Still don't know what I was waitin' for
And my time was runnin' wild
A million dead end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
How the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test
“So, here we are. This is the first time you’re going to have to face me inside a ring. And honestly, maybe it was meant to happen sometime soon. As you can see, I’ve got a hell of a backdrop to do this video. Mind the camera, though. It’s a small and compact camcorder from back in the day. I also had to try to get this at least to seven-twenty p, so that it wasn’t completely crap quality. I have assistance to upload this when I get back home. After someone is done yelling at me about leaving.”
The video opens up to a vision of the mountains of New Mexico. The mountains provide a bit of a contrast to the entirety of the desert landscape that surrounds them. Jaime is standing in front of the camera without anything close to long sleeves on. He’s definitely paying for it, as you see a slight shiver from his expression. He looks around for a moment and talks to the background for a moment.
“Serenity. Peace. Patience. Those things you learn as you gradually get a bit older. I’m getting there, honestly. I’m getting on up there in age. The age where I don’t have much time. The reason I don’t have much time? You have to think about the words of the late David Bowie. ‘Time can change me, but I can’t trace time.’ It was words of wisdom from Ziggy Stardust. He knew even his time was coming. It comes for all of us, sadly. We think we’re on top of the world…”
He looks forward at the camera again and nods to the audience watching slowly. He knew people would be watching. Sometimes, they can’t help but to watch what’s on the Internet these days. Much like the late David Bowie, he was the Oddity. Well into the time that most people would stop, he was pulling off something that very few have attempted. A comeback. Most people around his age realized that time was their enemy. He was no different.
“...for a while, I was on top of the world. The world passed me by long ago, however. The world passed me by, because I tried to hide myself in the world. I tried to live a normal life. I tried to go back to normal. I figured out something that my students kept telling me, Jessica. Something that you should not forget in this match. I’m not a normal man. I never have been a normal man.”
He looks at a side angle and smirks to himself for a moment. His demeanor changes to a bit of a serious one. As he thinks about the song in his head for a moment, he nods once again. He thinks about the old days. Those people he left behind long ago, where were they? Looking forward, he straightens himself out.
“I’ve always been bigger than the normal man. I’ve always been stronger than the normal man. I ate more than the normal man. I drank more than the normal man. To be blunt, I probably fucked more than the normal man. The man that was your teacher, Jessica. He came from years of self-abuse and self-loathing. I had to get to a reckoning. I had to get myself back to basics. If I didn’t, you would be burying me right now, instead of facing you.”
For something so somber, Jaime doesn’t change expressions at all. He just nods silently. Maybe he really has ice in his veins as the locker room has said about him. He heard the whispers after they helped Martin Karloff to the back. For someone who was supposed to be a man of peace, he unleashed unholy hell upon his opponent. Yet, that person was not even here in front of us.
“I may have lost a few steps in the ring over all. Time slows us down. There will be a time when you cannot fly anymore. There may be a time when the looks fade. There may be a time when the bubbly ass doesn’t stay so bubbly. That’s the time I’m looking at. I don’t have enough time left in this world to do what I wanted to do. However, I have two children that are on their way. Even if one of them is a complete emo prick at times. He gets it from his mother.”
Another smirk from the large Cuban. It seems he’s thinking about what words he wants to use this time towards his student… It seems he doesn’t want to use any of his bravado at all. He doesn’t want to use threats. And, he’s past insults at this point.
“You learned a little bit from Valero. I’m not going to knock Ricky at all. Ricky is good at what he does. Sadly, we never faced off together, because always the wrong place at the wrong time with either of us. He did teach you what I couldn’t, as well. However, Ms. Sears… I’ll go ahead and remind of you a great many things. There’s a reason I’ve been called ‘The Best in the World.’
I’m one of very few American based wrestlers that mastered the art of Japanese Strong Style. You witnessed it first hand on what I can do. I’ve been called the best pure striker in the history of wrestling. I hit with bad intentions. I knock people out without effort. That is who you’re facing, Jessica Sears. You aren’t facing the sensei in a teaching environment.
You’re facing Jaime Alejandro. The original Walking Riot. The Strong Style Saint. The Warrior Monk. Your final exam. Pin me. Time to level up, student. Or you’re going to be looking at a familiar sight… The lights.”
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Ooh, look out you rock 'n' rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Pretty soon now you're gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time
