Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Or, perhaps I should say good morning or afternoon for some of you all. It’s a little past three in there morning here in Japan as I record this little audio log. And yes, once again, I must apologise. I know some of you all are audio centric. To you all, this log will be a blessing. Others still are visually centric. I’m certain those person would much rather prefer to see my facial expression and body language, along with my voice.
However, the life of a wrestler is one of constant travel. And as I said before, I am on a trip here to Japan to work. Therefore, for one more week, this form of communication must suffice.
Now, per usual, I’d like to speak just a bit about last week’s encounter before I move forward. On that edition of Glory, I had the honor of facing Kodo Dragon, Red Dragon, and Fiona Marie Larson in a four-way match up…
And I walked out the victor.
Now, I am not a braggadocious man, nor am I one to rub salt into someone’s wound. However, I’d like to touch upon a couple of points:
Kodo Dragon, while it is true that the two of us both hail from Japan, you and I are not one in the same. That fact is apparent based upon your promotional video that was uploaded on the Redemption website. Kodo, I have need no to resort to outlandish and spurious. Nor do I need people to be intimidated or fearful of me.
As any man, as an athlete, I have moments of weakness. However, in my heart of hearts, I know that I am something to behold out there in the ring. My work speaks for itself—therefore, I am able to skip all the bullshit.
No one was intimidated or impressed by video, Kodo. The next time that we meet in the ring, show me what kind of wrestler you are, not what kind of mediocre actor you are.
Red Dragon—most of what I said about Kodo, applies to you as well. Big and scary giants are a dime a dozen. They act the same, they talk the same. Next time we face, show me that you are an outlier...if you are one at all.
And lastly, there is Ms. Larson—
Ms. Larson, I can honestly say that I was more impressed with you than anyone else in the match, and that was more so due to your attitude. Wrestling is often a sport of portrayal and perception. Often, we feel as if we need come off and be seen as bad-asses. Kodo and Red Dragon fell into that category, as I’m sure you picked up on.
You, however, did not. You were open and lost with everyone. You didn’t claim to be the best of the best—your only assertion was that you’d fight hard. And, that you did. You are not an actor or an illusionist, you are a wrestler. For that, offer up my respect…
Though, I will say this. My name is Yujiro Fujiwara. I have no moniker, I have no nickname. I am no White Dragon. To simply write me off and generalize me based upon my nationality...well, that’s the characteristic of a fool.
And while you may be a bit younger, a bit more naive, you are no fool, Ms. Larson. Please remember that in the future.
I am not a man who normally gets excited for matches. I realize and understand that some are larger than others; some have greater implications, etc. Nevertheless, I can honestly say that I am excited for this upcoming Glory match.
In this bout, I shall take on likes of Xavier Cane and Trixie.
You might be wondering why I’m so excited. Do not worry, I won’t leave you in the dark. The reason why I’m excited is because this match will be able two things: proving who is the better athlete that night, and wrestling.
While we all may be a bit familiar with each other (in some capacity), by in large, we do not know each other. Therefore, there likely will be no hostility, no animosity. This contest will serve to prove who is the better wrestler that evening—period. And, I don’t know about you two, but that is a breath of fresh air to me.
Now, as far as trash talk goes, I’ve have got nothing for you all. The fact of the matter is this, we are all in that match because we are all in similar positions. By hook, crook, or fairness, we’ve all been defeated by Mr. Chase. Furthermore, we’ve all had respectable matches, and yet, we are all somewhat floating in limbo.
The victor of this match just might leap out of that state of limbo.
Mr. Cane, Mrs. Trixie, by know you should know that regardless what obstacles are thrown my way, I remain confident in my abilities as wrestler. I remain confident in the fact that I can close out a match. I’m not merely blowing smoke when I say that you two are both awesome in your own right…
Nevertheless, I believe—excuse me, I know that I can defeat you both. In my estimation, this match is going to come down to who wants it more.
Who is the most tired of being ignored?
Who is the most tired of being overlooked?
Who is the most tired of being underestimated?
Who is the most willing to do whatever it takes to rise up?
That’s a lot of inquires. I’m sure all of us have different responses to each. Though ultimately, talk will indeed be cheap. As they have always said, “actions speak louder than words.” I believe that to be oh so very true in this instance. That is why I shall not run the two of you down—instead, I must let my actions do all the talking this week.
