There are two perspectives in this video blog. One of them focuses on the West Coast Genesis Long Beach Champion himself, Remi Fontaine. The other one zones in on live gameplay of the Resident Evil 2: Remake E3 demo. There are two security guards standing by, keeping avid wrestling fans at bay while he starts the demo. The game begins with Leon S. Kennedy standing outside of the Raccoon Police Department.
“This oughta be good.”
Remi turns the game’s camera to simply take in the beautiful effects of the rain, the dark and ominous atmosphere, and the details in the simplest things. Even Leon’s hair, face, and attire are affected by the rain. With a smile, Remi guides Leon into the police station.
“Hello? Is anybody there?”
For a brief moment, Remi glances over to the camera recording him and he offers a cool smile.
“Bonjour, ladies and gentlemen. I’m the Rebel Angel and the WCG Long Beach Champ, Remi Fontaine. For this vlog, I’m doing something a little different. In case you don’t know where I am, I’m at the E3 Expo here in Los Angeles. This…”
He gestures with the PS4 controller towards the HDTV.
“...is the official Resident Evil 2 Remake demo. It looks fucking gorgeous. Signore Daniel Daemon hired a couple of gentlemen for security in order for me to record this in peace. You can still hear the commotion going on around me, but this is a live event. It’s to be expected. Speaking of live events, Hype’s coming up this Saturday.”
Remi manipulates the controls for Leon to approach the front desk. He picks up the box of handgun ammo, then he turns around to retrieve the first aid spray. He moves over to carefully examine the typewriter and a smile forms on the young man’s face. Oh, the nostalgia.
“Last time I was in San Jose, things didn’t go as planned. My official match record continued to fall apart and I was on the verge of leaving. It’s a good thing I didn’t. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be your current reigning and defending West Coast Genesis Long Beach CHAMP. This time, I’m facing off against newcomer ‘MG Moxie’ also known as Meryl Goldstein. She seems like a cool gal. Definitely not the innocent baby sister Josh makes her out to be, but y’know...
Before I continue with Meryl, let me talk about Unscripted for a sec. I defended my title in the main event against Austen Blackwell, but at the time I wasn’t aware of the fact that once again, Corey Carter fucked up. He didn’t see Austen’s foot on the rope, just like he didn’t see my foot under the rope. Quite frankly, I wasn’t going to allow my first defense to be tarnished by someone else’s mistake, so I offered him a rematch. Now he decided that he was going to earn the rematch and that’s perfectly fine. When the time comes, may the best wrestler win.”
Remi maneuvers Leon over to the R.P.D. security laptop and allows the cutscene to engage. The video recording the game itself stays focused while Remi looks towards the camera recording him.
“Mademoiselle Meryl, I know the kind of game you’re trying to play with me. You’re trying to make me second guess myself. The situation I’m in may not be idealistic to you, but to me it’s where I need to be. Lately, I’ve been trying to fight what’s right and wrong by everyone’s standards. What may be right to someone else may be wrong to me. Visa versa. I’ve been so worried about doing the right thing for everybody else that I forgot about myself. Heh, I guess it's a part of my upbringing. My father taught me to be selfless and compassionate. Sometimes we tend to overlook ourselves. This kind of nature also branches out to my aunt. She's so kind and caring. A little conflicted at the moment, but no one's perfect. And then there's my mentor. He's shown me a bright perspective in the darkness.
I trust in my dad, Aunt Xaria, and Tyberius King. I also trust in Daniel Daemon. He is quite the contrast to the three, but he allows me to find balance. I have strong relations with all four of them. What about your relations, Meryl? Your brother is clearly blind to your sultry, seductive personality. Johnny's your trainer, but you're not his protégé, are you? The only reason why you decided to pursue a career in this sport is because you wanted to get in Maverick’s pants. Unfortunately for you, he fell head over heels in love with my boyfriend's sister, Danni Anderson.
He's the one “notch” you want on your bedpost that you'll never, ever have… and that burns you, doesn't it? I wonder how badly it burned when Johnny and Danni opened themselves to polygamy with Maricela Reyes…
...and not you?”
A dark glare comes from Remi's bright blue eyes. He chuckles, turns his attention back to the demo, and moves Leon towards the east wing of the police station. The rookie cop pulls the lever to raise the shutters wielding a “KEEP OUT” sign, but it barely goes up, only leaving enough space for Leon to crawl under.
“You've made your observations, Meryl. So have I. Believe me when I say I'm not looking past you… as much as your sexual approach disgusts me. You know I'm gay and taken by Jesse, but you're still going to dress up like an amateur skank? Pathetic. You need to take this match seriously before you get caught up in your wild fantasies.
Otherwise? You're gonna get wrecked.”
The fans overhearing this cheer loudly before the guards quiet them down. Remi smirks and looks back to the camera.
“Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to indulge in this masterpiece of a demo. Get hyped. See you soon, Meryl.”
