++++++++++ ON CAMERA ++++++++++
Jason Hunter sits inside the training ring at the gym of his mentor Matt Shields. A small bit of sweat drips from his forehead as he's finished up with his training for the day and just relaxing. The camera is set up in the corner as he rest there, clad in a simple pair of dark green work out shorts. He tapes a sip of water, wipes a bit of sweat from his brow, then reaches behind him and brings what looks like a magazine forward. He motions for the camera to move in, and whoever is recording does as asked. As they get closer they see that it is a West Coast Genesis calendar. He opens it up and right there for January is Melina Wilson. His lips curl into a sneer and he quickly flips to February where Danielle Basch resides. March, Adam Sanders, April Austen Blackwell, May Iphigenia Medrapedes, June Tasmin Richards, July has Juliana DiMaria, August Shawn Young, September Sela Rica Lark, October has the former Nite Stalker, November James Pridemore, December Keiji Sugiwara. Hunter goes back through all the months, then closes it back to the cover featuring Donovan Basch holding the West Coast Championship high in the air. He shoves it away from him and just sits there in silence for almost thirty seconds.
"Did you notice something missing from that calendar. Thirteen current and form West Coast Genesis wrestlers were chosen for this thing, but not me. There's no way in hell that Iphigenia Medrapedes, Shawn Young, Sela Rica Lark, that schizo Pridemore or Stalker or Pagan or whatever he's calling himself, deserve to be in there more than me. I am the best damn wrestler on this entire roster. I am THE top guy. I am the one who delivers on the big stage, under the bright lights. I have proven this time and time and time and time again. They want to disrespect me and not include me in this/ Well that's just fine. There's only 2 dates that really matter anyway."
Hunter grabs the calendar back, goes to a month and starts tearing through it. He rips out the March, April, and May sections of the calendar, then grabs a red sharpie. He places the three months down side by side, then circles a date in March and a date in May.
"March tenth, two thousand and eighteen."
He points down at the first circled date.
"That was the night that I won my guaranteed West Coast Title match. That was the night i avenged my loss to Donovan Basch. That was the night I changed the future of West Coast Genesis forever."
He then points to the next circled date.
"May nineteenth, two thousand and eighteen. That is the night I make the West Coast Championship mine. That is the night I officially claim my spot as THE top guy. That is the night I usher West Coast Genesis into it's glorious future."
Hunter then puts his left hand pointer finger on March tenth, and his right hand pointer finger on May nineteenth.
"Seventy days between me earning the title match, and me claiming the title match and the title. In that seventy days, nobody has been able to beat me one on one. There may be that loss in that stupid tag match, and there may have been that DQ against StalkDanielPagan, but nobody beat me one on one, and that is because nobody can beat me one on one. Not without someone else sticking their nose in the match. The only person that can claim a singles victory over me, is my girlfriend and obviously I wasn't completely focused in that match. Plus, that was my first official match in West Coast Genesis. You have to go all the way back to August of last year to find someone who got what could be called a clean win against me. One on one, nobody has performed at my level. There's nobody else in this damn company that can claim one one one victories of the West Coast and South Bay champions. That is why when I say I am THE top guy, it's not just a clever little catch phrase, it is one hundred percent gospel truth. Don't believe me? When you die, go find God, ask him who the best wrestler in all of West Coast Genesis was, and don't you dare be shocked when he tells you that it was Jason Hunter."
Hunter takes his fingers off the pages of the calendar, shoves March and April away, then picks up May. he rips the page apart, tosses it and holds the small scrap that simply says 19 on it.
"Remember this date. May nineteenth, two thousand and eighteen. If you're in Oakland, you better be at this damn show. There's literally no other reason why anyone should ever be in Oakland. It's a hell hole on par with Toldeo or Philadelphia or any city in Florida. If you aren't there to watch Hype in person, you damn sure better be watching the broadcast of it. May nineteenth, two thousand and eighteen, history will be made. I don't say that just because both the South Bay and West coast titles are on the line. I don't just say that because you have a husband and wife defending their respective champions against a girlfriend and boyfriend. I don't just say that because you get to see Alicia Hixx now lose in a West Coast Genesis ring. I don't just say that because you hopefully get to see Carter Strong completely and literally squash Melina Wilson. No no no. All of those things definitely make this an important edition of HYPE."
Hunter just nods his head a bit before he stands up and looks straight down at the camera.
"Why you need to remember May nineteenth, two thousand and eighteen though, well it's because that is the night you see the landscape of West Coast Genesis completely change. That is the night you watch not one, but two title changes. That is the night that the Basch family loses control of West Coast Genesis, and THE Top Guy, and his Tassie Devil take it. Semi Main Event, Tasmin Richards defeats Danielle Basch for the South Bay Championship. Main Event, Jason Hunter defeats Donovan Basch for the West Coast Championship. May nineteenth, two thousand and eighteen is the night that West Coast Genesis truly becomes something special. With me at the helm, the ratings will improve, the attendances will improve, the venues will improve, the quality of the fans will improve. i am THE guy that people want to see. I am THE guy that people talk about. I am THE top guy and soon enough I will be THE West Coast Champion."
Hunter just raises his hand high in the air and stands right in the middle of the ring as the lights around him slowly go out until only a single light shines down on him, forming a spotlight.
