Good morning. I am in Los Angeles as I speak. In truth, it’s been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to stop in and visit the City of Angels Wrestling Dojo. So, I thought it would only be fitting that I pay my trainer and the students a visit.
—Hmmm, my apologies. I forgot to introduce myself. A wrestler must always remember that his or her name is a brand; therefore, one must be mind of his or her audience. For those of you all who do not know my name, I am Yujiro Fujiwara…
You know, I’ve walked this earth almost thirty-three years; and, I’ve wrestled about five or six years. Th during the course of my career, I’ve had a gaggle of wonderful bouts, as do most people.
1. Early on in my career, I had the fortunate opportunity of being in the right place at the right time. UWA was the perfect breeding ground for me. The company and young and hungry, just as I was. I captured their world championship on two separate occasions, and instantly created a name for myself, not only in that company, but in the sport itself.
2. During my first two years, the “God of Wrestling” tournament popped up. I was tasked with representing UWA in it. Unlike the Redemption commentators mistaken remark on air, I truly was a young man back then. That would have made me twenty-five or twenty-six, if I’m not mistaken. Regardless, I entered this jam packed tournament filled with all of the industries great stars. I did not win, but I did advance pretty far in it.
3. Lastly, I had the honor of fighting my mentor, Flex Johnson, over in a placed called XDF. It was a pretty match, not by any means. However, it was one that I’ll always remember.
And now, I think I’ve earned the right to add this Global Cup to that short list. I think it’s well deserved, yeah?
Professional wrestling is a dog-eat-dog sport. That mentality makes it a haven for heathens. However, that mentality also makes the sport great. That mentality fosters competition, and that’s what this sport is based upon, right?
That being said, most people think I had a chance in hell of winning the first round this tournament, much less going on to win the whole thing. My back was against the wall.
Nonetheless, as a competitor, as a man, I stepped up.
Now, most people who be on Cloud Nine. Most people would have their mind solely fixated on Ultimate Resolve. However, I am not most people.
I’m not a fool, Ms. Graves. I know of your talent. I know of your skills. You've built up a mighty name and reputation for yourself here in Redemption. And just a last week you were competing for the FSociety Championship on the company’s largest pay-per-view.
...I’d be remiss to simply look past you.
Please be clear, Ms. Graves, I’m not using this match as spring-board. And in truth, to me, this match isn’t even about momentum. I view this bout as I view most—two intense warriors clashing. Two prime wrestlers going out there to prove who is better on that given night.
My match with Mr. Shields might as well be seventy-five years away, because right now, you are the only person in my sights.
