NGW Five Lakes Champion Jazmyn Rain is in a distraught state of mind as she’s back in her hotel room being held and comforted by her fiance Derek. It was just moments ago that Jazmyn found out that her so-called friend and agent has been using her the entire time just to put money in her own pocket. Understandably, Jazmyn is confused. Why in the world would someone that has been one of her best friends for so many years do that to her? Jazmyn makes it clear that she was thinking along those lines when Derek lets go of her and gives her some space and some room to breathe and wipe away the tears that were strolling down her face.
Jazmyn: Why?
Derek: I don’t know what to tell you…
Jazmyn: Camryn and I met in my first month of college! We had a great friendship going and she never indicated that she had a problem with me at all! She was almost like a sister to me and finding out that I was basically writing a story about my life… and not just one story, but multiple at that… just for her to get a nice paycheck… I don’t…
Derek: Jaz…
Jazmyn: What?
Derek: Put that aside for a second.
Jazmyn: Derek!!!
Derek: No, listen to me! Don’t focus on the money stuff. You’re overlooking the really messed up part of what you told me. She wasn’t just using you for a paycheck, Jaz! She was also criticizing you for being melodramatic and I think you even mentioned that she called you a dumb bitch. It’s one thing if she was using you, but add THAT on top of it? She was attacking your character and that’s not right.
Jazmyn: But… I still don’t get it. Why would she do ANY of that to me? All this time, I thought things were great just like before. God, what is WRONG with me???
Jazmyn pauses to wipe more tears away.
Derek: There’s nothing wrong with you…
Jazmyn: Yes there is! If my best friend from college is USING me and saying such awful shit about me behind my back, and if my own trainer and mentor in this business is sleeping with my then-boyfriend behind my back to sever the friendship we had, then certainly I am doing SOMETHING wrong to lose these friendships!
Derek tries reaching for Jazmyn’s hand in an attempt to comfort her, but she snatches it away, not having it.
Derek: It’s not you, it’s them. If you were the problem, do you think I’d want to spend the rest of my life with you? Think about that! You have your flaws just like everyone else and yes, I know sometimes you can be a pain to me and I can be a pain to you, but you have never been a problem. It’s the same thing with your birth mother. You’re not the problem and you never were. You’ve got to snap out of this cycle where you think that everything bad that happens to you is your fault.
Jazmyn remains calm and takes a few deep breaths. In her heart, she knows that Derek is right. But her stubbornness is still fighting her heart on that and there’s still a piece of her that wonders if she could have done anything different to prevent the situation at hand. This stubbornness is what drives her to suddenly slide off the bed and begin to bolt toward the door.
Derek: Jazmyn wait…
Jazmyn: You’re not stopping me!
Derek: What are you doing?
Jazmyn: I’m going to confront Camryn…
Derek: Jaz…
Jazmyn: NO! Don’t try changing my mind.
Jazmyn at this point has opened the door and has begun to step through it.
Derek: Be careful…
Jazmyn lets out another deep breath as she closes the door and bolts down the hallway. Her anger has mixed in with her sadness at this point as she bolts down the hall toward Camryn’s hotel room. The door is still left wide open, giving Jazmyn the opportunity to walk right in, catching Camryn by surprise as a raising of her eyebrows would indicate. Jazmyn doesn’t look at Camryn right away preferring to check if her eyes were dry enough before doing so.
Camryn: What’s the hurry?
Jazmyn collects herself without looking at her.
Camryn: Is something wrong? Is everything okay?
Jazmyn turns toward Camryn, arms folded and a look of anger on her face.
Jazmyn: Cash cow, huh?
Camryn’s eyes widen and she becomes completely frozen in shock as she clearly wasn’t expecting Jazmyn to drop such a bombshell on her. She looks down on the ground, knowing that she’s busted, but at the same time she chuckles some.
Camryn: Funny thing about context… it’s SO easy to misconstrue! You’re a big superstar now and you’re making so much money! I’m telling you, that book… New York Times BEST SELLER in the making.
Jazmyn: There’s not going to be a book… or a series.
Camryn: ...excuse me? What? But you’ve worked so hard on it!
Jazmyn: Cammie, do you plan on stopping your attempt to bullshit the “dumb bitch” that you “haven’t been friends with in years”?
Camryn: You AGREED to write it…
Jazmyn: Yes… because I wanted to inspire people with my story! I didn’t want to make a quick buck! Every cent that book made was going to go to charity…
Camryn: Fine.... FINE!
Camryn walks up to Jazmyn and glares her right in the eyes.
Camryn: Just so you don’t go crybaby bitch on me, I’ll tell you the whole truth but the moment I see a tear out of you, I’m kicking your ass!
Jazmyn: I don’t think you’re in position to make threats toward me. Why does me being a “crybaby” bother you so much?
Camryn sneers in her face before she backs up.
Camryn: You’re the NGW Five Lakes Champion, you’re the GCW Global Champion. You’re probably going into GCW’s Hall of Fame next year. You’re becoming iconic in the American South and one of the greats elsewhere in the nation, the continent and the world. You’re a couple of months away from marrying the love of your life. You’ve got it SO GOOD and yet… you cry… you worry… you keep questioning yourself… doubting yourself…. WHY?
WHY are you such a melodramatic little bitch, Jazmyn? You’ve got the WORLD in your hands and you STILL feel inadequate? Are you fucking kidding me? You turned 34 yesterday and when things don’t go your way, you buckle, you bend and you break! Even the smallest of criticisms turns you into the biggest of crybabies. Hello? Your birth mother is never going to accept you. I know she emotionally neglected you, but MOVE ON! You’ve got nothing to prove to her. Do you REALLY question yourself so much? Are you THAT emotionally fragile? Or is this all a glorified cry for attention?
