Check Up

In Macon, Georgia Avery and Serenity were having her weekly check up on the babies.

Doctor: All looks good. I will see you both next week.

Avery helps her to clean up as she can tell something is on his mind.

Serenity: Babe you alright? Something seems to be on your mind.

She keeps looking at him, as she bites her bottom lip. She was curious.

Avery: Just got a lot going on up here. The Twins. Battle for London. Our guests in town. The school. Just trying to balance it all.

Avery helps to wipe her belly with a towel from the ultrasound.

Serenity: You need to remember it’s not all just you, it is both of us. We will make it through all of it. It will all be fine, as we have each other.

She smiles at him, trying to reassure him.

Avery: I need to turn this around. Becoming a Hall of Famer in Guerrors of Lucha is a great thing, but this match with Johnny Maverick? He is a wild card. And I just need to be better. Better than I’ve been in a long time.

He lowers his head.

Serenity: Avery, you just need to be yourself. I know what this means to you, but putting on the best match you can do means more than anything. Giving the fans what they paid for means more. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

Avery: But-

He looks at her.

Avery: I’ve become the joke of NGW. My record says it all. Hell, Alex is in the finals of the Global Cup. I could have been there. I need to start putting myself first some, don’t I?

Serenity: Babe you know the joke is Blade, not you. Stop with that talk. You are an amazing wrestler, and will be champion, no matter what. Stop putting pressure on you, it will make you fail. Besides, why did you get into wrestling? The titles? The Love of it?

She looks him in his eyes. He nods.

Avery: I had the most fun wrestling people like Dead Eye, and losing. I loved the challenge.

He knew she was right.

Avery: I just wanted to do great and have fun with it. I guess I should keep that mentality?

She nods her head yes.

Serenity: You should babe. That is what you got into wrestling for, not the gold. Remember that. Don’t worry about winning, but that it will be a challenge.

Avery: What did I do to deserve you, Serenity?

He touches her belly with his hand and feels the twins kick.

Serenity: You were just yourself babe. Nothing else, nothing more, and nothing less. Just continue to be that guy.

Avery: I love you.

He smiles as he feels them kick again.

Avery: You going to be okay with me in London for the weekend?

Serenity: I love you too.

She smiles feeling them, as she looks at him. She shrugs her shoulders lightly, as she wasn't sure really.

Serenity: I.. I don’t know. It is Easter… but I know you need to.

Avery: First flight I can get back, I will be here. I promise.

He takes her hand.

Avery: I love you angel. Let’s get you on your feet and get some lunch to take our minds off of this weekend.

Serenity: I know you will, just you know, least I will have your family here.

She smiles, as she nods her head.

Serenity: I love you too Devil. Let’s go, I am hungry, maybe some pickles….

Avery smiles as the two of them gather their things and head for the door.
