“Flying High”
Date: May 27, 2018
Jazmyn Rain is now a three-time GCW Global Champion to go along with the NGW Five Lakes Championship she had already held going into this weekend. To say that up to this point, this is the best weekend of her entire career is a pretty big understatement. However, the Guardian Angel is well aware that her weekend isn’t over yet as she arrives at the hotel room of her agent slash old college friend Camryn Rourke who wanted to meet with her this morning. They exchange a hug for a few moments as Jazmyn places both of her championships on the counter. Camryn breaks the ice as the two begin the meeting that they had scheduled for this morning.
Camryn: You’re truly flying high now, aren’t you?
Jazmyn: Yeah… you can say that…
Jazmyn slightly blushes and chuckles some, exuding a bit of her Southern-style humility.
Camryn: Congratulations on becoming the GCW Global Champion, realizing a dream and to be blunt… knowing this wasn’t on your mind… righting a wrong that happened to you at Resurrection two years ago.
Jazmyn slightly pouts at that last part.
Camryn: I mean… you WERE robbed two years ago, there’s no denying that.
Jazmyn: I don’t care about that anymore. What I care about is the last two years and how much I’ve grown as a person and a wrestler to make Friday night possible. When I celebrated with the fans after the fact… everything felt so right! Dare I say, I felt like I was living in a perfect moment! I knew that there was nothing that was going to go wrong. I knew that there wasn’t going to be anyone back there that was going to try to steal this moment from me. This whole journey the last two years…
Jazmyn looks at the two championships of hers that she just placed on the counter moments ago.
Camryn: It’s almost like you can write a book about it…
Jazmyn laughs.
Jazmyn: I already AM writing one…
Camryn: Well, you’re going to be writing more than just one, let me tell you that much right now.
Jazmyn: Huh?
Camryn: Let’s just say that the publishing company is VERY impressed with what you’ve written so far! From what I’ve read, and from what they’ve read, it’s an incredibly gripping read! You’ve got so much to talk about still and they would like you to break it down into a series!
Jazmyn: A SERIES? What??? Can’t I do it all in one book?
Camryn: If you put it all in one book, it’s going to be about the size of a Stephen King-novel and a half! But, if you break it down to a few books chronicling every stage of your career… this is something that could really be a marketing boon for you for many years to come! I know that’s not your cup of tea, but you know you’re not going to be wrestling forever.
Jazmyn: Yeah, that’s true. I’m barely about to write the chapter where Myra got injured and I finally got my chance to show what I could do!
Camryn: That’s going to be a great chapter! What about the one after that?
Jazmyn: My first singles championship…
Camryn: I’d say that’s a great place to end the first book.
Jazmyn: I haven’t even titled it yet. I don’t know, the concept of a “series” hasn’t sunk in yet, but I do see your point. Gosh, I need to figure out a title for it too. When do they want to release it?
Camryn: First week of October! So? What do you say? Make it a series? You are at the peak of your popularity, Jazmyn! This book is going to sell! You know that! This could even be a post-wrestling career for you!
Jazmyn thinks about the idea a little more and reflects on the book that she’s written so far. Internally, she’s proud of it. She does feel conflicted because she’s writing the book to inspire people, not to set up a post-wrestling career or to make extra money on the side. However, it doesn’t take her long to realize that the more she writes, the more she can inspire others just like her. Upon coming to this realization, Jazmyn takes a deep breath letting loose all internal conflict and she responds.
Jazmyn: We can call the entire series the “Guardian Angel Chronicles”.
Camryn: I LOVE IT!
Jazmyn: As for this first book… I can see it… “Guardian Angel Chronicles: Growing My Wings in the World of Professional Wrestling”.
Camryn: You’re a natural at this, Jaz! I’ll let the publishing company know the details as soon as possible.
