Fuck The Zolnerowich Name.
"Winter Solace came and went. After vying for an opportunity at a gold belt that would finally alleviate the status of my name into the upper echelon of professional wrestling, the chance of obtaining what has always alluded me slipped away from my grasp. The loss has been a hard pill for me to swallow, especially with how tumultuous my career has been ever since I came back to this sport in July. I was brushed off to the side for far too long, and I was nothing more but a desperate mess pleading for the chance to get what I felt was rightfully mine. However, I never took full advantage of a golden opportunity that was practically given to me. I am back at square one, and now I can only dust off my shoulders and keep my head high as I have no other choice but to deal with the fact that Martin Karloff is now the New Generation champion instead of me."
"It's a tough realization to experience, especially since I'll admit that I'm not the best when it comes to admitting defeat. Besides, it must have been nice for all of you to watch that happen. I can just imagine how giddy you all felt when I, Caroline O'Hara Burchill, failed to win a title after spending months talking a big game and claiming that I was going to be at the forefront of the competition here in Redemption Wrestling. However, I cannot cry foul and demand another shot at an illustrious gold belt. After all, while I might have let one shot of being the best in this promotion escape from my hands, I am presented with another chance of being at the top of the game - and that comes in the form of the Global Cup tournament."
"This is a rather exciting thing for me. When I am set to do battle with multiple competitors and I am fighting for the ultimate chance at bragging rights, it's hard for me not to close my eyes and smile at the possibility of winning the entire thing. I want nothing more than to have the satisfactory feeling of proving to everyone that I have what it takes to rise to the occasion, and it would be a wonderful rebound for me after the recent mishap I've had. This is more than just being another tournament or representing my country; a country that I am definitely proud of hailing from. It's a way for me to carve out my own legacy and have a spotlight that will shine solely on me. It's what I've always wanted, and while Winter Solace wasn't meant to be for me, this tournament is something that I am going all out for."
"Also, on an interesting side note: This isn't the only tournament that I'm currently competing in. Back in Alpha Wrestling Empire, I've advanced to the third round of the Alpha Cup tournament."
"I have the chance of winning two tournaments in one month. So, with an accomplishment like that bearing such an amazing feat for me to obtain, you better believe me when I say that I am going to be ruthless and unrelenting in every match moving forward. I'm not going to squander this moment the same way I did at Winter Solace. I'm coming in with my nails ready to sink into the flesh of the competition, and may hell hath no fury on those who stand in my way."
"This is my time. This is my step into having my own grand coronation, and this is all I ever wanted ever since I came into this sport. I'm not going to let anyone stop me."
"It's time for me to ascend to my rightful place on my own little throne."

Sydney, Australia
This was it. She was back home.
Caroline still couldn't believe that she was back in Australia; a place that she swore she would never return to after what transpired over two years ago. After all the arguments with her mother and the shaky relationship that they've had, Caroline left everything and everyone behind her as she sought to make a name for herself on a grander stage. Since then, she hadn't looked back. The fleeting thought of coming back to a place that gave her nothing but bad memories that she wanted to get rid of never crossed her mind for a long time. In fact, she enjoyed it. She was making a name for herself without the added stress and pressure of others weighing down on her conscious. She didn't care if people never approved of her attitude. She was free to do whatever it was that she wanted, and Caroline couldn't have been any more relieved.
However, that wouldn't last very long.
All it took was for one sentence to fill her mind and suddenly, everything just came back to her.
"I definitely need to come visit you guys once I have enough free time."
That was what she promised to her older brother back in August. It was well over four months since she last spoke to Shawn, and it seemed like an eternity. She never expected for it to drive her to the brink of insanity, but it nearly did and Caroline couldn't suppress it to the back of her mind for much longer. She had been so selfish and was busy being infatuated with chasing gold that she nearly forgot about her own brother entirely. In a way, she was ashamed of herself because Shawn was the only one in her family that still contacted her. He still cared for her and loved her, even in spite of how drastically different her behavior was. She was no longer the nice girl with bright eyes and an innocent smile. She transformed into a headstrong woman set on reaching the top in any way possible. It was funny to her, really. She was known as being an egomaniac that changed for the worst, yet he was still adamant about remaining on her side. When her own mother disowned her, he was still there for her. Caroline still wondered to this day why he even bothered sticking with her for so long. However, she was forever grateful that they've maintained such a strong bond through all of her craziness, and now it was the time for her to push all of the bad stuff to the side so that she could see him after such a long time.
