The scene opens up on the usual NGW backdrop, and the always smiling face of Hannah Lacey as she stands tall holding onto a microphone. Hannah stares into the camera for a moment and then speaks up loudly.
”Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to interview my next guest. He made his debut in NGW at the last Dissension, but this is our first good look at him, and this week he has a tough match when he gets in the ring against the Face that Runs the Place, John Blade. Please welcome, the Dodge City Dynamo, Danny Colt!”
Indeed as Hannah finishes talking, into the shot steps Danny Colt with a wide smile on his face. He's wearing some jeans and a DODGE THIS singlet, and he just waits a moment to catch his nerves before looking at Hannah with a wide smile on his face.
”Hannah, thanks for having me.”
”I'm glad you made it this week. Now obviously last Dissension, it wasn't the ideal debut for you. All that time on the waiting list and you just didn't seem to handle it to well when you finally got the call up.”
”You're obviously right there. Look.....it wasn't the kind of start I would have liked to my NGW career. I've been waiting months for my chance to come here and show what I can do, and I just.....I wasn't even close to my best last Dissension. It's easy for me to point to being new, finding my way around the arena, struggling to understand the crowd. But those are all just excuse. And I'm not taking anything away from Levi or Ronnie. Those guys know what they are doing inside that ring, and they were much better then I was on the night. Levi got is arm raised, but Ronnie absolutely brought it, and I didn't. It's as simple as that.”
”Could you beat them if you were given a rematch?”
Danny waits a moment but then shakes his head with a smile.
”I don't know yet. I'd love to say yes, love to be that kind of a guy. But thats not me. All I can say is, every week I go out there and I learn more. Week by Week, I'm picking up more and more on the little things that I need to learn to become the best. So last week, Levi was better then me. The next time we meet, I'll have learned more, and be more prepared. But if it's enough? Well....that remains to be seen.”
Hannah smiles and nods, pausing to adjust her microphone while she looks back over to Danny with a soft smile.
”Well, this week you have another tough challenge when you face the Face that Runs the Place, John Blade. How do you rate your chances this week?”
”John Blade is a tremendous athlete. I think that needs to be said right away. The career that guy has had....for all the people that trash talk him behind his back, he has been everywhere and done everything. He's gone to company after company, and been a part of some of the biggest cards in wrestling history. I mean....when you're being given a Title Belt at WrestleMania X by Finn Whelan, you can pretty much say you've made it. So, I respect John Blade. I like John Blade, and this week it's his hometown, so I'm in for a tough fight, and I know that. I know how badly Blade wants to beat me, how badly he wants to get that win in front of his family and friends. If NGW had a show in Kansas, I'd be the same way.”
”Well, thats all well and good, but you didn't....”
”Answer your question? I know. I just....too many wrestlers this day get in front of a microphone and they start bragging and ranting about how good they are. They stand here, stare into the camera, and massage their own egos. They spend ages and ages going over all their accomplishments like they matter a damn. Thats not the way I was raised, thats not the way my mama brought me up, and thats not what I do. I want what I do in that ring to be all the talking I need to do. So you ask me, how I rate my chances against Blade? I'll tell you, I think my chances are decent. But I'm not underestimating John Blade. I'm going to go out to that ring, and I'm going to do my best to beat him. But Blade is competing for so much more then me. He's fighting for his hometown fans, and every fight he is in, he brings his best. So this week is going to be close.”
”Well, do you have any final words for Blade?”
”I've got a few.”
Danny turns and smiles at the camera, eyes staring into the lens as he grins.
”Blade, I respect you. And I know you're going to bring everything you have this week. This is a big week for you, and it could be said as just another week for me. After all, I don't have my family in the crowd. I'm not going up or down in the title rankings, and I get nothing but the satisfaction of a win, if I manage to beat you. But that doesn't matter to me, because I'm coming for one reason. I'm coming to see if you can do ONE thing. This week at Dissension, we're going to find out if you can DODGE THIS!”
Danny throws up a fist and stares at the camera, an awkward silence reigning for a moment before Hannah clears her throat.
”Uhhh....you know how silly you sound right now. Right?”
Danny sighs and lowers his fist before nodding, his head bowed as he looks at the ground.
”Yeah, I know. Sarah tells me all the time.”
With a shake of his head, and Hannah watches him go with a shake of his head as the scene cuts out
