“I won!”
The bubbly brunette holds her phone to her ear as she uses her other hand to pack her suitcase. She was moving to a new hotel closer to the next venue.
“I know Grams! Don't worry, I am being really careful here. My new friend has been helping a lot. My next match, though... that sure is going to be a challenge. And Zach is here...”
She frowns listening to her Gram on the other end.
“I dunno Gram...I guess Mr. Scott liked him too. I can’t dictate who gets hired. I'm not going to let him ruin anything. I know the truth and if he wants to believe lies without knowing me... well that's on him. I have to worry about facing Mr. Daughterty now. He's real big and strong but I got my speed. He's really good too. I promise to be careful Gram. Talk soon. Love you too.”
She hangs up the hotel phone and then looks up and smiles.
“Oh! Hi! Totes forgot I set up this live video thing. That was my Gram. Super duper lady. Love her to the moon and back! But... super duper excited to get my first win here in not only Redemption but in Japan! Such a beautiful country.”
She offers up her smile, something she did quite often even when faced with something not worth smiling about.
“I didn’t want to waste any time talking about my next opponent. A man that calls himself the Leviathan. A monster. Honestly, I don’t think he’s really as much of a monster as he says he is... I mean that yes, he’s a pretty tough competitor. He has all this experience. A former champion but mostly he’s a monster because he is soo tall. But deep down, I know he’s more of a softie. The way he talks about Mr. Miles... A real monster couldn’t do that. There are quite a few real monsters in Redemption but I think Mr. Daughterty isn’t one of them.”
She takes a seat in front of the camera.
“I want to be the best I can be. Not just for Cillian, not for my gram or my bestie Angel. I want to do it for me. There are so many naysayers that think I don’t belong here. That I’m not as good as a ring veteran so it’s obvious that he’s the favorite to win. But that’s okay too. Even if I lose, I know that he won’t just have an easy win from this girl. I will take him to the limit and then, He can respect my abilities and the hard work That I put into my training.”
She sighs.
“I know that this will not be an easy ride and I never want my time here in Redemption to be one. I want to earn everything I get. That’s how I can truly be proud of how far I’ve come. People will see me as a worthy opponent and beating Mr. Daughterty is one step on the path. So bring me your best sir, because I’m bringing mine. I can’t wait!”
She giggles and then waves at the camera as it goes dark.
