The camera fades in with a wide shot of the façade of the venue for the upcoming episode of Hype. We linger here for a moment before the scene suddenly shifts to an interior shot, just inside the main entrance. From the rafters, several banners can be seen, promoting the superstars that will be competing, with the most prominent being that of the West Coast Champion, Donovan Basch. The camera pans directly down, revealing the back of former South Bay Champion Danielle Basch, who is staring up at the banner bearing her husband’s likeness.
Danielle: There he is... in all his magnificent glory...
Danielle lets out a dreamy sigh before turning around, smiling at the camera. She doesn’t seem to be the least bit bothered with being disturbed. As she faces the camera, we can see that she’s wearing the recently-released Donovan Basch Tri-City Titan Skyline t-shirt in blue over a pair of white jeans.
Danielle: Oh, hello there, WCG Universe! Don’t mind me... I’m just scoping out the venue, admiring the scenery before the show. To think that in just a few hours from now, these hallways will be packed with fans, looking forward to seeing their favorite superstars kick the shit out of their opponents. I mean, I know there’s two matches I’m looking forward to over all the others....
She casually glances up at her husband’s banner, a smirk forming on her face as she winks into the camera.
Danielle: As if one of them wasn’t obvious...
She lets out a little giggle.
Danielle: But as much as I’m looking forward to watching my husband DESTROY that little PISSMORE worm, I have my own match to deal with first. I wouldn’t want Melina Wilson thinking I wasn’t completely focused on my match against her, after all.
Now Melina, there’s plenty I could say about you, and some of it isn’t exactly very kind. But you know me well enough to know that even as much as you may piss me off at times, I wouldn’t stoop that low. You see, despite the fact that from the first time we crossed paths, you’ve had this air about you that you’re so much better than everyone else. From the beach party that Ruby Lance threw all those months ago as a means of bringing the WCG Roster together to the cracks that you’ve made at my husband’s expense. At times, it makes you just a little bit unbearable, and it’s no wonder your son often cheers for your opponents whenever you wrestle.
She lets out a scoffing chuckle.
Danielle: Hey, I said there were certain things I wouldn’t say. I never said that meant I was gonna kiss your ass.
Besides, I’m sure you’ll make a point of talking about how just two weeks ago, it was you that pinned my shoulders to the mat in that tag team match at Unscripted. Fine, whatever. But as I’ve said before, Donovan and I aren’t tag team wrestlers. That’s something we’ve made clear from the very beginning.
Nevertheless, this match is a chance for me to get a little redemption. This time, we’re facing off one on one. This time, you won’t have anyone in your corner to rely on; just you and me. And if you think I’m not going to use that tag match we just had as the motivation to beat you this time around...
Oh, let’s not kid ourselves, Melina; you know that’s exactly what I’m going to do!
Danielle takes a few steps toward a large brown kiosk, walking along the grey and white tiles that cover the floor in an abstract pattern. The names of the various people competing on tomorrow night’s card scroll and flash across the LED screen. The names “Melina Wilson vs Danielle Basch” scroll in, flashing on and off several times before scrolling away just as quickly as it had appeared. Danielle leans against the side of the kiosk and smiles.
Danielle: Go ahead, Melina. Talk about how this match is just one final obstacle on the path to facing my husband... and yeah, I know he has to go through PISSMORE before he faces you; I’m just that confident that Donovan WILL come out of that match with the championship STILL in his possession. I’m just the warm-up. Before you take on the TITAN of the Basch family, you have to deal with the dethroned former champion who’s currently just spinning her wheels in the mud. You’ll have to deal with the Danielle Basch that wants nothing more than to shake off the dust of previous defeats and fight my way back to championship gold. And if that path goes through you, Melina, then so be it.
Despite everything I’ve said, I actually DO have a moderate amount of respect for you. Which is why I didn’t resort to the same low blows that others have. Mainly because it doesn’t make any difference when it comes to wrestling. All that matters to me is the fight that you bring tomorrow night. As usual, I expect nothing less than your absolute best, because if you don’t bring everything you’ve got to this fight...
The camera zooms in on the former champion’s face as Danielle arches her eyebrow and cocks her head to the side, making a light clicking noise with her tongue.
Danielle: Well, let’s just say one of us isn’t going to have a very fun night.
Something catches Danielle’s attention from the corner of her eye. The camera follows the direction that she’s turning for a better look and spots her husband Donovan approaching with his hands stuffed into his pockets. The West Coast Champion is looking sharp in a grey dress shirt and slacks. When he reaches his wife, he rests a hand on the small of her back and kisses the top of her head.
Donovan: Ready for tomorrow night, dearest?
Danielle looks up into Donovan’s eyes and gives him a warm smile.
Danielle: You better believe I’m ready!
Donovan: Good to hear. So what do you say we go out and grab some dinner?
Danielle: Sounds great! Though maybe we should go back to the hotel so I can change into something a little less casual...
Donovan chuckles as he gestures for Danielle to lead the way off-screen. She takes a few steps before stopping to turn back to the camera.
Danielle: See you tomorrow, Melina....
She winks into the camera, which follows her and Donovan as they walk out through the convention center’s front door.
Donovan: You know, Nixy... you’ll turn heads no matter what you wear to dinner....
