Mason Moore's House, Las Vegas Nevada
Mason sits in his home gym, his head hung low as the lights have been dimmed down quite a bit. He's just sitting there in a simple pair of shorts and a Muscle & Fitness shirt. He reaches forward and presses record on this phone.
"There's this old saying... The more things change, the more they stay the same. As I think about my next match, that saying is sticking with me. For the 4th time in five matches, I find myself in a tag team match. Both of my opponents are people I have faced off with before, on at least one occasion. The one change is that I find myself teamed up with Coral Rose rather than my girlfriend Maria Valadez. Then again, that's a bit more of things changing and staying the same. Me and Coral, we go back a good ways. We have been allies before and continue to be friends. This is simply the first time new generation wrestling is getting to see the best-kept secret of the Midnight Horsemen. We like to refer to ourselves as beauty and the beast, and if you think I'm the beast in this, just go out there and piss Coral off."
Mason gives a slight smirk, a sense of his normal demeanor shining through.
"I know people are gonna bring up that Warfare crap or the Midnight Horsemen being disbanded for a long time. I have no doubt people will talk about the lack of tag team experience that myself and Coral have. Well, let me just go ahead and tell you why you're all stupid as fuck. Warfare was a complete debacle and all the fault of the asshat that got kicked out of the Horsemen. I and Coral were good and agreed on kicking him out and ending the whole damn thing. So there's those two done and not talked about ever again. Moving on to the whole experience thing. Well, the reason you're stupid if you bring that up, Avery and Daisy don't exactly have a lot of experience together as a team either. Daisy and Avery have actually been fighting each other on the last two shows and you know that he's gonna want another shot at the Spotlight title."
Mason pauses for a second and looks up at his trophy box, the lights over the replica Spotlight title almost completely out.
"I want everyone to remember that when I held that title, I recorded wins against Avery Miles and Daisy Rose. The way I won against Avery... it's not exactly one of my proudest moments, but I did pick up the win. Daisy is going to sit there and run her mouth about my victory over her being in a triple threat and how it doesn't really count because I pinned someone else and blah blah blah. Fact is, she was in the ring with me and I won the match. I won the match without having to have anyone come out and distract her. I have dominated her every single time we have stepped into the ring. The one time I and Avery fought, I was dealing with some personal shit, and if I'm honest... I had a slight hangover. Still, I found a way to win that match and remain champion. It might have been a bit dirty and dishonest, but all the record books show is that I beat Avery Miles. I have wins against both, I know how both work and my partner knows one of our opponents very well."
Mason looks back at the camera and takes a deep breath as he holds up his right hand and then raises a finger.
"That's how many wins I have in the last few months, but that win was in a tag match. I was teamed up with someone I trust, and we faced a team that we were favored to beat. As I said, the more things change, the more they stay the same."
Mason's middle finger twitches slightly and starts to rise up, then he raises it fully.
"Yea, two wins sounds much better than one."
Mason just nods his head as he smirks and the scene slowly fades.
