Greetings…
For those of you who don’t recognize my voice, my name is Yujiro Fujiwara. As always, I sincerely apologize for not producing video for you all. Know the less, I’ve been swamped with training; so, the matter cannot be helped. And, due to the taxing nature of my schedule, I’ll keep this audio log a brief as I can.
That being said, do you know what the best form of revenge (in terms of wrestling) is?
One of my trainers back in Japan once asked me that. I was younger back then. I believe my response was something like violent, bloody attack. However, my sensei shook his head; he told me that my answer was too complicated. In truth, the best revenge is—a clean victory.
For months and months, Anton Chase had been running his mouth about how superior he was. He even went as far as to say it was his goal to run me out of Redemption—fools and their folly.
You know, it’s fascinating. When all is said and done, Mr. Chase will also be known as the first Genesis Champion. Nonetheless, he will also always been seen as man who needed shortcuts, a man who had a difficult time defeating people one on one. So no matter how many matches you may win in Redemption, no matter how many accolades you achieve, your legacy will always be tainted.
You lost, Anton, to the better man...and to the better wrestler. And not only did you lose, but I had the pleasure and honor of feeling the fight leave you as you tapped out…
We are done here. Moving on.
For those of you in the know, I shall be taking on Matthew Shields in the next round of Global Cup.
Hmm…
You know, this might just be my opinion; however, I feel that Mr. Shields is somewhat of a polarizing figure. Some people hate his demeanor, his aggressive attitude and nature. Others say that he is akin to a badass, and therefore are drawn to him.
I chose not to throw my name in either hat. The fact of the matter is, I’ve never met Mr. Shields. With the exception of his videos, I don’t have much a frame of reference. And to my knowledge, he hasn’t said anything disrespectful about me; therefore, I’ll return the favor.
What I do know is that Mr. Shields can get it done in the ring. Hate him or love him, he has picked Redemption up and carried it on his back his the promotion’s incorporation. It’s admirable, in a sense. What I do know, is that Mr. Shield wrestles with a vigor and intensity that only matched by a few people in this sport, myself being one of them.
Mr. Shields, as I said before, I don’t know you well enough to make a judgement call about you. Therefore, I certainly don’t know you well enough to shit here and talk mindless shit about you. I’m not about that; and I’m fairly certain that you aren’t either. However, this is what I’ll say—I’m hungry. Since signing to Redemption, you’ve been well fed. You’ve captured the top belt, you’ve been on a tear in your matches, and you put fear in a lot of people’s hearts.
You’ve got a mighty appetite yourself. However, you need to realize that some of aren’t well fed. Some of us are talented and have been busting our ass, but haven't been invited to the buffet yet. You may toss me into that group. We are starving...no, we are famished.
A win against you, in this Global Cup—well, it will allow me to pull up a seat at that buffet.
Based on that metaphor alone, I don’t need to bark on how important this match is, correct? I don’t need to talk about how intense I’ll be; I don’t need to tell you about how hard I’ll be fighting. All that should be expected.
Just know that this won’t be a cute little match; I’m not about those. This shall be an epic clash, or a war, to use a cliche term.
...But I’m certain you were already aware of that.
