This scene opens in a conference room where Jeremy sits opposite three businessmen and a translator whom all speak through.
”So gentlemen, I assume Tsubasa Corp has come to terms with Mister Takashi’s imminent departure at this juncture?”
There is some mumbling between the three men before turning to address Jeremy. ”As you know Mr. Starling, Takashi-san was an honored member of the board, but he was also the easiest to buy. The rest of the board will not accept Starling Associated’s bid for control because you convinced him into a retirement he should have taken a decade ago.”
Jeremy brings his hands to his mouth, pointer fingers up and tapping together. ”Hm… let’s dispense with any thoughts that you have given me anything more than a smokescreen and simply cut to the facts. You have resisted all efforts by Starling Associated to acquire your… assets even with your government now breathing down your neck.”
”You know that Tsubasa Corp has been one of the leading edge bio-medical and pharmaceutical companies for over a decade. Starling Associated already has that and it is Tsuabasa’s leading American competitor.”
”And yet companies gain control of competing smaller companies all the time. You sell to very different markets as well. And it is those markets that Tsubasa must dive deeper into so when the government comes knocking and asking about your other business projects, you can have the capital to bail out for the third time in as many years.”
”And what guarantees can you make on that Mr. Starling?”
”The only guarantee I have for you is that I will leave this country in mid-March once the tour is done and I will not be able to come back on a whim should your minds change when five months after that, you will be raided and seized. And you will be unable to make yet another deal. Believe me, Tsubasa’s business is far too important to let it slip away from the corporate fighting pits.”
The men look to each other and nod. A devious smile crosses Jeremy’s face.

”That’s one princess down as if there was ever a doubt. It plays perfectly into the conspiracy against me. This is no tinfoil theory either because now everyone has seen it. I have pinned one-half of the tag team champions on two separate occasions. Now if my math still serves me, two halves make a whole, which basically means I at this point am the tag champion just on my own accord. Ut we do have the shady technicality of the first time it was half of the mental patients known as Chaos Love, who are effectively now defunct anyway, and the second was one half of the tattooed degenerates who call themselves Rebel Ink.
“Pagh. A true businessman, if that’s what Devlin Scott truly is, would see now these are three championships that should by all rights be mine. Or if he’s foolish enough to deny that, then he can’t deny that I am owed matches for three titles: the Genesis title after Devlin Scott unceremoniously removed me from my earned shot, the Young Lion’s title after Devlin’s own bias meant making sure the official only finished a count for Courtney and now the tag titles as I have beaten tag champions on my own. These will all be dealt with, but there right now is the more immediate matter of he Global Cup tournament.
“As I said, the princess has been defeated and now I am to fight a senile, deranged codger who has dreams of some former glory that he thinks to reclaim. And he has a small band of like-minded individuals, that is to say more afflicted with a form of dementia, to keep him company. Oh I hope he brings them to this match and vindicates me as Living Greatness. It will be the best of pleasures to rout these arrogant peasants that call themselves BLD, but I must be content with dealing with Spike Steel on his own I suppose. Shame that, I will only get to enjoy the empty, non-comprehensive stare of a defeated eccentric rather than the full monty of posers.
“Spike and BLD and myself have had some, I guess they are called Twitter wars and every time I sent them away with tails tucked between their legs and I didn’t even use a fifth of my genius to do so. And at Glory, all my intellect, all my skillset, all my cunning will be brought to bear against the hapless Spike Steel. And hapless isn’t even my thought process. It was spike’s own words that he was still preparing for me, as though he weren’t ready at this point. Well, that’s more the shame because that was the only other chance, however infinitesimal it may have been, he had at hoping for a win. I, quite the opposite of him as if that were any surprise, have been ready since the card was formally put together. I analyzed Spike as soon as he defeated his previous opponent and came up with strategy after strategy within other strategies.
“I’d continue to brag but I’m afraid there is no one actually listening to these words who have the mental capacity to truly comprehend them. Simply put, only those like me who are born better can fathom the depths of my guile. Spike and BLD could not think their way out of the barn they were likely all raised in if they put their collective brains into one. Hope you had no thoughts of going to your ancestor’s country with good news Spike. It ends even as it begins for you.”

In the early morning in Jeremy’s hotel room, Jeremy wakes up to a notification on his phone. He picks it up and illuminates it in the pitch black. He has two very interesting Twitter notifications.
@thelegacyzk: @simplycoda Perhaps yourself, @jstarrising and myself should get together for some mutual business.
@simplycoda: @thelegacyzk @jstarrising Perhaps we should. I would enjoy that.
Jeremy’s lips twist into a smirk and he nods looking at Cadence’s sleeping form next to him.
”Does not hurt to hedge other bets to secure my own legacy.”
@simplycoda @thelegacyzk I too am interested in discussing some mutually beneficial arrangements.
