006 * Defensa de mi título
Scene 001 - Dia De Los Muertos - Mexico City, Mexico - 10/31/2016
OFF CAMERA
*Miles is handed out the belt by Chaos Dragon and immediately clenches it tight before lifting it over his head! Wrestlepest looks on with watery eyes before covering them as fireworks go off this Halloween special! Wrestlepest soon goes in the ring shakes hands with the new champion before raising his arm in victory. Fireworks continue to go off as Dia De Los Muertos closes with Miles on top rope celebrating being the new heavyweight champion of the world!!
The show goes off air as Avery relishes in the moment. His first major championship win, and he did it in grand fashion. Clutching the title, Avery heads out of the ring and slowly up the entrance ramp. He slaps the hands of multiple fans, and even takes a few second to take pictures with a few of the children. Finally heading up the ramp, Avery exits the arena through the curtain and into the backstage area. There, multiple roster members and staff congratulating Avery on his win. The pure emotion on his face is undeniable as he falls to his knees almost as if he is both overcome with everything and exhausted. After a couple of minutes, Avery climbs back up to his knees and pulls it all together. Everything that he has worked for in Guerreros of Lucha has come to a successful point in his career. The Super Falcon Cup was just the beginning; and now he is the Rey de Reyes Champion.
Avery heads into the locker room as he sits on the bench all alone. Mexico City was too far of a travel for Taylor; but he knew that she would be watching. Reaching into his bag, he pulls out his phone to see a Snapchat from her. She is cuddled up on the couch with their daughter, Brooklyn, spread out on the couch next to her. He smiles as a second Snapchat was a video from her.
He plays the video as Taylor blows him a kiss and tells him that she loves him, misses him, and is so very proud of him.
Winning matches and titles was great for Avery in his professional career; but none of it meant anything without a loving family to go home to. Avery sends off a quick text thanking his girl as he begins to change and grab his bags. It was over an eight hour flight home, but boy was it a flight that offered a great feeling to the new champion.*

*Avery Miles III was sitting in his den. Titles, trophies, and pictures hang on the wall detailing the career of Miles; from training in Southern California to his time In Mexico. Signing with NGW and Indy Pro Wrestling. Winning the Super Falcon Cup and other stops along the way. Avery is sitting on his couch as he watches film of the match in which he won the Lucha title in Mexico City. Studying was an integral part of his game; learning to continue to push the grasp of his strength while working to improve on his weaknesses. He hears the door to the den open.*
Brooklyn: Daddy?
*Avery turns, and sees his daughter enter the room. She is barely tall enough to reach the door handle but she manages*
Avery: Yes, peanut?
*Brooklyn runs towards the couch and leaps up into the air. Avery catches with with open arms and lifts her up into the air. The blonde hair little princess giggles as she is practically manhandled by her father. She may not be his biological father, but he is more of a father than anyone could be. The bond between the two of them was an unbroken one and it was quite special.Tossing the little girl up into the air over and over again, she giggles uncontrollably until another person was heard entering the room*
Taylor: Brooklyn… are you bothering your father?
Brooklyn: No!
*Avery laughs at how Brooklyn, without hesitation, denies ever being a bother.*
Avery: She is fine, babe.
*Brooklyn eyes a certain piece of new hardware.*
Brooklyn: Daddy, shiny!
*Without hesitation, the little girl picks up the Rey de Reyes Championship and tries to lift it up.*
Avery: Come here you, let me help.
*She giggles and carries the title with open arms over to Avery. Her father grabs the title and fastens it around her waist. She walks around showing off as if she were the champion*
Avery: Are you the champion, Brooky?
Brooklyn: Uh huh!
*Taylor has a good laugh as she comes up behind him*
Taylor: She is so adorable. That thing weighs more than she does.
Avery: You know, my dad did the same thing with me actually.
*He laughs*
Avery: I can remember walking around doing the same very thing. I mean, the belt didn’t weigh as much but still the same idea.
Taylor: And I bet you were cute as can be!
*Taylor pinches his cheek*
Taylor: Well, I believe it is bath time.
Brooklyn: No!
Taylor: Brooklyn…
Brooklyn: No, mama!
Avery: Listen to your mother.
Brooklyn: Okay.
Taylor: What a little brat you can sometimes be.
*The little girl giggles*
Avery: Her attitude reminds me of someone else I know…
Taylor: You shush up!
*Avery kisses the little girl as she heads over to her mother, hugging her around the hip.*
Taylor: You okay?
Avery: Yup. Just finishing up in here. I’ll be up in ten minutes to help bathe the little monster.
Brooklyn: Rawr!
*Taylor giggles as she follows Brooklyn out of the den, closing the door behind her. Avery pulls out his tablet, props it up on the table in front of him with a kickstand, and hits record*

