“I'm not saying you need to be angry at our opponents, dude.” Ronnie says.
“Good, because I'm not an angry person.” Josh says, taking a kick at the heavy bag that Ronnie was holding. It barely budges.
“Yeah, but maybe you should FIND some anger and use it. I love you to death brother but soemtimes the unyielding positivity feels like it's holding us back.” Ronnie says.
“Being nice and positive isn't a weakness.” Josh says.
“I'm just saying it'd be nice to see a little fire in you.” Ronnie says.
“We just beat the tag team champions.” Josh says.
“Granted, but that doesn't mean you should lose your focus. It took us doing pretty poorly to get to the point where you could get your nut up to throw hands like the gnarly dude I know you are.” Ronnie says.
“Not buying it.” Josh says, throwing another kick.
“Yeah...anyway would you be up for going into the city? I feel like we need to eat at the Carnegie Deli as much as possible since they're closing it down.” Ronnie says, looking at his watch while unbracing himself from the heavy bag.
“THEY'RE CLOSING THE CARNEGIE DELI!?!?” Josh says, outraged as his next kick knocks the heavy bag into Ronnie and sends him flying back.
“Are you okay? Where am I going to get a decent Reuben around here now? Did you get hurt? Where are we going to buy cheesecake? Do you need me to get someone to help you? Kaylee loves that cheesecake, Ronnie! I mean she likes the cheesecake I make even more but I can't just be constantly making cheesecake. DO YOU REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION!? I'M NOT MADE OF CHEESECAKE RONNIE! WHAT IS REALITY? WHAT IS CHEESECAKE? WHO AM I?” Josh says.
“...I'm fine.” Ronnie says, amazed at the freakout his tag partner had. Josh takes a moment to breathe and regain his bearings.
“Sorry I just....I like that deli.” Josh says.
“See? That's the kind of anger you need to be channeling in the ring.” Ronnie says. Josh finally calms himself down.
“Okay... maybe....MAYBE you have a point” Josh says, extending his hand to help his partner up. Ronnie takes his hand and Josh helps him up and while their hands are locked they exchange a complicated 'best friends' handshake.
“If you had nailed someone in our first Redemption match with that 'Carnegie Deli Kick' you just used we'd both be going to get our title belts from our locker right now. I'm just saying that if you, Kaylee, and I are going to team up we are going to have to have each others backs to get ahead... and we aren't going to get ahead if you're pulling kicks because you're afraid of hurting people. There are a lot of Jews who can channel some serious anger and they can't fight nearly as good as you can. Could you imagine if Marc Maron could pull off Thrilling Heroics?” Ronnie says.
“I've never imagined it before but I am now and it's...it's pretty funny.” Josh says.
“We're facing against two very hungry teams and I need you to promise me that if it calls for it? You'll be able to get mean because they aren't going to have any trouble getting mean on you, Josh. I want you to imagine a world where you don't have a lady at home to play video games with you and kiss your boo-boos better. I want you to NEED this win. You understand me?” Ronnie says. There is a pause and Josh exhales.
“I understand.” Josh says.
“Promise me.” Ronnie says, putting a hand on his friends shoulder.
'I promise...that I'll get mean if I have to.” Josh says.
“That's my brother.” Ronnie says, putting an arm around Josh.
“Now come on, let's get you that Reuben.” Ronnie says.
“And Cheesecake?” Josh asks.
“Yeah man, and cheesecake.” Ronnie adds.
