'I'm not ready.'
The words, spoken matter-of-factly though in a somewhat shaky, wavering tone, open the latest video uploaded to the West Coast Genesis website. The speaker is none other than newly-minted Long Beach Champion, Izzy Roxx, who appears on camera a mere second later, wearing an expression somewhere between nervous and angry. As she turns to face the camera, the teenager holds out ta hands at face height, to reinforce her point.
'This is a person who's not ready...'
Izzy holds out her other hand, keeping it level with the first one for a moment before dropping it to waist level.
'...and this down here is me.'
The teenager nods, her hands shooting back up again as she gestures emphatically.
'So yeah...we're doing this again. If you wanna say I'm emo, or I whine too much, or whatever, knock yourself out. I got a couple of things I wanna get off my chest, and I'm 'bout to do that right now. If you don't wanna hear it, there's a red 'X' button right up there. Just Saiyan.'
The brunette's tone is unusually harsh as she points up and to the left of her, indicating the spot where browsers normally have their iconic red 'Close' button. She pauses for a moment, presumably to let viewers make up their minds, before speaking up again:
'We all good? Cool.'
She nods again, half to herself this time, as she continues:
'You know...some days, it almost feels good. Some days, I wake up, and the sun is shining, and there's no school, and I look up and see this thing on my shelf...and it feels good.'
Izzy slaps the plate on the belt around her shoulder, before picking it up and holding it out to the camera.
'But then...'
The teenager's expression darkens.
'...then I get up, and go on Twitter, and see all the hot chicks with boobs or whatever, and I remember I'm not cool or hot or popular. And then, I look at the belt again and I remember who I took it from. Who deserved to have had it right now and doesn't, 'cause of dumb old me. And then...'
Izzy reaches off camera to pick up her phone, which she promptly turns towards the camera, to reveal a West Coast Genesis Hype call sheet.
'..then I see this and I remember I'm stuck with this thing, and I gotta defend it in a couple of day...
...and I'm so not ready.'
Her speech having come full circle, the teenager's tone becomes somewhat less forceful, as she moves on to address individual people, starting with her boyfriend:
'Adam...you're a doofus for giving away your rematch clause. Dude. Seriously. I was gonna give it back to you for free. It's yours, man. I don't want it and I'm not ready for it. You would'a been a two-time Champion, and I would'a gone back to taking pins in triple threats at the thop of the show where I belong. We would'a both been happy. The fudge you had to go and do that for?'
The half-angry, half-pained look in Izzy's eyes becomes all anger as she moves on to the next person on her list:
'And Mercedes...thanks for nothing. You knew I wanted to give this back to Adam, and you wouldn't let me. And 'cause of that, he went and did something dumb. And now he can't get it back unless he actually fights me. Good job, dude.'
Izzy gives Mercedes a sarcastic golf clap before moving on to address her first challenger as Long Beach Champion:
'And Zak...Zak Phoenix...I've never really talked to you yet or anything, but you have a cool name, and I'm sure you're a way better wrestler than me. Which is probably why they put you in front of me right away in the first place. I mean, nobody's gonna take this thing seriously as long as it's with the Two Move Wonder, am I right? So put some mad talented dude in front of her, a dude who's not hung up on taking a title off his partner or whatever, and boom! There's your credible champion. Easy-peasy, right?
Well...'
Izzy leans into the camera as she continues:
'...well, it would be easy-peasy if it wasn't for one thing. This belt right here?'
Izzy pats her Long Beach title again.
'This belt right here belongs to Adam. And until it's back with Adam, nobody's gonna have it except for me. As far as I'm concerned, since last month, I'm the official Long Beach Championship belt sitter. And a good babysitter wouldn't let a kid go off with a stranger, right? So there's no way I'm gonna let this belt go off with one, either.'
Izzy's face takes on a look of determination as she continues.
'So Zak...any other night, you would win it. Any other night, you would beat me. If this was for no stakes, I'd probably spend five minutes with my shoulders pinned to the mat and you using me as a practice dummy. But tonight?'
The teenager touches the title around her shoulder a third time.
'Tonight I have this. And because I have this, everything I just talked about goes out the window. 'Cause like I said – this is Adam's baby, and I'm sitting it. And if I wanna earn my money at the end of the night and get called again next time...I have to make sure nothing happens to it.'
Roxx leans in even closer, her face now in close-up.
'So Zak...here's the deal. Your title reign...it's gonna have to wait. 'Cause tonight...and every other night until this belt is back with the person it really belongs to...the only place it's going...is back home with me.'
The teenager straightens her posture, attempting to make herself taller as she looks down at the camera.
'See Zak...this Hype...and every other Hype until Adam wants it back...I am the Keeper of the Belt.
And this Saturday...that's just what I'm doing.
Keeping it.'
With that, the teenager leans forward to switch off her webcam and end the feed.