Jazmyn’s anger continues to boil inside of her some as some hatred begins to fill her eyes. She balls up her fists to stop her hands from trembling and she’s trying to be as strong as she can be during this confrontation.
Jazmyn: So that’s it then? You can’t stand me being emotional? Yeah… I overreact sometimes. I make mistakes. I’m HUMAN, it HAPPENS. I am NOT going to apologize for wearing my heart on my sleeve because that’s what makes me who I am and YOU of all people should know that because I was the same way during college… albeit stronger these days… and you didn’t have a problem with it then. But NOW you do? Is that it? Have I become so unbearable to you? You can’t stand me anymore? I can’t believe this is a conversation right now!
Camryn folds her arms and looks at Jazmyn in a condescending manner.
Camryn: You are annoying, insufferable and melodramatic, but there’s a LOT more to it than that.
Jazmyn: So if you couldn’t stand me anymore, why reunite with me and go through the trouble of using me to line your own pockets?
Camryn scoffs and laughs.
Camryn: Good girl… you finally thought of someone other than yourself for a change. You know, it’s too bad you couldn’t do that in 2013 when you hit rock bottom and pulled a Britney on the world when you shaved your head in a cocaine-induced psychotic binge, or in 2012 when you fell into your little crack cocaine habit or hell, in 2010 when you decided to become a wrestler in the first place.
Jazmyn: What… what are you talking about? What the fuck are you saying right now? Are you… you’re…
Jazmyn gasps, realizing something so suddenly.
Jazmyn: ...you’re jealous of me…
Camryn: Jealous? No Jaz…
Camryn paces the room some.
Camryn: You abandoned me! We had it made in college, you and me. We had so much fun together and that even continued after we graduated and then… you wanted to become a wrestler and you trained so hard and you did all these great things and we started hanging out less, and less, and less… until you went mainstream and you forgot about the people that got you to where you are to begin with. And then… you fell into drugs. First world title match you ever wrestled in, remember that? Remember how you got screwed and how you blamed yourself and you started doing drugs? You weren’t thinking about our friendship! You weren’t thinking about the people. You weren’t thinking about your family! You were only thinking of getting a HIGH, you selfish, arrogant CUNT!
Jazmyn narrows her eyes upon hearing that, trying to prevent any tears from falling.
Camryn: You forgot me… it wasn’t until I found YOU last year that we started talking again.
Jazmyn: I had to work out my own issues… you knew that!
Camryn: Oh no worries, I understand that part of it. But what about when you graduated from rehab? When you got back into wrestling? When you won your first world championship? Did you make any effort to rekindle our friendship? NO, because YOU were too busy being wrapped up in all your bullshit wrestling fame! And you know what? I thought that getting some easy money off of you would be the sweetest revenge. I give no fucks at this point… about you… about your career… about your stupid friends that coddle you… about your dipshit father who enabled you to be such a fragile little crybaby… about Derek who I pray to god cheats on you someday… and I wouldn’t blame him.
Jazmyn: You are SO FIRED!!!!
Camryn shrugs.
Camryn: I got my money… book or not. You know that pre-sale money that was supposed to go to charity? It’s all in my bank account. Firing me doesn’t change that. Any last words before I kick you out of my room?
Camryn sits down on the corner of the bed, having a laugh to herself while Jazmyn tries to keep herself together.
Jazmyn: I’m sorry.
Camryn: Huh?
Jazmyn: I should have made a better effort to keep in touch with you, I own up to that. It’s no excuse, but after what happened with my drug addiction, I thought you’d want nothing to do with me anymore. That’s why I didn’t want to bother you. But still… I’m sorry… I’m sorry that the “fragile bitch” is YOU…
Camryn: ...WHAT?
Jazmyn: I “abandoned you”? REALLY? You took EVERYTHING personally… like my drug addiction was a personal affront to you… my success… personal affront! Everything you did was a cry for attention and I’M the one that’s guilty of that? I’m sorry that you felt so inadequate that you felt the need to stoop so low! I’m sorry for not being “good enough” for you, but you know what I’m never going to be sorry for? For being me! For making mistakes! For wearing my heart on my sleeve because honestly? Wearing a heart? It’s far better than not having one at all! I don’t need you, I never did need you. We’re DONE, Cammie!
Jazmyn turns and walks toward the door.
Jazmyn: By the way, I’m taking you to court for that money…
Jazmyn opens the door and slams it shut, bolting down the hallway as fast as she could before she runs into Derek halfway toward her own room, with her anger still flowing through her veins.
Derek: Jaz… you alright?
Jazmyn takes a couple of deep breaths, dissipating her anger and causing the tears she was holding back to flow as she nods.
Jazmyn: I’m going to be… but… that was so hard… I just lost a long time friend…
Derek pulls her into a hug to comfort her.
Derek: It’s alright. It’s over. At least you know the truth about her now!
Jazmyn nods.
Jazmyn: Some reality…
She sighs once more, before she and Derek walk arm in arm together back to the room. Heartbroken as she is about losing her long time friend, Jazmyn at least has the peace of mind and heart knowing that she can begin to heal from it and finally begin to be the human being she denied herself of being under the guise of being the Guardian Angel. While reality will definitely be painful, it will definitely make the Five Lakes Champion stronger in the end.
