12:39PM local time
In the waiting room at an urgent care clinic, Daisy and RC sit for a few minutes. Daisy keeps giving RC a sour look.
”I’m sorry babe I know you aren't a fan of the doctor, but you've been off ever since the Solstice. I'm worried. I'm allowed that aren't I?”
”Yes you are allowed it, but I should be fine. Why are they taking forever?”
”I don't know. Maybe a lot of people with bad stomachs after Christmas. Too much fruitcake?”
”Might be, but eww how could they eat that stuff.”
She wrinkles her nose at the thought of it.
”I don't know. That seems to be the dish of choice for a lot of people though.”
”Yeah it does.”
Finally a nurse comes through the door.
“Daisy Tucker.”
Daisy looks up, as she smiles. She goes to get up.
”I’m coming...”
RC also stands and walks back with her.
“How are we feeling today Mrs. Tucker?”
Daisy reaches for RC's hand, as she looks at the nurse.
”Well, I’ve been having no energy, wanting to stay in bed. I have been throwing up some too.”
”Alright let's see what we have here.”
She leads them to an exam room and proceeds with chest, ear and eye check.
”How long have these symptoms been happening?”
”It's been about almost a week now. I was fine last Monday, and they started in the next day.”
”Have you been able to get up and move? Even if just to the bathroom or the kitchen?”
”A little bit, but I do get dizzy at times.”
”And how has your appetite been? Any changes to your diet?”
”If I eat, I’ve only been having liquids. I thought I had the flu but still sick.”
”And you already mentioned that you are throwing up. Any pain?”
Daisy shakes her head no.
”No not really.”
”And when did you last have your period?”
”Well ummm....I don't know, they're not always regular.”
”If you had to guess…”
Daisy thinks for a few minutes.
”I would have to say it was October.”
”Alright.”
The nurse records everything on a chart.
”I'm going to consult the doctor. She'll be with you shortly.”
The nurse walks out and closes the door behind her.
”I forget why I hate the medical field sometimes. They can never just tell you straight up what's wrong.”
”I think they need run some tests, or something too. Who knows. I just hate this, and want to be home.”
”So do I. I don't know that I could take something being wrong right after Christmas.”
”I know, and before we start our run back to the top.”
He takes her hand in his.
”It’s more than that, my love. You're the best thing that's happened to me. And I don't think I've told you that enough since I met you.”
She smiles, as she looks at their hands together.
”You do say it, in more ways than you know, or realize. I'm glad I have you, it's been keeping me calm this whole time.”
He smiles and kisses her.
”So no negative thoughts. Whatever it is, we're together and that's what matters.”
She kisses him back, as she nods.
”No negative thoughts. We can, and will handle this together.”
There's a knock at the door and a doctor enters.
”Hello, I'm Doctor Opal. The nurse told me what's been going on and I'd like to run a couple tests if you don't mind.”
”We figured you would want to. That's fine, what tests?”
”I will need a urine sample and a blood draw.””
RC cringes a little at the last.
”Blood draw? Like needles?”
Daisy looks over, as she sees that he did. She squeezes her hand.
”It will be alright RC, we can get through even the needles.”
”Right. Right.”
”I’ll send the nurse back in to get everything. Here's the cup and there's a bathroom right down the hall.”
The doctor leaves a bio bag with a small container in it and walks out. Daisy takes it, as she looks at RC. She smiles, as she leans over kissing him.
”I will be right back, so I can go get this done.” He returns the kiss waiting in the room for awhile. She gets done, as she comes back, looking at him. ”Now to wait more.”
The nurse comes in and does the blood draw, with RC looking straight into Daisy's eyes the whole time.
”We should have results within the hour.”
The nurse leaves and RC strokes Daisy's hair.
”Should we take bets on what they're gonna find?”
She looks at him, as she shakes her head, while shrugging. She was nervous, not sure what it could be.
”I’m hoping just a really strong flu…”
He smiles as they simply hold each other until the nurse comes back in with a warm smile on her face. Daisy looks, as she sees the smile. She was confused, as she wasn't sure what could be causing her to not feel well, that would make the nurse smile. She looks at RC, not sure what to say.
