Avery: My brother.
Avery Miles III is sitting in his living room. Feet kicked up on the coffee table. To his side on the couch was the television remote. Avery picks it up as some familiar sounds were heard. The camera spins around and it shows the end of Avery and Dead Eye facing off. It was about two and a half years ago where Avery Miles III lost a match to his then enemy Dead Eye. This was a pivotal match in the career of Charles James, some could argue, as it was the beginning of his rise to the NGW Unified Heavyweight Championship. Dead Eye was the in-between the old New Generation Sports Entertainment days of champions like John William Kingsley and the future of New Generation Wrestling champions like Gavin Grimes. Dead Eye returns to NGW in a time where the roster is as strong as ever, and this is greatly reflected in the matches at each pay-per-view.
The match nears the end as we see both Avery and Dead Eye down on the hard mat that surrounds the ring.
NGW: All Wrapped Up
Saturday, December 19th, 2015
Venue: Hara Arena - Dayton, Ohio
Both men stir as Avery is able to get to his feet. He yells as Karin to back up. Avery grabs Dead Eye as he seems to be in a daze. Avery whips Dead Eye into the corner of the outside area right for the Christmas Tree at ringside
West: Oh no! Dead Eye is going to have his jingle bell rung!
Jackson: Did you really...
West: I apologize... I figured that if Dead Eye was doing the humor thing...
Just as Michael West was finishing his sentence, Dead Eye comes crashing over the announcer's table as the Christmas Tree is now strewn out on the floor below with ornaments and lights everywhere. Avery whipped Dead Eye into the table. He charges forward as Dead Eye tries to pull himself up. Avery pulls Dead Eye up the rest of the way and grabs him looking to suplex Dead Eye through the table
Jackson: Both men are right here at ringside... and Avery is looking to finish this!
As Avery lifts Dead Eye he is in full control. He stalls for a minute and then something comes across Avery
West: What is going on?
Avery drops Dead Eye back down to his feet as Avery falls to his knees. Avery lowers his head and begins a wave of emotion
Jackson: Well we saw earlier this week that Avery Miles suffered a loss in his family... both his wife and unborn child were killed in a car accident. And it looks like it is all just catching up with him...
Avery does not seem to be in any right sort of mind and oblivious to what is going on. Dead Eye is unsure of what to do at first but he sees his opening and proceeds to hit an enziguri dropping Avery to his back. Dead Eye grabs him and whips him back into the ring. Dead Eye climbs the turnbuckle from the outside and raises to his feet on top of the turnbuckle. He jumps off hitting Red Death (450 Splash) followed by the pin.
The camera pans back to Miles.
Avery: We were enemies first. We did not like each other. But we sure have come a long way, haven’t we CJ?
He smiles as he grabs the remote and turns the television off.
Avery: 2015 was a rough year for me. I took a lot of bumps and bruises, but I came out the other side. And in 2016? Greatest year of my career. I did some great things, and it is about time I get back to that same place. This latest run I’ve been on has not been the best, but I am working on building a solid run. It begins in the fall with a win over the darling Rayven Hardy. I’ve amassed some wins here or there, but it is time I fully step into the spotlight. We need to step up and take our rightful place. Back then? You saw the opportunity when I lost it. Life caught up with me and hit me at the worst moment. And you did your job, putting me down for the three count. Well, CJ. Don’t you think I won’t do the same? If you freeze. If you stutter step. Hell, if you even just delay yourself for the slightest second… I WILL take advantage of the situation. It is just business, right CJ?
You taught me that I needed to reach up and take what I felt I deserved. Now while I know that neither of us will step on toes or kick others down to take what we feel we deserve, you were one to never take a back seat. Me? I often did. But I learned that lesson the hard way. And I intend on using the lesson to its full potential. We are facing off, and you seem to not want to do this so quickly. I get the vibe that you feel you are not ready for it. But Nah, that is not the CJ that I know. We push each other. We push each other to new heights. It just so happens that this time around, it will be my arm being raised after the match is over.
I do not regret what I’ve done for you. You are my brother; we are fam. I’ve been there for you and opened you into my world. Before this match, and after it… we are brothers. Nothing changes that. But what happens between those bells is just business. It is not personal. It is no reflection on my feelings for you. I am doing what I could not do in 2015, and beat you. I am not going to put up a front. I could not get the job done then. Now? I fully intend on doing so. I plan on changing history. I plan on making you eat your words, CJ.
The thing is, I hope you are at your best. I hope you have no excuses. I truly hope that I beat the best version of Dead Eye possible. And I do not want you to let me down, CJ. Do not come into this match with any fear in your mind. I want the Dead Eye that won the NGW Unified Heavyweight Championship. I want the Dead Eye that showed me no mercy at All Wrapped Up. Bring everything that you have, CJ. I want it. I expect it. I thrive on wanting to face only the best. I intend on cashing in my Spotlight Title shot sooner than later. I know that the belt is two rungs below where I want to be, but I also want to earn my keep. I want to earn my place. I want to earn the respect of the fans and the locker room. I will be seeing you Sunday. Looks like family dinner is going to be in Pittsburgh.
Avery leans back on the couch the smiles as he knew that it was only a matter of time before Dead Eye would have a retort. This was like the old days for Avery, and he loved it. Dissension was going to be a huge chance for him to make history and put this behind him. It was not going to be the last time he faced Dead Eye, but it was going to be the start of the next step of their rivalry. This was going to be fun for the both of them.
