Austen Blackwell is standing outside of his usual shoe spot in Oceanside, California. Rocking his newest paid of Blue Kevin Durant kicks, he leans up against the wall. A Funko Captain America t-shirt that Mercedes got him and some cargo shorts, Blackwell seemed to be in good spirits.
Austen: Two weeks ago, I dominated Ares McCullough. And he left. He was halfway out of the door already. Just as I suspected. But the biggest impact from that match is what I said after the match. I called out whomever to make the match happen. Jimmy Pagan at Crossroad: Spotlight. I have yet to hear back, but I still wait. I keep personal life and business separate, so it is not something I talk to Mercedes about outside of the arena. But if she does not make it happen, I will go right to Devlin. So be it. I want Pagan inside of the ring. I am owed at least that.
A couple of people head into the shoe store as Austen looks over, and offers a nod. Sneakerheads are a tight-knit group. Trading shoes, showing off their collections. They may have different tastes from each other, but they appreciate one's collection game nonetheless.
Austen: I've been gaining some momentum lately, and it is being rewarded with the Main Event match. I am facing Remi Fontaine for the Long Beach Championship; a title that I said I wanted to win before heading my way back up to the South Bay Division. I am not looking that far ahead yet. Remi is a fighter. A scrapper. He has a lot of people in his corner rooting for him. I know that he is trained by some of the best. He is a fiery champion, and I intend on making him work to keep the title around his waist. I had some conversations with some friends of mine. I picked their brains. I learned what they thought I did well. And what I didn't do well. I got some insight into my own strengths and weaknesses. For Unscripted, I will be ready.
