No doubt... to live and die in LA
California -- what you say about Los Angeles
Still the only place for me that never rains in the sun
and everybody got love
Scene 001
Present Day - On Camera
Los Angeles. The City of Angels. East LA more specifically.
For those that might not know, I am Alechs Aurelio. Just a regular vato hailing from the ghetto. Coming from a family where my pops is incarcerated because of the drug trade, where one brother was shot and killed in a deal gone sideways, and another brother and my ma having to live with my unc out in the ‘burbs. This ain’t a life to be livin’. I’ve got to find a way out, and wrestling has been that ticket. Self doubt is something I’ve always struggled with. Doubt that I am not good enough. I won’t measure up. I just can’t cut it. But those around me see something I don’t. Avery. Big Chief.Taylor. Mr. Scott. People have faith in me. Blind faith if you ask me.
I struggle everyday living in Vegas. Working for Avery. Training Honey, among other rookie students. I guess that is how things work sometimes. You think one way, and God flips the script on you.
Just when something enters your life, and someone is taken from you. It’s not fair. But things happen. Things are meant to be. It is not coincidence. God has a plan. There is a way.
Everyday I live my life on this planet, I cherish. I love my ma. I love my brother. I love my pops even if I cannot see him. It’s important to live life the way that we see fit; not at the mercy of others.
Scene 002
Flashback from Alpha Rising - Off Camera
Alechs is inside of the ring as he takes a hard bump from Big Chief. He pops up immediately and hits a standing dropkick. The big man teeters as Alechs pivots off of his hand and uses a handspring like movement to push Chief down the rest of the way.
“Good. Good. You gotta use your size. Your speed. Don’t let us. The bigger they are…”
“The harder they fall. I got it, Avery.”
“No, I was saying the bigger they are, the harder they hit if they can get their hands on you.”
The owner of the SoCal Grappling Academy, Avery Miles III was on hand for some final preparations for Alechs in his match leading up to the “Legacy” supercard.
“Keep Chief on the defensive. Use those feet of yours. Use your quick attacks. Don’t let up!”
Avery encourages Alechs, who quickly uses the ropes and springboards into a DDT reminiscent of Avery’s own “Miles Bomb” signature move. Alechs quickly with the lateral press.
ONE… TWO… no!
Big Chief throws Alechs up into the air, but he lands on his feet in a cat-like motion. As the big man sits up, a shining wizard sends him back down giving the three count to Alechs for the mock win. After the match, Alechs helps to trainer up as Chief is a man of few words but gladly shows his appreciation. Alechs heads out of the ring and gets together with Avery to talk some things over.
“Nice job, Alechs. You are ready. She is no slouch. She is a former champion, don’t take her lightly. She might seem super nice and friendly, but she is also a fierce competitor. And with JD likely training her, she might be even scarier inside of the ring. Just focus on your training. Using that instinct that you have. Win or lose, I am already proud of you. I can see you and Taylor both ruling Alpha Rising; the question is which one of you will be a champion first?”
Avery smiles, knowing that a little competition will encourage the both of them.
“Well Tay has some good shit inside of the ring, and I already know that next time she takes on the Princess, Taylor is gonna mess her up good. But if I comes down to Tay and me, she already told me to not take it easy cuz she is down to mess up my face.”
He laughs.
“Sounds like my girl.”
Avery laughs.
“You all set then? You got your ticket?”
“Yeah. Just gotta meet with La before I head out.”
“What is up with the two of you, anyways?”
“We are just good friends. She likes me training her. And she’s been sweet enough to let me chill in an extra room at her place. She has a ton of rooms. It’s dope.”
“Uh huh, sure. I think you are both sweet on each other.”
Alechs turns a bit red.
“Whatever man. Push off.”
Alechs tries to play it off as Avery seems to know better.
“Well I know that you and Tay will both do well. Just believe in yourself, Alechs.”
He nods his head as their conversation comes to an end.
Scene 003
Present Day - Off Camera
As Honey has the arm of Alechs, there is definitely something wrong.
"This... this is just wrong of me. I shouldn't be here. I shouldn't be doing this."
He sighs.
"This is not fair of me. He deserves better. I am off hanging out with a cute girl and signing with Devlin Scott."
Honey was very concerned and gives him the only thing she could think off; a hug. Rubbing his back and tried to make him calm down a little before she pulled away to ask softly, she had completely glazed over his cute girl compliment to try and deduce what was bugging him.
"Why can't you go to a carnival and sign up to Devlin's company?"
"I just... my brother. I am just living like this guy that had his brother die. How fair is that? I should've been there. I should've stopped him. Arturo was shot and I was not there. What sort of brother am I? Now my ma and Antonio are living up with my unc and I am living life."
He shakes his head.
"Alechs..."
Honey takes him for a little walk along the trees.
"You're brother probably wanted you to live your life. You wouldn't want him to be the one not living his life if it had been you, right? You should always remember him but never feel bad for living your life, you should, like, achieve for yourself and for your brother."
"No. This is exactly why I haven't signed. It's why I stuck to training in the school."
He got very serious.
"I Never deserved anymore than what my family had. I was even ready to go and handle whoever killed Arturo."
He looks up to her, sadness in his eyes.
"I even had a gun and was on my way to finish the job."
"Alechs, you don't want to do that and go to jail. You're smart. Like, why don't you think you deserve anymore? The world is our oyster to try and make something of ourselves."
Honey says quoting her own motivation poster on her bedroom door.
"How close were you to Arturo? I bet you had a lot of fun with him."
"We were brothers and best friends."
He wipes a tear.
"I just... I don't deserve any of this. I should be the one that was shot. And not enjoying Christmas."
Honey digs through her handbag to offer Alechs a small, fresh tissue.
"Alechs...you shouldn't have been shot...it's awful to lose your brother but I'm not agreeing that you should have been shot. No. That's totally wrong to think that."
Honey looks and adamantly says so towards him.
He shrugs and wipes his cheek.
"It is whatever. I don't mean to throw shit on you. Let's just forget about it, and have a good time. You deserve it."
He begins to walk back towards the carnival with her arm locked in with his.
Scene 004
Present Day - On Camera
Signed a contract with Redemption Wrestling. How fitting that name. Redemption. Boys from my hood always talk about their own redemptions. But do they really know what it means? For me, redemption is being saved from something. Wrestling has been the savior for me. It is what has helped me to save money to soon buy my fam’ a house. Avery gave me a job to train; and that is how I met a good friend in Honey. I’ve gained friends with Taylor, and others. But now it is the time that I start to get serious. I’ve put in my time so far, and even wrestled a match in Alpha Rising. I want to do what I’ve already dreamed of; wrestle on a bigger scale. And to start my own career in Japan; I have barely been away from the West Coast and now I get to go to Japan. It is going to be pretty cool.
I get to see things that I’ve never seen. Experience new things that I have never experienced before. And I get to be paid while doing all of it. But I have a task at hand.
Mikhail. That’s hard to say. I’mma call him Mikey. I gotta face this Mikey dude in my first ever match. The same dude that took it upon his group to injure another wrestler. I know that I will need to use my speed and do what I can to stay on the move. If he can’t catch me, he can’t break me. I know that he will probably play the numeros game too; so I need to be ready at all time.
I’ve been taught to respect those in the game… and to respect the game. Someone that needs to bring in extra people to gain an advantage; they don’t earn no respect.
Mikey ain’t getting no respect for me. I might have little experience on the big time. And I might have no one on my side. But I ain’t going down without a fight, vato.
Vas a tener que esforzarme para ganarme. No será fácil.
