“Blissful Perspective”
Opening Thoughts
“In a way, winning the Five Lakes Championship appeared to lift an incredible weight off of my shoulders. For whatever reason, I felt like I always had something to prove. For years, I felt like I had a chip on my shoulder. It’s like no matter what I was able to accomplish, I never felt fully satisfied and I would never allow myself to enjoy the moment too much. I definitely never took it for granted, I’ll say that for a fact but the real fact of the matter is that there was always a piece of me that worried so much. This piece is what kept me subdued on the positive because I was worried too much about coming off as arrogant or overconfident or something to that effect. But as it turns out, with everything that I’ve done in my career, I have every reason to be proud and to be happy! I have every right to enjoy the positive spoils of my career and my life. Five years ago, both were in the gutter entirely. Two years ago, I once felt that I would never experience consistent happiness being so used to cruelty and misery from others and from life itself.
But then, I grew stronger and became the Guardian Angel and everything suddenly changed.
For years, I couldn’t find the man I would want to marry. I was either rejected or outright cheated on. Now? I have that man. For so long, I went without a world championship, but now I’ve won two, and I’m darn confident that a third is on its way. For months in NGW, I was worrying about being noticed and far too concerned about people overlooking me in comparison to the rest of the Guardians. Now? I’m the one Guardian that is carrying a championship in NGW… and I am NOT going to be a one-hit wonder at that! With everything in perspective, I believe in my heart of hearts that this score with Jack Tillman will be settled… and it’ll be settled my way!

NGW Five Lakes Champion Jazmyn Rain is in a joyful mood as she walks with her fiance Derek down the hallway heading toward his hotel room. Jazmyn has been staying with Adrien Cochrane all week while she prepares for the next GCW episode of Livewire there’s nothing but happiness emanating between the two of them which was a far cry from when things seemed like they were on the fritz just before Battle for London. Jazmyn is wearing a short, sleeveless purple dress with a pair of black, Mary Jane high heel shoes and she is very much enjoying the company of her fiance as the two begin to walk arm in arm.
Derek: You had fun, right?
The two stop and Jazmyn has a chuckle to herself.
Jazmyn: I had a great time.
Once the two arrive at the hotel room, Derek unlocks the door and opens it, allowing Jazmyn to walk in first. Derek walks in behind her and Jazmyn takes in the sights of the room which overlook part of the French Quarter in New Orleans. She turns toward Derek, who seems to be in quite a gaze, one in which Jazmyn notices right away.
Jazmyn: What?
Derek: Huh?
Jazmyn: Why are you looking at me like that? *laughs*
Derek: Oh… uh… I’m sorry Jazmyn I… I can’t…
Jazmyn: You can’t… what?
Derek: I can’t get over how beautiful you are!
Jazmyn blushes a bit and she runs right into him allowing him to hold her very close.
Jazmyn: You didn’t have to say that!
Derek: I wanted to say that, because you really are the most beautiful person on the face of the earth. I would save your life any time, even if it meant sacrificing my own.
Jazmyn: Oh my gosh…
Jazmyn doesn’t have too much time to process what she just heard as Derek picks her up off of the floor and sweeps her off of her feet. He cradles her as tightly as he can as the two exchange a kiss.
Derek: I can’t imagine my life without you!
Derek carries Jazmyn to the bed and gently places her on it.
Jazmyn: I… I don’t understand…
Jazmyn turns on her side as Derek lies down next to her.
Derek: You don’t understand? What don’t you understand?
Jazmyn: I’ve always wanted to ask you this: what is it that you saw in me when we first met in high school? You told me you had a crush on me from then and even now, I’m so touched that you were so devoted to me that you never wanted any other woman but me. What was it about me that made me so attractive to you?
Derek smiles before he answers.
Derek: Think about what you’ve accomplished as a person and a professional wrestler these last 25 months and you’ve got yourself an answer. Ever since you began to grow into the Guardian Angel, you’ve shown how strong you really are. I always knew you had it in you, beautiful. You just needed to find a way to see it and believe it. I know you still had some jitters coming out of you in NGW, but now that you’ve won the Five Lakes title finally, I think you finally realize how strong you truly are, without a shadow of a doubt.
Jazmyn: I used to think that I was the most worthless person in the world at one point…
Jazmyn sighs, before continuing.
Jazmyn: I couldn’t win a world championship. I kept giving people every reason to believe I was a massive screw up. I kept feeling like I was proving Catarina right every time I failed because the woman that gave birth to me never saw anything in me, so how was I supposed to see anything in myself? My last boyfriend cheated on me with Myra, Resurrection two years ago in GCW was the most horrific night of my entire wrestling career and it’s like… I never thought I would find perfect happiness. In fact… a day or two before I got struck by my cardiac arrest… there was a part of me that wanted to die because I was so fed up with suffering…
Revealing this to Derek causes Jazmyn to cry a little as tears stroll down her face. Derek wipes them away and Jazmyn smiles, grateful that the love of her life is there for her.
