Remember the days
we would drink on the train
on our way to the show, Chicago
Naked Raygun live at the Cabaret Metro
Ten bucks to get into a fight you can't win
Boots and braces, yellow laces
Oxblood traces of the night before
We are forgotten young suburbia
Loose on the streets of California
Underneath fluorescent lights
We'll waste the best nights of our lives
Fuck this place, let's put up a parking lot
Na, na na, na na, na na
Na, na na, na na, na na
Fuck this place, let's put up a parking lot
I can't wait 'til I'm off of work
I'll meet my friends at the Target curb
I rolled my ankle, Matt just broke his wrist
I climbed through your window at 3 am
We listened to The Smiths and The Violent Femmes
Yeah, we both sang, "Why can't I get one kiss?"

“Can anyone explain to me why I have to shoot one of these damn videos within hours of me landing in California? Christ, I was really hoping to be able to rec…”
Eddie Walker opens up the video, oblivious that the camera was already rolling, as he rambles for a moment. The camera is set up right outside the San Diego apartment of Adam Sanders. The former WCG Long Beach Champion is standing right next to him and about a step behind him in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Sanders is wearing a gray hoodie with the hood covering most of his brown hair. Walker is simply wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt. It appears to be late afternoon as the sun looks like it will be set shortly after the completion of this video. The voice of Eddie’s first client is audible from behind the camera.
Adrien: “You know the camera is rolling, right?”
Walker looks back behind the camera with a perplexed expression.
Eddie: “What did he just say?”
Sanders rolls his eyes as he clearly heard Adrien Cochrane’s voice despite Walker being closer to the Dropkick King. Adam shakes his head before telling the shared manager what it was Cochrane had said.
Adam: “He said that the video started. You’re being recorded already. So… match… opponents… stuff…?”
Walker immediately looks back into the camera. He quickly mumbles to himself before beginning his speech.
Eddie: “You’d think they’d let me when they start shooting by saying action or something…”
Adrien and Adam: “EDDIE!!”
Eddie: “HELLO West Coast Genesis!!”
The first planned word from Eddie Walker was almost yelled to overpower the other two yelling his name to get started on the whole purpose of the camera crew that is currently there for Adam’s video.
Eddie: “I am here with one of the only three people to ever hold the WCG Long Beach Championship, the Awkward One himself, Adam Sanders!!”
Adam gives a quick wave.
Eddie: “Now, the last time we’ve seen Adam in action, he was pitted against the young lady he loves and adores with his championship. This was an unfortunate situation for two young wrestlers who were not emotionally prepared for such a bout, but even though my client did not win the match, I believe he learned a lot from the experience, including a grace in defeat rarely seen in this sport. His girlfriend, the extremely underrated Izzy Roxx, didn’t want to win the title and wanted to give the title back to Adam. He declined. He had the integrity to say no because he was no longer the rightful owner of the title. He had the compassion and heart to choose the love of his life over the championship.”
Adam glances at the ground, thinking about the uncomfortable situation that involved him no longer becoming the Long Beach Championship and all the effort he is giving to get Izzy to accept the fact that she is now champion.
Eddie: “Now, Adam has the opportunity to make a huge statement that he is still a champion-caliber competitor. He has a chance to bounce back in a triple threat match with a rising star in Miss Tasmin Richards and the enigmatic Nite Stalker. Now both of these opponents have spoken already about the match at hand. Quite predictably, in fact.
“Tasmin Richards was the Tasmin Richards I was expecting to see. The Tasmin I was hoping to see. This young lady is almost like a night and day when you compare her to the company she keeps. She has a certain kindness that is not only non-existent in the whole Richards-Shields-Hunter group she is in, but it’s rare in this industry in general. I’m always watching people on Twitter. A month ago, she was beginning to think she wasn’t cut out for it. Similar to some ponderings I’ve heard from many people. And the appreciation she showed to all the people talking her out of it, including the man behind me and the man running the camera, showed me the person Tasmin Richards is.”