The Rey de Reyes Champion. It means a lot to me to be able to represent a company. To be the face that is on the poster and one of the reasons ticket sales are doing well. This is my first major title in any company, and I am happy to be representing a style of wrestling that I trained in for a long time. I am not talking down the titles that I’ve won in other companies, but when a company puts their trust in you enough to challenge for the top title, it means something. I wrestled my heart out and did what I could to make sure that I put up the toughest challenge yet; and I walked away with the win and a new piece of hardware.
It is time to cement myself as a top member of this company and to defend the title. Winning a title is only half of the battle; but successfully defending it and having a reign to remember is as important. Being a one and done champion brings self doubts and that is not something that I am about. In same the same token, I won’t allow a title or a match to define who I am. One can say that I have my focus off of my career and the defense, but it could not be the furthest from the truth. I walk out into the arena, big or small, with the same mentality and drive to be the very best. Whether or not I am in pre-show match with only those in attendance watching; or I am in the Main Event defending the company’s top title. I am not a different man, nor who I change what makes me, me.
For Mucha Lucha Senor we move back into The Labyrinth. The place where I worked my way through the Super Falcon Cup and defeated those put in front of me. I have succeeded in my time in Lucha, and maintain a positive presence for the rest of the roster. I put my body on the line each and every match, and I’ve proved my own worth to the roster, to the company, and to the fans. There is a reason why I hold the title, and that is confidence. I know better than to maintain some sort of ego or air of superiority; but to enter the ring with a self-confidence to know that win or lose I will walk away with my head held high.
I take on yet another opponent completely new to me; Amy Jo Smyth. It seems like I am fighting someone with morals, and for me that is a breath of fresh air. I do not need to worry about any sort of verbal low blows or cheap shots at my personal life. Another wrestler that the fans adore, and for good reason. It is going to be one hell of a match, and one in which I hope to walk away with another person that I have earned the respect of. So many people in this industry think that respect means nothing, but it means so much. I can fight my way against the most vile personalities; but the fun comes when two competitors come together in a true battle of who is greater. No worries about cheating or short changing each other; but a true duel of talents. I understand that the dynamic of good versus evil has long been a thing of movies, books, and television. Coming into this match, I see a competitor that I am honored to be inside of the ring with. Win or lose, I plan on giving the fans the best match possible.
*Avery grabs a glass near him and has a sip. The den remains quiet as he gathers his thoughts, takes a few breaths, and rests his voice.*
Defending the Rey de Reyes Championship should be the Main Event of the card, and it is not. I am not bitter, but I know that Amy Jo and I will both will want to make the powers that be regret not putting it on last. We will make sure that we give everything that we have to make this title match the best in the history of the company. I have the champions advantage, and it will take a lot for Amy Jo to come out and beat me. And I will defend this title with everything that I have. But winning the title and being given the chance, that has meant the world already to me. Amy Jo is one person that I would not mind losing the title to… if she wants it enough.
*Avery smiles, offering up a friendly challenge to get the very best out of Smyth. He was a competitor want to win or defend a title against the best of the very best. If he lost it sucked, but knowing that he was out wrestled he knew that things would always work out*
Don’t doubt my confidence though, because it is at an all-time high.
Wrestling has been my passion for a long time. It is literally in my genes. My father. My grandfather. It is what I have always been good at and I know nothing else. I am not choosing wrestling as an afterthought, but as my main drive in life. I’ve put my body on the line; given blood sweat, and tears in this profession. There has never been an idea in my mind to be anything else. Not a teacher. Not a banker. Not even a police officer. Wrestling is my end all, be all. I strive to be the very best and I will never stop trying to achieve that success.
I know that coming into this match that my opponent may not be one hundred percent. A bad ankle can lead to a quick downfall in the match. Step wrong, and you come down. Fall onto the ankle or roll it, and that could be it. I’ve had my fair share of injuries and wrestled through all of them. Those in this profession tend to do what they can to fight through an energy; even through the worst cases. We often battle in matches that we have no place in fighting in because of that risk of further injury; while I respect you for fighting through what could be a career ending injury I am not going to take it lightly on you either. It is important to me to defend this title with every amount of competitiveness that I have inside of me.
*Avery looks around the room, and just takes the moment in before continuing*
You put your career on the line for this title shot. What a hard thing to do, and yet it paid off. But for someone so willing to willingly put it on the line while fighting for a championship shot… you are risking a lot. The end of a career is not something to joke about, and I would never do so. That said, I understand having confidence in yourself to do so but it is almost foolish from where I am seated. To know that I could never wrestle again, that is beyond my comprehension.
*He shakes his head*
You have one bad ankle out of the door, and you were willing to risk your career for a shot at this title. I know that you will be coming at me guns ablazing because this means so much. I won’t target the ankle, because I am a honest man. But if you ankle becomes your own downfall, I cannot feel sorry because I am a competitor. And I have a championship to rightfully defend.
*He looks confidently into the camera*
Amy Jo was one-half of the Soaring Eagle Champions at Eternal Lucha, but when she faced Roxi Johnson she did not come out on top. But to win that title, it shows something. Amy Jo is not one to be taken lightly. She won the Soaring Eagle early on, as I won the Super Falcon. She is going to be an interesting match for me; being a submission specialist. She doesn’t high fly as much as I might, but she will do what she can to ground me and wear me down. A true test of our two styles, and it is going to be a match in which we both will have to scratch and claw to the very end.
*Avery slowly rises to his feet, shaking his body loose of the stiffness from sitting on the couch too long. He takes the tablet in his hand and holds it up. Slowly closing his eyes and re-opening them, he speaks directly to Amy Jo*
Amy Jo; I want to wish you congratulations for winning last month to earn yourself this spot. I was in your place last month; the challenger for this title. I came in ready to make a great showing and I was able to do so. I would not expect anything less of you.
This match may not be the last on the card, but as far as I am concerned this is the Main Event. This is the match for all eyes to be on and we are going to show exactly why we are the best that Guerreros of Luicha have to offer!

Jonathan: What’s up, Ave?
Avery: You won, ALL of those?
Jonathan: I did. Each and every one of them.

Jonathan: Come, look.
*Avery gets up to his feet and heads over to his dad. Jonathan grabs a championship belt off of the shelf and let’s Avery hold it:
Jonathan: Now, be careful Ave.

Jonathan: Turnaround, Ave.
*He follows his father’s orders and Jonathan grabs the belt from Avery, wraps it around his waist, and snaps the belt so that Avery Miles III is wearing the belt.*
