Rebel Ink Tattoo & Piercing – Damon’s Workstation
Inglewood, CA
Thursday, May 24, 2018
Damon Graves sat on a stool with his back to the camera, a tattoo machine buzzing in his hand as he added color to a client’s backpiece – a massive sprawling image of Illidan Stormrage with his wings outstretched, spreading from one shoulder to the other. The vibrant hues of green and purple almost seemed to glow as Damon went to work, adding more color to the piece. As he packed more bright green into the tattoos that covered Illidan’s own body, the camera panned to the side, revealing the heavily tattooed arms of Aurora Graves as she stood with her hands on her hips, her head turned to gaze at her husband’s work. She marveled at his work for a moment, smiling proudly before turning to face the camera.
Aurora: You know, when it comes to World of Warcraft, I’m a HUGE lore nerd. I could tell you everything about the character being inked into this man’s skin – things you probably don’t even care about.
The point is, when it’s something I’m passionate about, I do my damnedest to throw everything I’ve got into making sure I’m right up there with the best of the best. And while my last match didn’t turnout the way I had hoped it would, I’m not the kind of woman to wallow in my own defeat. I pick myself up, shake the dirt out of my clothes, and I keep pushing forward. After all, once it’s over and done with, there’s no need to go back to try to change anything. You just take a closer look at what happened, then make sure you don’t repeat the same mistakes.
So the next time you see your name across the card from mine, Coral...
She shook her head, that trademark defiant gleam flashing in her azure eyes.
Aurora: Don’t you DARE expect the same outcome, because the strategy will be completely different. But for now, it’s time for me to move on to bigger, better things, like working my way back up to the top of this business.
She paused, chuckling softly as she strolled along the wall behind Damon. There, attached to the exposed brick, hung a collection of Damon’s artwork, ranging from simple images of roses entwined around anchors to highly-detailed portraits of angels wrestling with dragons. One image in particular stood out among the sketches and paintings; a framed image of Aurora and Damon with their first NGW Tag Team Championship belts.
Aurora: I know, I know... I haven’t even BEEN at the top of this company, not even during NGW’s first run, so how can I say I’m getting BACK to a position I’ve never even held?
Think what you want, but less than a year ago, I was wrapping up my rookie year under the Redemption Wrestling banner. A year that saw me and my husband win the Tag Team Championships on three separate occasions through Devlin Scott’s brand – four if you count that other company we briefly worked for. If that alone doesn’t put the name “Graves” up among some of the best in this business, then I don’t know what will. And with my husband as the reigning Young Lions Champion, I think it’s time I made the push to balance out the Graves family trophy case. You know, add a few of my own singles championships.
But in order for me to do that, I need to work my way up the ladder, which is just what I plan on doing. And what better way to make a case for myself as a championship contender than to take on a bona fide Hall of Famer, a man whose very name makes people stand up and take notice?
Which is why when I found out I was taking on the legendary Dead Eye himself, I thought “well, bring it on, motherfucker!” You see, I may not have been around NGW back when Dead Eye roamed the locker room, but I’ve heard plenty from Avery. I’ve heard enough to know that the man is most definitely no slouch in the ring. You can’t even mention the NGW Heavyweight Championship without bringing up Dead Eye, so for me, a win against a legend such as him will
This Sunday at Victory and Honor, it’ll be the Hall of Famer taking on the bitch that puts the “Rebel” in “Rebel Ink.” And Dead Eye, you’re going to find out first hand that everything Avery’s said about me is 100% truth. After the match is over, we can focus on the out of the ring stuff, especially once Avery and Serenity’s twins are born. But for now, this is strictly business. Speaking of which...
Damon’s tattoo machine went silent, and Aurora turned around to see that he was now in the process of wiping down his client’s back. With a smile, Damon pushed his stool back and directed his client to the full-length mirror on the wall.
Damon: Alright... we are all done. You wanna take a look?
The client nodded his head, eagerly making his way to the mirror. With his back to the mirror, Aurora reached for a nearby hand mirror that had been resting on a counter beside her. The client angled the mirror so that he could see the reflection of the finished tattoo.
Client: Oh, that is SICK! Thanks a lot, man!
Damon: Don’t thank me; thank my wife. She’s the one that helped me sketch it out. I don’t think I would have been able to do the character justice without her description.
Aurora smirked as she tilted her head in Damon’s direction.
Aurora: He was not prepared...
Aurora and the client immediately began to laugh at the joke. Damon merely rolled his eyes.
Damon: Ha ha... very funny.
As Damon and his client continued to discuss business, the camera turned to center on Aurora. With her trademark smile on her face, she stared into the camera, once again crossing her arms.
Aurora: And this Sunday at Victory and Honor, Dead Eye...
She leaned forward, narrowing her eyes as the camera zoomed in for a tight shot of her face.
Aurora: Are YOU prepared?
As the camera slowly panned away, Aurora turned to look at her husband’s client, while the camera zoomed in on the tattoo of Illidan Stormrage. Aurora stepped out of frame, chuckling softly as the scene slowly faded to black.