Jazmyn: And then you saved my life! The moment I heard you tell me that you loved me while I was in the hospital was a moment that changed my life more than I could ever know because until then, all I ever saw myself was this big joke of a screw up that could never do right and the fact that someone loved me despite all that… it helped me see how wonderful I truly am…
Jazmyn’s eyes glisten some more with tears of joy.
Jazmyn: I swear, I’m the luckiest woman in the world! I have everything so good now! I’m so… so lucky…
Derek: No, you’re not lucky. You’re amazing!!!
Jazmyn: Derek!!!
Derek: You are! Didn’t winning the Five Lakes Championship the way you did finally solidify that?
Jazmyn: It did!
Derek: If anything, I’M the lucky one!
Jazmyn: Don’t say that!
Derek: It’s true! The odds leaned far more to the two of us never getting together than they did getting married. I know that we were meant to be and the same goes for your growth and your success these last two years. It’s been a privilege being part of the ride with you and September 2? Gosh, that day can’t come fast enough!
Jazmyn: I know!!!! Oh my gosh, that day… I just… I can’t describe how much that day will mean to me because it’s going to be a dream come true!
Jazmyn scoots on the bed a little so she could lean in to be held by Derek. The two exchange a warm embrace while they lie down together and the moment for Jazmyn can only be described as perfect. This incredible bliss is something that at one point in her life, she never felt she would ever experience. Derek doesn’t let go of her for a while as he kisses her in the forehead. Jazmyn closes her eyes and just enjoys the moment, not letting anything or anyone else get in the way. Her eyes only open back up when she hears her phone ring from her purse which she had placed on the counter when they walked in. Jazmyn just ignores it, not paying it much mind. However, it rings a second time within a minute that it stopped ringing.
Derek: Are you going to get that? It might be important!
Jazmyn: There’s nothing more important than you and I right now!
Jazmyn smiles as she continues to enjoy the comfort she’s experiencing in Derek’s arms. The phone stops ringing again and Jazmyn closes her eyes to try and relax again, but the phone rings a third time. Jazmyn slightly groans, not quite thrilled with the constant interruption of who is calling her. She breaks free from Derek for a bit as she rolls back toward the side of the bed and sits up.
Derek: Need me to go get that?
Jazmyn: No, I got it...
The phone stops ringing before Jazmyn can make another move.
Jazmyn: I just… um… I don’t want to trip over these shoes sliding off the bed.
Derek: You know you could just take them off, right?
Jazmyn: Oh yeah… *laughs*
Jazmyn takes a second to unstrap and remove her high heels before she slides off the bed to walk toward her purse on the counter. She reaches inside the purse and pulls out the cell phone. She looks at the three missed calls and her eyes widen a bit as she sees a familiar phone number.
Jazmyn: Odd… you never call unless it’s… oh… well… it is coming up…
Derek: Everything okay, Jaz?
Jazmyn: Yeah, it’s just Catarina trying to call me.
Derek: Your birth mother?
Jazmyn: Yeah…
Jazmyn understandably isn’t too thrilled about the idea of having any regular contact with her birth mother.
Jazmyn: Mother’s day is coming up and it’s probably just some arrangement to talk that day. That’s the only time we ever really communicate with each other anymore.
Jazmyn however, is caught off guard by the sudden sound of a text message notification.
Jazmyn: Okay, she NEVER texts me…
Jazmyn takes a deep breath as she opens and reads the text message. Her eyes widen and her jaw drops with shock.
Jazmyn: … what …
Derek: What is it?
Jazmyn: Am I really reading this right now?
Derek: Jaz…
Derek, concerned for her well being, stands up from the bed to stand by Jazmyn.
Derek: What happened? Did she try to hurt you again?
Jazmyn: No… it’s… I can’t believe what I’m reading…
Jazmyn is still frozen with surprise as she stares at the text message in front of her.
Jazmyn: “Let’s have lunch together on Mother’s Day. Call me when you can. Love, Mom.”
Derek: Now THAT is unusual… from what I remember during high school, she never used the word “love” in your direction unless she talked about how she loved to torment you and she never addressed herself as “mom” either…
Jazmyn: But… why? I don’t understand! She’s never reached out to me before.
Derek: You should call her. I think you’re strong enough to take this sort of step with her.
Jazmyn: I will…
Jazmyn sighs and walks back to the bed, sitting on its side. Derek doesn’t waste time sitting next to her.
Jazmyn: Just...hold me, okay? This isn’t easy for me and I’m going to need your support…
Derek grabs Jazmyn’s hand and places an arm around her to deliver said comfort as Jazmyn makes a very gutsy phone call to the woman that gave birth to her, but who never treated her as a daughter.
Jazmyn: Hello? Yeah… it’s… it’s me…
Jazmyn holds herself together, knowing deep down inside that with everything she’s overcome in her wrestling career, from the cruel twists to the downright miserable bad breaks, that she has everything it takes to be able to face the childhood troubles that she endured.
