Kayla’s hands shake, not with fear or any type of neurological disease or ailment. An anger. A pure fiery anger building up from deep in her stomach. Kayla looks up through her long black hair, her emerald eyes seeming to shine from the light above.
“For years, years I struggled. I took the abuse. I heard the bullshit. I came into this business, I was Amber Richards baby sister. That’s all I was. My older sister won titles and had the world eating out of her hand. I was her tag along. The kid who annoyed everyone. Silly little Kayla. For two years I pushed and clawed and fought my way to the top. I was the first to hold a title that would be known as the Shieldmaiden. Almost a prophetic move. I held that title with pride and set records with it. But then contracts came up. My sister, myself, Alex Jones...Ana...Amber's husband.,..we all walked out…”
“I retired, well, semi retired. See I was “in love” or rather I thought I was. I thought I knew what love was and I thought I felt it for Eliza Valentine, but I was stupid. Deceived by a member of a family who is damn good at lying. I sat at home, tears in my eyes. I had nothing. I had a ratty little apartment and my heart smashed on the fucking kitchen floor. Kayla slowly looks over at Matt, his arms crossed over his chest as Jason and Jaxon work out in the ring,Matt giving Jason tips on how to deal with a bigger, stronger opponent. Jaxon throwing Jason halfway across the ring with ease as Tasmin giggled eating cheetos. Kayla smirked and shook her head focusing on her fiance.
“Matt called me and said he knew my sister, asked if I would be interested in being his manager as he needed someone who knew the business. Someone who had been to the top and someone who could help him as he managed everything to do with the title. I worked close with him and very slowly feelings...grew. We didn’t mean for it to happen and this is one of the first times I’ve spoken publicly. Yes there was an animal magnetism. I was physically attracted to him and I knew he was me.”
“But it was deeper. Not that any of you peons would know or accept it. We live in a world where that idiot Jew Blazer moron married a bitch who he barely knew. Kayla chuckles and steps forward.
“I know Johnny the immortal fuckhead Maverick has voiced his inane and insignificant opinion about this on social media but since he decided to mention me and my fiance again let me indulge his sick obsession. See Johnny is the type of guy who will stand there and sing the praises of management when he is being given title match after title match, when he is allowed to make lewd and horrid comments about me, when he is allowed to do things that would normally get someone fired and thrown out and blackballed. But then again we are talking about a man who says he had surgery that would stop him from getting cleared by any doctor worth his salt….”
“I smell a few lawsuits….”
“Not to mention his wannabe moral stance when he himself lives in a horrible relationship with two women which is every sad little mans “dream”. Yet when Matt is in need of a tag team partner to defend the title he won with Jack and I was asked to step in by the same person who handed him an undeserved early title shot suddenly he has a little problem and wants to run his mouth.”
“Johnny gets preferential treatment and we’re all good. I step up to help my fiance in a match for titles that I can actually defend cause it’s in the rules and suddenly there’s a problem…”

“But here we are. Johnny gets to go face Avery Miles which I’m sure will be a...riveting...match. And I defend the NGW tag team titles with Matthew against John Blade and Alicia Hixx….You think this is a game?. You think this is some sort of joke?. My career?. This is a carrot being dangled in front of me like I’m a fucking laughing stock. Oh Kayla don’t worry you get to defend titles on a huge show you WERE supposed to main event.”
Kayla scoffs and rolls her eyes.
“The only reason I’m not main eventing Legacy: Battle for london, is because I refuse to work with someone like Johnny Maverick. I refuse to let him violate or humiliate me. I could have hired lawyers and fought for that title rematch, I could have thrown my contract at Devlin and Amber and told them I would have NGW shut down. But in the end it wasn’t worth it because I don’t want to have that disgusting, unfunny, fuckwad lay his hands on me. But he gets rewarded, he gets the main event while I face tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber and he criticizes the very people who have handed him shit….”
“This is your champion, this is the hole you have dug yourselves.
