"The wheel of fate is turning"
“A new challenger appeared …”
J.D stood in a unknown hallway with bright sunlight causing difficulties visually. He began to close the distance between himself and the camera. Soon legs disappeared finding a good angle. One hand rubbed at his neck and with a deep breath;
“The time has finally come and I sure as shit aren’t walking in quietly. Everything in my body is tense: ever on high alert for that first bell. All the mentions of this match only encouraged my enthusiasm and gluttonous hunger. Nothing is going to satisfy the need until I finally get into that ring. I set my sights forward readying for the opportune moment to finally strike. Deep in my bones something clicked in place— Once I’ve begun there will be no rest until i’ve achieved my ambitions. This is a new field, sure, but I’m no stranger to the adrenaline that comes with… battle. I feed off of it. It keeps me powering forward. It keeps me starving. Motivating through all the aches, and breaks, and missteps. ”
With a half-hearted waved to the camera from the hand that had been behind his neck. J.D set both hands deep within his pockets. His head tilted back with a mischievous grin.
“Hello, Tasmin.
My name is J.D Ryan.
It’s a pleasure to meet you but let's get a few things straight.
I don’t care who your family is. What my eyes have been on is the record you’ve kept. Sort of sketchy with that ‘wave’ of ups and downs. Hey, no big deal... no one is perfect. Good effort… Still, unless your family has something directly to do with that win/loss record then what do I care who or what they do?
In fact, let’s erase who my mentors from the conversation as well. Whatever they’ve done in the ring holds no value to what I will do. Sure, given me the tools to create or destroy how I so choose, but it will be me inside that ring beating everyone. I understand the struggle… I’m new. A big ol’ question mark so what can a person really say? All anyone has right now is a piece of paper offering very limited information on me. None of that is really going to be helpful. Guess it's a short end of the stick. On the other hand I have to figure out what to say in return. I barely know any people i'll be facing off against. Perhaps you can hunt through other devices to drag up some stuff. Let me tell you now: my social media won’t help anyone when they face off against me. Allow me to introduce myself correctly…”
His hand tapped against his chest with that grin fading. He relaxed his shoulders down with a soft adjustment.
“J.D Ryan; brand new to a wrestling company but not the ring. Not wet behind the ears when it comes to competing. No, i’ve been in that fray my whole life, building up thick skin for this very moment! Numerous Muay Thai first place trophies under my belt, twice that when it comes to multiple categories in both Soccer and Basketball, and reigning victorious in several gaming tournaments. Why explain all of that? Lay out all these accomplishments when, let’s face it, they have nothing to do with wrestling? Well… for the simple fact that, while they don’t tie directly in, I bring it up to make a point...
I compete to win.
“Preparation knows no vacations when it comes to my conquests. I’ve trained for two long years— no, I've been training my body my whole life to tackle tasks like these. I’m not stepping into the ring wishing everyone luck, smiling like a dumb-ass, and trying to make everyone else ‘feel good’. When I step into the ring there are only two people: Myself and the person I’m about to take down. It might be different for some people who enter into wrestling with little clue why they’re here.They give weak excuses or reasoning. It’s something entertaining— it looks like fun. Heh…”
Now J.D returned tilted pose, head arched up, eyes aimed down. His fist gently taps into his other hand. That smirk returned; wicked in nature.
“what’s more fun than winning?”
