***** ON CAMERA *****
Matt Shields rests upon his Knightmare thrown, wearing his black and purple horror jeans, one of his custom jackets, and his Knightmare King mask. He slightly raises the mask up and flips a switch, casting more light upon the dim Hall of Horror. Shields leans forward and smirks.
"Once again you find me in my sanctuary. You find me in my hall of horror. You see one of the legacies I can leave behind. It has taken me years to amass this collection, and it is still growing. I recently learned of a far greater legacy I will leave behind, as I found out I am a father. If Minoru wishes, I will teach him to wrestle. I will teach him all that I know, and I have no doubt he will make me proud. There is one other legacy I have, and just like this collection, it is still growing. My legacy as the greatest wrestler New Generation Wrestling has ever or will ever see. Now, I know some of you are sitting there rolling your eyes. Some of you are sitting there laughing. Some of you are sitting there making petty ass comments. Some of you though, you're nodding your heads in agreement. Congratulations, you are not complete fucking morons. You know that without Matt Shields, there is no New Generation Wrestling."
Matt stands up, pulls his mask off and sets it down on the throne. He walks out of the hall of horrors and heads down a long hallway. He opens a door at the end of the room and walks into a room full of TV monitors. He points and the screen lights up with a shot of him pinning Noah McKnight and then being handed the then Redemption Wrestling Heavyweight Title.
"That was the start of my legacy. The first show of Redemption Wrestling. The night the comeback of NGW was started."
He points again and this time a screen lights up with an image of a bloody Matt Shields holding the RW Heavyweight Title.
"Winter Solstice Night one, bloody and beat up, but still champion."
He points and this time, two screens light up. One on he is shown destroying the ankle of Jenson Idol, and on the other, he is shown forcing Avery Miles to tap out.
"Winter Solstice Night two. Forced to defend my title in a fatal four-way. Not only was I victorious, but I sent a piece of back alley gutter trash, out of the company and made it a better place."
He points again and now the rest of the screens light up, highlighting his other Heavyweight title defenses, him and Tillman winning the tag titles, and great matches he was part of.
"For three hundred and ninety-two days, I have been a champion in this company. That is something that no one else can say. Tillman is next with three hundred and seventy-eight. After him, maybe Daisy Rose or the Graves'. I'm not even sure if they crack the three hundred day mark though. For three hundred and ninety-two days, I have held gold in this company, yet there are people who call me a joke. I have held championship gold longer than anyone on this roster. I am the longest reigning heavyweight champion in company history. I am the second longest reigning tag team champion in this companies history. I have spent more time as a champion than some people have spent in this damn company. Yet there are people who sit there and have the nerve to call me a joke. There are people who think they can disrespect and discredit me. There are people that have been beaten by me, that sit there and say I don't matter. Well, what the fuck does that say about you?"
Matt just looks at the camera, stretches out his arms and shrugs as the monitors continue to play his highlights.
"It's not just the three hundred and ninety-two days of champion that make me the most important man in New Generation Wrestling. No, it is the six hundred and twenty days that I have carried this company on my damn back. From the moment I signed that Redemption Wrestling contract, I have been the cornerstone of this company. Without Matt Shields, there is no New Generation Wrestling. Without my run as heavyweight champion, the fan interest doesn't grow. Without the formation of The Destroyers, the people don't have someone to hate, and we all know that every story has to have a great villain. Without me, Devlin Scott isn't able to bring back the NGW brand. Without me, Redemption Wrestling crashes, burns, and Devlin is left back a square one. You really think this company makes it if Mark Storm or Giovanna Mancini or Noah McKnight wins that title at Zero Hour? Not a damn one of them are even here anymore. You really think this company survives if Jenson Idol or Avery Miles III or Levi Daughterty steal that title from me at Winter Solstice. Two of those three are gone and even Avery went and fucked off for a bit."
Matt just shakes his head as he looks back at the monitors. He grabs a remote and turns them all off.
"This company is not here today if I do not win, defend and keep that title for two hundred and fifty days. This company is not here today if I don't come back and carry it for six hundred and twenty days, and counting. Without Matt Shields, there is no New Generation Wrestling, for Deadeye to come back to. Trust me, I didn't forget who I'm facing on Sunday night. I just wanted to make sure that he knew who he was stepping in to the ring with. Lately it seems that there's a lot of people who just don't understand how important Matt Shields is to this company. Lately it seems that there's a lot of people who just don't understand how damn talented Matt Shields is. Lately it seems that there's a lot of people shooting off their mouths, but not actually saying a damn thing. So Deadeye, if you're gonna be one of these assholes that downplays my two hundred and fifty two day reign as heavyweight champion, don't. If you're gonna be one of those assholes who downplays my one hundred and forty days as a tag team champion, don't. If you're going to be one of those assholes who downplays my three hundred and ninety two combined days as a champion, don't. If you're going to be one of those assholes who downplays my six hundred and twenty days as the cornerstone of this company, you can shut your dick holster right now. If you're going to be smart and recognize what I have done for this company... If you're going to be smart and recognize how great of a champion I have been... If you're going to to be smart and recognize how I have carried this company on my back... then we won't have any issues, and Sunday night, I won't go out of my way to hurt you. I will simply go out there and do what I need to do to win. You haven't given me a reason to hate you Deadeye... yet."
Matt just stares straight ahead as the word "yet" lingers in the air. He continues staring as the scene slowly fades and then goes black.