Jazmyn sighs, though it’s not one that indicates trouble, it’s one of reflection. The Global and Five Lakes Champion picks up her two championships from the counter and walks to a chair to sit on it while placing both titles on her lap. Her journey over the last 26 months starts to flood back to her as it gives her so much perspective of how far she’s come since the most devastating, heartbreaking, unfair moment of her entire wrestling career at GCW’s Resurrection V event in St. Louis. She’s definitely feeling emotional, but she’s become so strong over the last two years and two months that crying is the last thing on her mind.
Camryn: Is there something wrong?
Jazmyn: How did this all happen?
Camryn raises her eyebrows some, indicating some surprise at the question Jazmyn just asked.
Jazmyn: Two years ago…
Her eyes glisten some, but she’s still able to maintain her composure.
Jazmyn: Everything just seemed so… wrong… I was robbed of the championship in GCW, Trenton Snow was in the midst of the worst Global title reign of all time, I was dealing with Myra’s crap, I was being stalked by Jefferson Bentley endlessly and the obstacles I was dealing with at the time seemed insurmountable at various points. I was dealing with perhaps far too much! And now? Everything seems so right! I know that I’ve grown, I know that I’ve become stronger and better and so much of my obstacles helped me along the way there, but I never imagined a scenario where I’d be a double champion, or that I would realize a dream like I did on Friday. I am certainly having the time of my life right now and the best part is that I’ve inspired so many others, friends and fans alike, throughout the way!
Camryn flashes a smile for a few moments knowing the plights and the pratfalls that Jazmyn has gone through not just the last two years, but for more or less her entire adulthood dating back to their college years and the moment Jazmyn took her first step to becoming a professional wrestler.
Camryn: You never gave up… even through the crap you went through two years ago… even through your old drug problems you were going through five years ago… you just didn’t know the meaning of the word “quit”. I know you’re not going to outright admit it, but you’ve established yourself now as one of the best wrestlers in the world! Take joy in that! Don’t take it for granted! Honestly, everything that you’re experiencing now? It’s overdue! This is what you should have been experiencing six years ago when you won the first ever world title match you competed in, in PRW. But, I suppose things turn out the way they do for a reason. Time perhaps, has shown that maybe you just weren’t ready for this six years ago. But you ARE ready to be the superstar that I know you are and what you should do now is embrace it because you ARE it, Jazmyn!
Jazmyn looks up at Camryn, though with a hint of uncertainty in her eyes.
Camryn: I know that the publicity and the popular demand isn’t why you do what you do! I know that being a megastar in this business is the furthest thing from your mind, but that’s exactly what you are now! I’m not saying that you have to make it your life and career and that you have to act like you’re a big star and you know it. But you and I both know that this isn’t going to last forever because sometime down the road, there could very well be a new Guardian Angel waiting in the wings to do the amazing things you’re doing right now. That’s the nature of wrestling. Your time IS now… and once it’s over… whenever that may be… it’s over.
Jazmyn: You’re absolutely right.
Jazmyn sighs again as she stands up holding both of her championships over her shoulder.
Jazmyn: I’ve got two championships now, and who knows if I’ll ever be able to pull that off ever again. I know that there will be a time and a place where someone will come in and replace me. Nobody in professional wrestling is irreplaceable after all! So you know what? Maybe I should enjoy it while it lasts! I’ve EARNED this, and I’ve done so for so long! There’s no reason for me to feel otherwise… or to question it!
Camryn: I’m so happy you see it that way, especially with the kind of weekend you’re having!
Jazmyn smiles with confidence.
Jazmyn: And I’m going to end the weekend in style too… by doing my part in doing what I do to protect the sanctity of this business and that part is ensuring that the Destroyers are FINALLY a thing of NGW’s past!
Camryn: We know you got this, girl!
Jazmyn and Camryn exchange another hug.
Jazmyn: Thanks!
Jazmyn smiles before she walks out of Camryn’s hotel room! She makes her way down the hall with both of her championships in hand and while she does so, she reflects on her journey that has brought her to this point. Jazmyn can’t stop smiling realizing now more than ever that she has truly evolved from a “late bloomer” in the business to being one of the very best professional wrestlers in the world!
After years of trials and tribulations, Jazmyn Rain is flying high!
