The scene opens up as Avery Miles III is sitting on the edge of his porch. He looks conflicted, but happy. It was a whirlwind of time for him since Lest We Forget. He was part of the winning team and earns himself a future shot at the NGW Spotlight Championship, a title held by his friend and Rebel Society member, Daisy Rose. It was indeed a future shot, so things may play out a bit different... who knows? But after the win, he was attacked by Kayla Richards and dropped in the middle of the ring. The attack prompted the save by the man known as Dead Eye, a close friend to Miles. With the good, comes the bad. Heading into Washington, D.C. Avery is taking on the former tag team champion, Ronnie North. A lot has happened in a short amount of time and things are looking much different for the Georgia native.
Avery: Things sure look vastly different for me then they were two weeks ago. I lost to Johnny Maverick at Battle For London, and came up short. Kudos to him. But then at Lest We Forget I was able to be part of the winning team and secured myself a future title shot… before the former NGW Champion decided to stick her nose into my business. I am sorry that your own stablemate, Tillman, pinned your boyfriend to eliminate him. And I do not know why you decided to target me.. But it was awfully convenient that your sister and stablemate were both part of the match and wanted no part of it all. I get it, easy man out. So apparently you and I have an issue, Kayla. Good. I have no issue showing you what a real wrestler does between the ropes instead of cheating or using whatever advantage they can get. Are you talented? Sure. But so are many people. What separates me from you is that I actually earn my wins and my titles. I know that we will soon cross paths Miss Richards… for now… I will be seeing you.
Avery leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he looks out the long gravel driveway. There were not many people that drove the dirt road that led to his house. But he enjoyed watching the dust kick up behind the trucks.
Avery: And as far as my future title shot goes.. In due time. I know that Daisy is doing a great job at working on breaking Mason’s record. Will I face her? Sure? Why not? I do not see a reason why not to. But at the same time, I am not going to purposefully step all over the success parade of a friend. We will see how that all falls out; I will be sure to let Devlin known I intend on cashing in on that title shot sooner than later.
Avery hears Serenity waking up from her nap inside of the house.
Avery: Out here, angel. I will be in there in a few moments.
He yells out to her to let her know where he was. He was spending all of his time not wrestling back at home as she was just about a month and a half away from giving birth to their twins.
Avery: Washington, D.C…. back in the United States I take on a man that is a decorated tag team champion in NGW. And was one in IPW as well. He is more than just that, and I know that singles gold is something he is wanting to obtain. I respect that. I respect the man talent that Ronnie North is. And I am sure that he is more than meets the eye. People thought he and Josh were goofballs of Indy Pro, and yet they were able to walk away with tag titles. And repeated that again in what was called Redemption Wrestling. If anything, Ronnie North deserves more credit then he has gotten. I do not subscribe to that idea that “tag team wrestlers” are somehow less talented. Damon Graves was considered, by some not me, the lesser of the two Graves and he is the current Young Lions Champion. Daisy Rose, the current Spotlight Champion. And even Ronnie’s brother-in-arms Josh held the Five Lakes Championship. Three examples of where a tag team wrestler earned themselves some singles gold. Oh yeah, I did happen to be a tag team champion in my past as well and went onto earn singles titles. Ronnie North, I am not taking you lightly. And I can see past the persona that you want to give out to people. I know deep down there is a dedicated wrestler and a man that wants success outside of whatever adult activities or silly shenanigans he promotes. As far as our match goes? I have got momentum on my side, and I am going to use that momentum to remind everyone that Avery Miles III is no slouch. I am going to use it to head into WrestleForce with momentum and hopefully a title around my waist. NGW has long been my home, and it is about time that one of its own has some shiny jewelry to wear. Things are going to be picking up for my career, and it started at Battle for London. Yes, a loss got the ball rolling but being within a reach of the NGW Championship motivated me that much more. Things are looking up.
Avery stands up and tilts his head up towards the sky. He squints a bit as the sun shines down onto the porch of his Dry Branch, Georgia home.
Avery: It is time for me to get serious and to prove to myself.. To my wife… and to my soon to be born little ones. The Miles name is more than just a family legacy, it is a legacy of success, dedication, and hard work. I don't mind putting in the hard work, it is a joy of my life.
