining your introduction to this company. I’m getting a bit sick of people trying to step on my back and neck to climb up the ladder.
...I will do everything in my power to make sure you don’t do the same.
So, once again Mr. Hall, welcome to Redemption Wrestling. I truly hope that your stay here will be enjoyable. I also hope that you are ready for a fight, because that’s exactly what your first match here will be.
