-One of my favorite openings in a song is that of Album Of The Year by the Good Life. An Omaha, Nebraska based band that’s more in the alternative rock scene in the music world. The lead singer, Tim Kasher, also leads the band Cursive and has put out a couple of solo albums. I know of these bands and Tim’s work because I to am from Nebraska. Born and raised in the Old Market Square in Omaha. So the opening lyrics is....”First time I had met her I was throwing up in a ladies room stall. She asked me if I needed anything and I said I think I spilled my drink. And that’s how I started or so I like to believe.”..... I’ve always been a fan of Tim Kashers work because he took a nasty divorce, took all the emotions from it, and put out great albums from his Cursive, The Good Life, and solo works.
-Living off a mans misery......sounds like wrestling doesn’t it?
-I’m telling you all of this because I have the song playing on my iPhone while I’m studying my opponents in a barely lit room in my apartment in Omaha, Nebraska. Tonights viewings is that of Adrien and Jessica of the Guardians. Not a whole lot of film of them teaming up.....but hell......you could say the same with Shields and I. It’s not our fault that management doesn’t know how to use us. Anywhere else we’d either be teaming or defending the titles.....but management has sat in their hands and have done nothing. I grow bored of NGW because of this. Only reason why I’m still around is because I still have the Five Lakes And Tag Title. I don’t care about the pay or where I’m positioned on the card like Constantine might. I just hope that one of these days management picks up the phone and puts forth an opponent or opponents that’s to my liking. But they disappoint every card and never pick up that phone.
-I look over the matches with a fine tooth comb to see if there’s any sign of weakness or chinks in the armor. Rewinding matches to see if Jessica likes to land on her left foot or right. I slow the film down to see if Adrien react differently being kicked in the right leg or left? Everything I find I take note of and give it to Shields. I break the match down with notes everywhere. I know with this match it is to attack the injuries. I know of Jessica’s one injury...... so that will be a focal point in the coming match. But does she have anything else? I already looked at past surgeries and injuries that involved therapy but nothings showing where she’s having problems with those areas. Same goes with Adrien.
-All and all they’re both solid competitors who know what they’re doing in that ring and only a fool would take them lightly. But it’s not like they’re going to walk all over us either. We just have to play it smart and go after Jessica’s injury until it falls off or she taps out. But they probably already know our strategy so they’ll work around her injuries. Most likely have Adrien handle as much as the match as possible. He’ll eventually have to tag Jessica in and when he does.......Jessica’s injury will either go pop or rip.
Olivia Newman: “Watching film again?”
-I look over my shoulder for a second and see Olivia is standing behind me. I just ignore her though as I continue to watch film.
Olivia Newman: “Looks boring.”
Jack Tillman: “It is.”
Olivia Newman: “Then why watch it?”
Jack Tillman: “Because if I don’t know what my opponents will be bringing to their match or their capabilities then I’m walking into a match blind and I don’t like walking into matches blind. When you walk into a match not knowing what your opponent can do then you’ll most likely get your teeth knocked in. Everything I need to know about my opponent is in these videos. I don’t need to listen to their promos for them to tell me if they’re going to kick my ass or not because the film will tell me if they’re on my level or not. People can lie. Film doesn’t. That’s why I rely so heavily on film. So yes, it can be boring as help but its gotten me this far in my career. So I think I’ll continue this path of boredom.”
-Silence fills the room as I rewind a part in an Adrien match. While watching the scene over again Olivia interrupts my focus and breaks my concentration.
Olivia Newman: “So what are you looking at?”
Jack Tillman: “You finished your thousand squats yet for the day?”
Silence fills the room again before I hear Olivia speaking under her breath and dragging her feet across the floor. Good. Now.....back to work.
