“Never Looking Back”
Date: April 15, 2018
The camera shot cuts in on Jazmyn Rain, the new NGW Five Lakes Champion a few hours after she arrived in New Zealand from her recent adventures in GCW. She still looks to be in bright spirits considering the fact that she wrestled about 18 hours before this moment in time and she still has to compete for the Lest We Forget show in New Generation Wrestling. Of course, she has every reason to be in bright spirits considering the championship that she won just two weeks ago is resting on her lap as she overlooks a clear pool of water from a chair. She’s dressed quite elegantly to go along with that championship as she’s adorned with a long, shiny, blue gown accompanied by a pair of sparkling blue diamond earrings as she smiles with confidence when she expresses her thoughts.
Jazmyn Rain: I’m going to talk about it in a little more detail when we get back to the United States and all, but GOSH, I am so STOKED to be the NGW Five Lakes Champion at last. Winning this championship was my mission when I first came here and I knew that from the moment I signed on the dotted line to come here, that I could make this happen. Albeit, I didn’t anticipate that it was going to take me nearly a year for it to happen, but that doesn’t take away from the journey. It’s like I tell my friends, it’s not the destination that makes the story, it’s the journey and gosh, I was on some kind of journey, wasn’t I? Of course, journeys are nothing new to me. In GCW, it took a 20 month journey for me to finally regain their Global championship and it’s taken two years for me to return to their flagship main event for a chance to win one this time around. It took me 25 years before I finally realized what I wanted to do with my life. Of course, with the end of one journey, it begins another. Now it’s not about winning the Five Lakes Championship, it’s about doing what two of my three predecessors before me WOULDN’T do and that’s defend this championship with the honor and integrity it sorely needs to have.
I’m not going to be like Jack Tillman, carrying out hatred and bitterness in his heart the way he did toward me in the days and weeks leading into Battle For London!
I am not going to be like Caroline O’Hara Burchill who only showed up when she felt like it and would constantly cheat her way to victory again and again.
No, this is a different era for the NGW Five Lakes Championship and while I am not going to promise the breaking of records nor am I going to promise being the greatest champion of all time… of course, that’s not why I do what I do… I am going to represent this championship to the best of my ability. Sure, Jack has his ways. I have mine. I don’t need to go around the world, wrestling six days a year to do such a thing. Gosh, maybe I shouldn’t look too far ahead, should I? I mean…
Jazmyn pauses and chuckles before continuing to smile with confidence.
Jazmyn Rain: I really SHOULD save it for a more proper celebration or something. Not to mention that being the Five Lakes Champion comes with its own responsibilities that I know deep in my heart I can handle. Of course, the first of those responsibilities comes tonight at Lest We Forget. I’m not going to beat the concept to death. I know what this is about. Strange Bedfellows, right? Qualifiers? A big gauntlet at the end? Championship opportunities galore? That’s all great, don’t get me wrong. But again, that’s not the entire motif of what I am all about as a professional wrestler. My main purpose is to inspire those that are just like me and of course, that mission is going to hold true tonight no matter what! I even have a little bit of a personal motivation going into this as well. See, this is not my first time in New Zealand. I was here before… in November of 2012… during the dark ages…
Jazmyn expresses a bit of glum and sadness in her face before she takes a deep breath to compose herself.
Jazmyn Rain: I wasn’t right in the head. I was in the middle of my downward spiral. Sure, I was one of PRW’s up and coming wrestlers and all, but the drugs were long taking a toll on me. I never felt so alone before I was here and I hate to say it, but that wasn’t a great experience for me. Still, that was then, this is now. I sincerely apologize to New Zealand for not being right five and a half years ago, but I am DEFINITELY at my best now! I am going to give it my best, just like I always do and at the end of the night, maybe I end up on the winning team at the end of the gauntlet. Maybe I don’t. But regardless, the one thing that I can promise that as the NGW Five Lakes Champion, I am going to be at my absolute best and you can all bet on that. I return to New Zealand stronger than ever, smarter than ever and someone that has grown so much in the last few months here in NGW that I know that I can never look back!
The Jazmyn that would doubt herself on occasion is the Jazmyn you’re going to see far less often going forward!
The Jazmyn Rain that would take offense to even the most piddly of words is a thing of the past. I admit, I took it to heart because I was trying to hard to feel like I belonged here when as it turns out, I always did. But, I’m confident in myself now, for good! As the Five Lakes Champion, it’s time for me to spread my wings and soar, to take my game to another level as every challenge from Tillman to Hixx tries to take me down and take this hard earned championship from me! This is only the beginning to a future that is just as prosperous as ever! And now that I am the Five Lakes Champion at last… starting tonight?
NO LOOKING BACK!
Jazmyn maintains the bright smile on her face, showing how confident she truly has become in herself in light of winning the Five Lakes Champion as the scene cuts out.