With a sigh, Caroline took a few timid steps forward toward the door that was in front of her. Her heart was bounding and all sorts of various things shrouded the pink matter that occupied her head as she got closer and closer. As she was right in front of the door, she anxiously fumbled with her fingers and drew out a long sigh; closing her eyes as she took the moment to calm her nerves.
"This is it," Caroline said quietly to herself amidst the waves of emotions that were crashing within her. "After two years, you're finally going to see him again. All you have to do is reach out and ring the doorbell."
And so, she slowly brought her index finger to a straight position and extended her arm out ever so slowly. One might think that Burchill was being silly and dramatic for no reason, but for the young Aussie, this was a big deal. This was a monumental step that she taking; a step that she couldn't take back. She had been bitter and filled with hatred, having nothing more but utter contempt brewing within her ever since she left. It was time to put the past behind her, and she needed to it now than later. With one last sigh, Caroline's finger pressed the button, and she could hear the doorbell ring. Within that moment, all of the nerves died down and her anxiety was gone. She finally did it.
"Holy shit, I finally did it," She thought to herself. However, her heart would jump as she heard the footsteps of someone approaching toward the door. It would soon crack open, and she caught the familiar chestnut-brown eyes staring back at her. Her own eyes lit up and she could feel the corner of her lips curving upward to form a warm smile on her face; something that she hadn't done in a while.
"Caroline," the voice called out quizzically, and the door was wide open. As he stood there, Shawn couldn't help but to be in shock at the sight of his little sister standing right in front of him. "You actually came?"
"Like I said, I was going to see you when I had enough time. A promise is a promise." Soon, Caroline's smile seemed to radiate more as she looked at Shawn, and she was elated to the point where she could feel the tears beginning to well up her eyes. Shawn, bearing an ecstatic grin of his own, suddenly lunged at Caroline with his arms outstretched before wrapping them around her for a hug. As she received the warm embrace, Caroline decided that it was alright for her to let her guard down and allowed for the tears to stream down her face.
"I missed you so much," She spoke softly, burying her face into her brother's shoulder. Shawn chuckled and sighed happily, sharing the same sentiment as he said, "I missed you, too."
Coming back home was the right thing to do.
Later on in the day...
"A tournament, eh," Shawn remarked with an arched brow, clearly taking interest in what Caroline had to say. The two were sitting by the table in the dinner room, and Caroline had been talking up a storm about what her career had been like thus far. From her time in XWF to her current situation in Redemption Wrestling, Caroline mentioned everything to him. Although there were admittedly some low points in her career, there were also some favorable moments that she enjoyed. It had been a mixed bag for her honestly, from main events to her failed title match. However, Caroline seemed exceptionally excited as she informed Shawn about the Global Cup tournament.
"Yep. Single elimination style," She pointed out with a more serious tone to her voice. "There's no option for failure here. Especially with everything that has been going for me lately, I can't afford to lose this entire thing. I won't settle for anything less. I've already made a complete ass out of myself in front of Devlin Scott before, and I don't want to do it again, you know? All the other wrestlers think that I'm all bark and no bite, so losing this tournament would only help but to solidify that point. You know how I get when I've got my back up against the wall..."
Shawn simply shook his head and chuckled, finding it intriguing how Caroline was taking the entire thing seriously. However, he understood where his sister was coming from. She always wanted to be the best at everything that she did, so he knew how important it was for her. "It's good to see how passionate and driven you are by this entire thing."
"Well, what did you expect? You think that I'm going to take this as a joke or something?"
"Oh, absolutely not," Shawn said with his hands raised. "I just like to see that you are working hard towards getting what you want. You know, since you always talk about obtaining glory and being your own little Queen."
Caroline quirked a brow at him, but she simply rolled her eyes and continued on. "Anyway, I didn't just come back to only see you. I mean, don't get me wrong. Having the chance to see you again is incredible, but I feel like if there's anyone that can help me along the way to winning this tournament, it's you."
"Really," Shawn asked, bemused. Caroline nodded her head.
"Absolutely," She reassured with a smile on her face. "Your guidance will be of great help to me."
