Lilly Parker stands in line at a counter. After a few seconds, she gets handed two ice cream cones. Lilly smiles and thanks the attendant in Japanese. It's obvious that since she first came to Japan she has picked it up rather quickly, a sure fire indication of her intelligence.
She makes her way outside to sit on the curb. The two ice creams look different from each other. She smiles again.
“Look at these two cones. I have asked for two scopes of different ice cream in both. In this one....”
She holds up one cone.
“Black Cherry and Sunny Lemon. Now you would think these two ice creams would not taste good together but I'm going to try it.”
She leans forward, taking a long lick across both flavours. She takes a minute to assess the different flavours in her mouth.
“hmmm. It's actually really tasty. A sweetness that is subtle and the tartness of the lemon... they compliment each other.”
She takes another lick.
“It’s kinda like me and Mr. Martin being a team. You would never think that two people like us would ever work as a team but we compliment each other. Mr. Martin is a technical wrestler where as I rely more on aerial and quick movements. He is dark and brooding and me... well I am sunshine-y happy. Although it doesn't seem likely that we would make a good team but you might be surprised by that old adage about opposites attracting.”
She looks now at the second cone.
“Peanut Butter.” she points to the light brown scoop on top.
“And Peanut Butter cookie dough.” she points to the one underneath it.
“You can't go wrong with peanut butter right?”
She takes a lick. She swallows and then takes a sign.
“Almost everyone likes Peanut butter. But too much of it and it's just too much, you know? Courtney & Caroline are cut from the same cloth. They think that they have to be arrogant, saucy and nasty to get ahead. It seems to be what a lot of people expect of women in this industry. It's about showing off your body and then having a big mouth. My Gram says girls like that are insecure. That they don't have confidence to just be themselves. You might ask how does this relate to Peanut Butter? Peanut Butter is nothing but good. Well I don't believe anyone is bad. Deep down I think everyone is a super awesomtastic person. When Peanut Butter is mixed with Jelly, or bananas you get the best of both. The flavours compliment each other. So I think if Courtney cut out some of her peanut butter and added some banana... she would probably be a fantastic person instead of a grouchy mcgrouchison. You think that she would be a much nicer person now that she got married.”
She shrugs and dumps the double PB ice cream in the garbage.
“I also think that if she realized that sometimes you lose matches because you just couldn't best your opponent she wouldn’t be so hateful. Hate is like cancer. But I think I have said that before. If you don't treat it, it just grows and invades. It then destroys your entire body if left unchecked. I earned my shot at the young lions title. And when I beat Courtney already, it earned me a spot in that match to begin with. I will not let someone fuelled by hate take away something I worked hard to earn. Whether I face her or Mr. Starling, I am going to give it everything I have. No shortcuts. When I become a champion, I will be one that people can be proud to have represent them.”
She takes another lick of her original ice cream.
“I welcome the challenge of facing Courtney & Caroline and unlike them, I can win matches without hitting people with titles or weapons and I certainly do not need to hold the tights of a well respected ring veteran to make a point. I would never be proud of a win I didn't earn. So good luck ladies. Hopefully the bad taste of losing doesn’t continue to stick to the roof of your mouths.”
She waves with a big smile before the camera fades out.
