THE JEW BLAZER
Last Week on Liberty Island
Last Week on Liberty Island
-Present Day. On-camera.-
"I thought I was the only superhero in this company! This is a potential disaster!" The Jew Blazer says to his pal Johnny Maverick. Ronnie North had stayed behind in the states as he had to finish filming 'The Bi Bi Girl', a porn parody of terrible new horror film 'The Bye Bye Man'. Johnny and The Jew Blazer were standing outside a dressing room in a small shop in Tokyo where their significant others were trying on clothes. "What the hell are you talking about?" Johnny responds.
"How am I supposed to beat an invisible man? Do we....do we set an elaborate paint trap? That feels like cheating and I won't stand by cheating but....but WHAT COUNTS AS CHEATING WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING AN INVISIBLE MAN?! HAS ALL LOGIC AND SANITY BEEN CAST ASIDE?! A RACIST OOMPA LOOMPA IS PRESIDENT! DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER! MASS HYSTERIA!" The Jew Blazer says.
"Dude I uh... I don't think you literally 'can't see' John Blade." Johnny asks.
"Oh thank God... Then this has all been a horrible dream? That terrible man isn't President?" The Blazer asks.
"You may want to sit down...and also be quieter because a loooooot of people are staring." Johnny says.
"It's fine. I'm fine. I've been meaning to talk to you about something." The Blazer says.
"Yeah sure." Johnny asks.
"These people in Redemption don't know you like I do so I gotta ask....why have you been throwing your matches lately? I watched you intentionally not go for the ropes when you were fighting Kenzie...what's up?" The Blazer asks. Johnny smirks.
"So...how'd it go in New York last week? We haven't really talked about but I assume well since she's here." Johnny asks, changing the subject.
"Well I was really nervous and..."
-ONE WEEK EARLIER-
(Off-camera/implied storytelling)
Joshua Goldstein was nervous, and every time his girlfriend asked him about it, he told her he was just nervous about his upcoming match. He had said he wanted to spend the week back in New York instead of Japan which was...kind of suspicious but as much as Josh seemed to be enjoying Japan, Kaylee knew he loved his hometown. He was very attentive, helping her get around on her crutches.
"I dunno... I guess I took it for granted that you never saw the statue. When you're from New York you don't even think about it." Josh says on the ferry, holding Kaylee's hand.
"It's sort of a big thing, Josh." Kaylee says. She laughs. She was normally a strong, stubborn competitor but after being injured and having surgery, she fell into the girlfriend role more. It was something that was all new to her, but Josh made it easy on her.
"It's like being from Los Angeles and taking the Hollywood Sign for granted."
"Eventually it just becomes part of the scenery." Josh says. The ferry comes to a stop and Josh helps Kaylee to her feet but she can feel him trembling as he helps her. She HAD told him to take a heavier coat.
"It is like 40 degrees, Josh. And we are on water. You are crazy. You boys are all the same. Youll be warm. Youll be fine. Blah blah." She jokes. The boot of her crutch slips and she stumbles but he catches her. He holds her for a bit as he catches her.
"Well I have you here to keep me warm." Josh says. He kisses her forehead then helps her with her crutches and they set foot on Liberty Island. The enormous Lady Liberty looms over them.
"Wow. Pretty impressive when you are this close. I never even considered visiting. Florida has always been my place. South Beach. The warm temperatures." She says. She walks forward a bit, making sure to not be in anyone's way.
Josh takes a super deep breath.
"Well... Right over there is Ellis island. That's where all the immigrants would come in. It was there that my grandfather met my grandmother. They had both come over from Germany to escape...well you know." Josh says.
She smiles, and looks over.
"That is awesome that they met there. They started their lives over, and together." Kaylee says. She looks around as the cold air whips across the river.
"It is freezing, Josh. We couldn't do this in the Spring? Or on Google Maps?" She leans into him, teasing.
Another deep breath.
"He actually proposed that day. They came over here to see Lady Liberty and he said 'This is America...we can have a new life here so please allow me to be crazy in this new life of mine.' And then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. They were together until the very end when Grandpa passed away about six years ago." Josh says. Josh releases his hold on Kaylee and stands in front of her.
"So..." Josh says, getting on one knee.
Kaylee looks around.
"Josh. Joshua. Get up. What are you doing? Joshua." She says, She rarely uses his whole first name. She covers her mouth as she shivers from the cold as well.
"Josh. Are you.."
"Cassandra. I love you so so much... I want to spend the rest of our lives trying to make you as happy as you've made me." Josh says, he takes his grandmas engagement ring from his pocket.
"Will you marry me?" Josh asks, holding the ring up to her.
She is choked up and cannot believe it.
"Ye-"
She breathes, and wipes a couple of tears.
"Yes. Yes Joshie."
Josh slides the ring on her finger and stands to kiss her deeply and lovingly.
"Hell yeah Josh! Wait, she said yes right?" Ronnie says behind Kaylee. Kaylee immediately throws her head back and rolls her eyes.
"Do you ALWAYS have to be around. You know I am marrying him, not the both of you." She says to Ronnie, who has become the brother that she loves to torture as much as he loves to torture her.
"He's my little brother. We're sort of a package deal." Ronnie says. Then he chuckles because he said 'package'.
"In what universe am I the 'little brother'?" Josh asks.
"Well... if he is the little brother." She turns towards him, and plans a BIG kiss on Ronnie's lips just to screw with him.
"Welcome me to the family, brother!"
"Ah! No! Weird! Not rad! I'm going to the gift shop you weirdo!" Ronnie says, walking away.
"Yeah... I don't know if I can kiss you now. There's video evidence of where Ronnies mouth has been." Josh says. Kaylee laughs. Josh kisses Kaylee on the forehead and the newly engaged couple walk/hobble around the island together.