"Well, you know that I am always here for you. Though, I don't think you need that much help," Shawn boasted confidently as he placed his hands behind his head and smirked. "After all, you are a Zolnerowich-"
Of course he had to go there. Upon the utterance of that name, Caroline's demeanor quickly soured as she frowned at Shawn. Noticing this change, Shawn blinked and looked at Caroline in a confused manner before it dawned on him. "Oh yeah, I forgot..."
"Mhm."
"Oh, come on now. Don't give me that look," Shawn spouted defensively with a slight frown of his own. "Besides, that's who you are. Legally, anyways. You can't just ignore that fact, even if you may not like it."
"Shawn," Caroline said exasperatedly, letting out a sigh. "Just don't, alright?"
"Okay, I'm sorry, but I just want you to know that people aren't going to gloss over the fact that we come from the Zolnerowich family, especially given the kind of legacy that our parents forged," Shawn pointed out. It was indeed true. Even to this day, there are people who still refer to Burchill as Zolnerowich; a name that she had grown to hate after the constant fighting that she had with her family. She worked hard to separate herself from that identity, and anytime someone were to acknowledge as such, she couldn't help but to get upset. It was just annoying. So, when her own brother said that to her, it never sat well with Caroline.
"God, I'm starting to hate you," Caroline spat with her arms crossed to her chest. Shawn, however, never took her seriously and laughed, reaching out to pinch her on her cheek.
"Quit being a baby," he teased. Of course, that would only help to annoy Caroline even more as she swatted at his hand. Yanking his hand away, Shawn flashed a sly grin at his sister, and Caroline just rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever."
"And that's what I'm talking about. Sheesh, you're so sensitive..."
"Well, when people just want to denounce you and make you out to be someone that will always be in the shadows of their bastard parents, then yeah, I think I have every right to be sensitive."
Shawn sighed. "I get it, C. I know you feel a bit raw about everything that has happened, but there's really no need for you to be like that. I just don't see why you get so easily insulted at the mere mention of that name. It's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal," Caroline repeated mockingly, standing up from her seat. Sensing the tension that was within the atmosphere, Shawn opened his mouth the speak in an attempt to calm his sister down. However, Caroline's tongue was quicker and she cut him off before he could even begin.
"It is a big deal to me, Shawn. I don't ever want people to associate me with them ever again. It's getting on my nerves, and honestly? I am above the Zolnerowich name. I don't ever want to be referred to as such again. I'm trying to branch out on my own and have my sole defining place in professional wrestling, but I can't really do that when I'v got people hurling that same thing in my face constantly!"
By then, Shawn wasn't really sure what to say. He didn't mean to make his own sister upset, and seeing Caroline go off on a rant was something that he did not expect. He sighed and hanged his head low, unsure of what to do.
"You know what though? It's alright, because sooner or later people will look at me and see me for who I truly am. Winning this tournament will be all the vindication I need to prove to everyone that I don't need to fall back on the Zolnerowich legacy. Matter of fact, fuck that shit," A smirk then crept along Burchill's face. "It's about time that the Burchill legacy gets its recognition, and I'll do everything I can to make sure that my own career is the only thing that people will ever talk about."
"Well," Shawn finally said after a while, looking up at his sister. "If that's what you want, then fine. Even if I think it's harsh, I'll do what I can to help you out. Besides, you know I'm always here for you."
"Good," Caroline said, pleased with her brother's response. "I appreciate that, Shawn."
Shawn flashed a faint smile at Caroline. Suddenly, Caroline's phone began to vibrate in her pocket and she took it out, seeing that Amy was calling.
"Oh boy," Caroline rolled her eyes as she sighed and answered the incoming call, placing the phone by her ear. "Yes, Amy?"
"Where the hell are you?"
"What do you mean by 'where the hell are you'? What, are you my mother now," Caroline remarked sarcastically as she smirked. Of course, the always serious Scottsfiern never found any amusement in that. "Caroline, this is serious! You do realize that the first round of the Global Cup tournament is starting in a couple of days, right? Now you've gone somewhere when you're supposed to be focused on this damned match and when I'm trying to reach out to you, you want to act smart with me?"
"Relax! I'm in Sydney visiting my brother, you uptight cunt. Besides, he's going to help me train for the match. You need to take a chill pill."
