OFF CAMERA
Just a few hours after his match, Avery calls home to Taylor. Brooklyn is fast asleep in bed with him in Japan for the week.
Avery: Hey babe. You are so amazing. Letting little Brook come and visit. Are you doing okay at home?
Taylor sighs.
Taylor: This will be the longest I have been without her, but it is good for her to experience different things. Honestly if it wasn’t for everything Em was doing I might have gone insane already
She chuckles. He laughs.
Avery: What are you making poor Em do? Snapchats every hour or something?
Avery looks over.
Avery: Brooklyn is fast asleep in bed.
Taylor laughs.
Taylor: No. Nothing like that. But Em and I have been texting off and on. I trust You and Em. And LJ too. Between tge three of you, I know she’s safe.
Avery: Well, gee thanks. I know she is not biologically mine but thanks for the vote of confidence.
He knows she means well and is obviously protective of her girl.
Avery: I have the show here in Kobe on the 29th Japan time, and then I fly to California for the Lucha show on the 29th. Gotta love that timezones make this work. And after that, I will be home for a week. I cannot wait to see you.
Taylor: You know I didn't mean it like that sweetie. And yes, I miss you like crazy and now all my family is across the ocean.
Avery : Well Brook and Em are only here for a few days. And they will be back home. So don't get too lonely. I am sure Big Chief could check in on you if you wanted.
Taylor: He already came by. And someone told him to bring me ice cream and he didn't let me lift a finger the whole time he was here. What are you telling him about me huh?
She laughs
Avery: Good man. He deserves a raise.
Avery smiles, and without seeing it Taylor can feel it.
Avery: I love you. I am so glad that everything is falling the way it is.
He pauses.
Avery: OH! I picked up a win this week.
Taylor: That’s great. It should be available to stream here tomorrow right? You know I watch them all.
Taylor: Yup! Alechs and Honey got a win. And so did Trixie. Plus LJ made it to the next round. Good news all around.
Taylor: I'm glad to hear you happier baby. You're taking your medication right? I don't want to sound like a nag but I can't be there to keep you on schedule and it worries me sometimes.
Avery: I am. And I know that you care. Thanks babe. I just have been so frustrated. Now I have to fight this punk that calls himself The Legacy. Ugh.
Taylor: That is yours and LJ’S thing. You kick his ego back to whatever hodunk town he came from.
Avery: My girl, always with that fire.
He can hear her yawn.
Avery: Yeah, agreed. I need to be getting to bed. I have a little monster to contend with in the morning. And you need your semi-hourly nap.
He teases.
Taylor: Well tell you what, next time you carry te babies. Deal?
Avery: Deal. I love you.
Taylor: I love you too Mr. Miles
They end the phone call as Avery is able to scoot the little girl over and grabs some shuteye himself before the night gets too late. Morning and breakfast comes early for little Brooklyn.

*Minutes later after getting off of the phone, Avery heads outside to the balcony to record. He is dressed comfortably wearing a AM3 shirt and a pair of jogging pants. Inside, Brooklyn is fast asleep. He looks out to the city as he begins to record*
I said that I would win, and I did. And leave it to a man that calls himself The Legacy to put my win into question. I won within the rules. You would have done the same, and claimed that a win's a win. I know how guys like you are; you stick to the rules when they benefit you. And when they don’t, it is all in your best interest.
I think it is cute that you call yourself The Legacy. It more like a legacy of winning a title in a company that no one knows the name of, remembers, or is even around any longer. And the legacy is harassing an innocent girl backstage. You think I have not been paying attention? I know that you have it out for Lilly. While I do not know her personally, I know guys just like you. The assholes of a company. And we have plenty of them already. So you can either chill the fuck out or see your way out.
You might think that you are some young hot shot and that you will be fighting amongst the very best in Redemption. Along with dozens of others that have come and gone. And yet, the true superstars like myself remain.
Am I aware of my record? Yes. But that does not mean that I do not have the ability to pin your shoulders to the mat. Bring everything that you’ve got, Zach. And bring your Legacy. I will step all over it.
*He pauses*
