On Camera
The California sun shines down, as Iphigenia Medrapedes, and Jason Bishop can be seen sitting in the backyard of Iphy’s house. Jason is visibly freaking out, while Iphy seems all but oblivious to his obvious breakdown.
Jase: I don't know, maybe I can call West Coast Genesis, and get them to change the match. You can't go out there, have you seen that guy? He's going to kill you, Iphy.
Iphy, who up until now, hadn't been paying Jase much mind, furrows her brow. Iphy simply shakes her head, and turns her attention to her worried manager. Iphy gently places her hand on his, and leans in.
Iphy: He's not gonna kill me Mr. Bishop. Have you not heard, you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover? Carter is big, yes. Is he tough, God's yes. But, he's just a big old teddy bear, once you get to know him, that is.
Jase sighs, he knew she was right, and he knew Carter was a very nice guy. But, he still couldn't help himself from having doubts.
Jase: Yeah, Iphy, I get that but…
Iphy cuts him off, she wasn't about to sit there and let Jason worry for no good reason. Sure, she was nervous herself, but she always was before a match.
Iphy: Mr. Bishop, don't worry. I know you're just looking out for me. But, I would be doing myself, and Mr. Strong, a great injustice by refusing this match. The last thing I want to do, is hurt my friend’s feelings in such a way. That would just be so wrong.
This puts Jase a little more at ease, if only slightly so. Iphy was taking a surprisingly mature approach to the situation.
Jase: You're absolutely right, I see that now Iphy. Just do me a favor, don't take Carter lightly. You saw how he manhandled Chris Marks.
Iphy can't help but smile at this, she had nothing against Chris. But, picturing someone as nasty, and mean hearted as Chris Marks get his comeuppance definitely put her in a good mood.
Iphy: I did, but Chris Marks had that coming. I hate to say that, but he's not exactly the most pleasant person to be around. Besides, he uses a lot of naughty language. But hey, I beat Mr. Marks also, don't forget that. There is a silver lining here though Mr. Bishop.
Jase slowly raises an eyebrow, and leans way back in his seat. He wasn't even close to sure where she was going with this, but Iphigenia had his full undivided attention at this point.
Jase: Ok, this I have got to here. What positive are you talking about here?
Iphy smiles, and taps the side of her head, with her pointer finger. Almost as if she was showing him she was thinking.
Iphy: That's simple, Mr. Bishop. We are to team very soon right?
Jase: Yeah, that is true. What's that have to do with this match exactly. You've lost me.
Iphy: It has everything to do with it!
Iphy becomes visibly excited, she begins to bounce up and down in her chair. Her hands now clapping together quickly, it looked like, maybe she'd lost her train of thought altogether. But, she stops herself, and continues to make her point.
Iphy: Just think about it, Mr. Bishop. What better way, to get to know how a person does things in a ring, then by having a match with them? Mr. Strong says he, Tasmin, and I are the threesome to beat. In fact, he says we're the best threesome ever. So…
Jase hears that, and goes to correct her on what exactly threesome means, but she holds up a finger, so he simply shrugs, and allows her to continue with her point.
Iphy: Where was I? OH RIGHT, best threesome EVER! Look, it's easy to see where I'm going here now. This match, him, and I. Sure, we're fighting one another, but in the long run, we're figuring one another out. We're getting a golden opportunity, to not only share a ring, but we're also getting to send some very nice people home, happy.
Jase smiles, that thought had actually flown right on last him. He wasn't trying to think that far ahead, all he saw was Carter, and his mind went fully into panic mode. Perhaps Iphy was going to be ok, after all. She'd certainly gotten a fairly decent grasp on the business it had seemed.
Jase: I, you know? I actually hadn't pieced that together. But, that having been said, you do make a very good point. Say, what happened to that nervous woman, the one who threw up all over me?
Iphy giggles a little, she had forgotten about that embarrassing little situation, that looking back at now, she found actually pretty funny. Iphy smiles warmly, and gently nudges Jason’s shoulder.
Iphy: Oh, Mr. Bishop. I was nervous, but for a whole different reason. That was my first match, and besides, I've gotten used to that whole thing now.
Jason smiles back at Iphy, he definitely liked seeing this much confidence being shown by his client, even if he still believed Carter was a very tough challenge to face, and not just for Iphy. Anyone put up against Carter Strong, Jase would see having an uphill battle on their hands.
Jase: You know, kid. I'm darn proud of you. Well, I guess that settles that. Match is still on, and you know I'll be right there with you, cheering you in the whole way. Ok hands in.
Jase holds out his hand, and waits for Iphy to place hers atop it, she looks a little bit confused by this gesture, but she complies nine the less.
Jase: Alright, fudge yeah on three. Ready? One, two, three!
With that they both throw their hands up into the air, and practically scream Fudge Yeah! so loud, the neighbors likely heard it, and were likely very confused.
Jase: Ice cream? My treat.
Iphy did not need to be asked this more than once, she is out of her chair the very moment the words were uttered.
Iphy: Um, YES!