"Well, maybe I would be more calm if you would just let me know where the hell you're going before you disappear like that. Give me notice in advanced for next time, alright?"
"Yeah, yeah," Caroline said nonchalantly, having not a single care in the world. "So, are you done lecturing me like I'm a child?"
"Yes, I guess."
"Good. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to more important things on hand. Bye, Mom."
"Are you seri-"
Before Amy could finish her sentence though, Caroline ended the call and placed the phone on the table. She then laughed before she turned her attention over to Shawn, who looked a bit perplexed. "I guess that was your agent calling?"
"Yeah, she was just wondering where I was. I didn't tell her that I was coming here to see you," Caroline explained. She then smiled and clapped her hands together, trying to change the subject. "Alright then! I guess we should get started now, huh?"
"Well, looks like someone is eager to get started right away," Shawn said with a grin as he stood up. "Alright then. Get ready. I'll be in the car waiting for you."
"The time is almost here, Illiya. I'm sure you've been waiting for this moment; this chance to make a mark here in Redemption Wrestling as we are set to go one-on-one in Osaka, Japan. This is something that I'm sure you're going to take seriously. After all, you're not just fighting to assert your dominance, but you are also fighting for the honor of bringing prestige to the Vancouver area. Although you and your sister Ezrynn were originally from Ireland, you two felt like Canada has always been your true home."
"For a while, I felt indifferent about the place I came from. Ever since I moved to the United States with the hope of advancing my career, I've never felt any pride in being from there. For some time, I had nothing but bad memories every time I thought about that place. It's no secret to anyone in the professional wrestling world that I've had many cracks in my relationship with my parents, and especially with my own mother. She never liked the way I carried myself. I never liked confirming to the bullshit idea of being a nice girl, because for a while, pandering to the fans and faking a smile all the time wasn't getting me anywhere in my career. It wasn't until I left that whole shtick entirely that my career began to blossom, and I began to get the ball rolling. I was no longer stuck in a stagnant position. I know that it is better to be feared than love, and that is why I pride myself in being the Most Hated Woman in the World. I don't need the validation of fans like you might need. And while I have yet to be truly at the top of the competition, I can say that without a shadow of doubt that I am doing a lot better than when I did two years ago."
"So, why did I decide to represent Australia, even though it gave me a bitter taste in my mouth for a while? I realized that I don't need to be afraid of the animosity that might ensue. I don't need to worry about carrying out some bullshit Zolnerowich legacy that my parents have built up. I'm here to bring that all down and make the Burchill name the most illustrious name in all of wrestling."
"I'm sure you want to make a name for yourself as well, Illiya. You're practically salivating at the mouth, just dying to make an example out of me. You're hungry for the chance of proving your worth here, and while on any other night I would find that admirable, I want you to understand that this match is not going to be an easy one for you. You're not going to breeze through me. You can say that you can and claim that you will to yourself as a way to hype yourself up, but I want you to be realistic here."
"You're stepping in the ring with the most dangerous bitch here in Redemption Wrestling."
"I'm not some egotistical bitch that's all talk and no walk. I have all of the skills and capabilities of beating anyone, and I always pride myself on having all of the wrestling ability in the world. You might be a technical specialist in your own right, but I can run circles around you. My submission skills are impeccable, and just when you think that you have me beat? I can always surprise you and you'll be faced with your own Impending Overthrow."
"I'm not going to hold a single thing back when you and I meet in the ring. You'll be in a match for your life, and trust me, with everything being against me, I'm going to go out there and come at you with everything at my disposal. You're coming face to face with the Killer Queen, so I do hope that for your sake you don't take any of this for granted. I refuse to let anyone walk all over me, and this is my tournament to win. I'm on the fast track of accomplishing something that is nearly unprecedented, and even if I have to use your broken and nearly lifeless body to set the tone for what's to come, then so be it."
"It seems like people are forgetting who Caroline O'Hara Burchill is, but it's alright. I'll gladly remind each and every single one of you."
"It's just a shame that I have to use you as a way to get that point across to everyone, Illiya."
"Yep. Single elimination style," She pointed out with a more serious tone to her voice. "There's no option for failure here. Especially with everything that has been going for me lately, I can't afford to lose this entire thing. I won't settle for anything less.
