******* ON CAMERA *******
"Twenty three... twenty four... twenty five!"
A pair of giant hands is wrapped around the iron weight bar as it's placed back in to it's resting spot on the bench press. slowly, the massive frame of Carter Strong fills the screen and he looks straight ahead with a wide smile.
"Oh hey, I didn't even see you there."
Carter laughs as he wipes a bit of sweat from his brow and takes a sip of water, winking towards the camera as he was obviously well aware of it.
"Okay, corny joke is out of the way now. I suppose I have to get serious. It's part of the reason that I'm in here training late, as are a few other people."
Carter grabs his phone and turns it to see Adam Sanders and Remi Fontaine in a ring with several a practice dummy as it looks like they're working on some double team moves and strikes. He moves the phone around to see Danielle and Donovan Basch in one of the other rings going over some basic chain wrestling work. In another area, Jason Hunter is on a treadmill that looks to be at a massive incline, and probably near max speed. Carter turns the phone back towards himself, smile still wide on his face as a bit of sweat drips down off his forehead.
"I'm here training, not so much for this upcoming match, but for that trios tournament I'm taking part in. Of course, this upcoming match makes that a little bit awkward. I am set to face one of the people I will be teaming up with very soon. It is safe to say that things are very very different for this match, then they were for my last match. Last match, I had to face a loud mouthed jerk. this match, I have to face someone who's nice and sweet. Last match, I was looking forward to tossing my opponent around and kicking him in the face. This match, it's gonna be very hard for me to do that. Last match, I was facing someone who isn't even an official part of the roster. This match, I am facing one of the other people chosen to represent West Coast Genesis in this tournament. If I haven't made it obvious on twitter, I am very excited and confident about the team we have for this thing. I think we're all gonna get along very well, compliment each other inside the ring, and well I personally think that hashtag Best Threesome Ever is a pretty sweet team name."
Carter makes a motion towards his phone, then raises it up and mimes typing a bit, presumably reminding people to use that hashtag.
"Now, I'm sure a lot of people are expecting me to talk about my size advantage. It is kind of a big deal, but the kicker is, I carry a size advantage in to every single match. I am the tallest and heaviest person on the West Coast Genesis roster, and I'm bigger than anyone on the New Generation Wrestling roster. In that tournament, I might be the biggest one there as well. I haven't looked at all the competitors to know for sure. I could talk about the fact that Iphy likes to use a lot of suplexes and take downs and throws, and say that it's going to be hard for her to use those moves against me. I'm sure she has thought of that though and is planning accordingly. She knows that i am fourteen inches taller than her and weigh over two hundred and forty pounds more than her. That is one thing that I am completely sure of as I go in to this match. It's no secret that I will look to use that size advantage. I would be a big dummy if I didn't, and as much as some people would that to be true, i promise you that I ain't dumb at all."
Carter just shakes his head, points to his head and then uses both hands to mime having a giant head to show that he actually is smart.
"If you're expecting me to do a bunch of bragging or talk trash about Iphy, well I'm sorry to say that you're going to be disappointed. I know what she brings to the table, she knows what I bring to the table. There's not much of a point in talking about myself or her. Instead, I'm going to talk about what it would mean for me to get a shot at the South Bay Title. I'm well aware that a win against Iphy only earns me a second match later in the night and I would have to win that to get the title shot. That's why before I started on the weights, I did twenty minutes on the treadmill doing that hill program with a crazy high setting, then did twenty minutes on the exercise bike doing the same thing, fifteen minutes on the stair climber, and five minutes straight with them crazy battle ropes. I did that because in the span of three matches, I could become the number one contender for a championship. I could do that without being a rampaging monster or a mindless brute. I could do that without being a mean arrogant jerk. I could show everyone that nice guys can finish first and no matter what life has thrown at you, if you work hard and don't let people change you for the worst, you can accomplish great things."
Carter takes a deep breath, wipes a small bit of sweat from his forehead and moves forward on the bench, looking straight ahead.
"I come from a family of drug addicts and dealers. I spent two years of my life living on the streets. Some nights I would find a box big enough to squeeze into and use as a roof. Some nights I could find a barrel fire to get near and some people willing to share food. Some nights I sat in an alley with rain pouring down on me, curled into a ball. I had some rough times and I ended up fighting to make my way. In those fights, I could have let myself turn in to a raging monster, but I didn't. I did what I had to, but I always kept my heart. I never set out just to hurt people, and I never will. All that happened in my life, a lot of people wouldn't blame me if I became an untrusting, uncaring brute, but that ain't me. Even through all the bad, I choose to find the good. So for me, winning this match against Iphy, winning against either James Pridmore or Ares McCullough, it's a way to show those people who might be in tough situations, that you can overcome what life throws at you. Don't give up, don't lose your heart, and don't ever forget that monsters are only scary if you let them be."
Carters smile returns as he raises up his giant thumb and the video slowly fades out.