Walker looks up for a moment, digging through his thoughts.
Eddie: “Did I reach out to her? I don’t think I did. I really should have. My apologies, Miss Richards. But regardless, I noticed something more. See, I’m actually the fourth wrestling manager Adrien has ever had. There was a man who came before me and the other two ladies. He passed away last month from a stroke. And despite the fact that his wrestling career was prior to Tasmin Richards being born, his career as a manager with Adrien being before her tenth birthday, she sent out condolences and mourned his loss with Adrien.
“That’s the compassion I spoke of. And when you can use that passion, tap into the power it can give you. And that’s when you can pull off some of the things you see Adrien Cochrane doing in NGW matches. I think you can do that, Tasmin. Just a matter of time.
“And Adam has told me that, of course, his best case scenario is winning this match. But he will not be upset if you emerge victorious, Tasmin.”
Walker’s smile fades as changes opponents.
Eddie: “And then there’s this nutjob…”
Sanders takes a step away from Walker with his eyebrows raised. One can only assume Adrien is giving him the same look from behind the camera based on Eddie’s reaction to both me.
Eddie: “What, I can’t call him a nut job?! I mean, let’s be real for a moment. That little rant he went on basically said that people like Adam are what create entities...and I want to stress that was his word of choice...like him. Entities. He referred to himself as that but not a person or a man. He believes himself to be some sort of being that is capable of some sort of monstrous things. Tell me, Nite Stalker, do you admit yourself to be a man? Capable of being harmed? Capable of being beaten? No. Of course not, right? Then you, sir, are a fucking moron.”
Adam takes another step back, shocked at the last sentence with his widened eyes he is known for. He even speaks.
Adam: “Eddie, are you sure you should be saying…”
Eddie: “Hush you! Nite Stalker, you lost to Julianna DiMaria. You can be beaten in the ring. Now, you want to deflect all the blame for you becoming this psychotic idiot on Adam, then you are clearly just grasping at straws to excuse the person you’ve become. Adam literally shows up for his matches, wrestles, and goes home. He spends his days training and playing video games until he picks up his girlfriend from class. But HE created you by minding his own fucking business? Excuses. 'All powerful entities' don’t need excuses. And you’re going to pay for those excuses.”
Adam is still stunned by Eddie Walker’s comments towards Nite Stalker. He’s taken another step back.
Eddie: “What were some of those buzzwords you threw out to try to get inside his head? Hypocrisy? Like I said, the introvert over here stays to himself. He barely speaks to other wrestlers on the roster not named Izzy Roxx and Remi Fontaine. Inadequacy? He has won a championship in this company...what have you done? Martyrdom? What in the blue hell does Adam martyr himself for exactly...or are you just trying to make up scary sounding words to try to invoke some kind emotion to make yourself seem more interesting than you are? Self-importance? He just declared to the world that Izzy Roxx is more important to him than being champion so yeah...totally worried about his self-importance. False superiority? THE KID NEVER SPEAKS!! Do you know anything about Adam Sanders? Jesus Christ, I feel like you glanced at his bio and decided you were going to shoot this video without knowing a thing about the poor kid.
“I want you to look at the participants of this match and tell me which one of these is not like the other. I’m not talking about the kindhearted personalities and ability to pass a psyche examination either. I mean the fact that two of these competitors were trained by some of the top wrestlers in NGW. I want you to look at the pedigree of Tasmin and Adam. I want you to think long and hard about the fact that Kayla Richards and Adrien Cochrane are the ones who spent time molding these two superstars. What about you, Nite Stalker? You are simply the latest in a line of mysterious, brooding monster, right? You are a man. And a man can be beaten. And my client will do just that.”
Eddie smirks as he walks off camera. Adam stands there, looking at the camera for a moment. He takes off his hood before opening his mouth.
Adam: “The opinions and views of Eddie Walker don’t necessarily reflect mine. Of course, he speaks on my behalf because I haven’t quite mastered the art of cutting a promo quite yet. He means well. But I will say this…
“Nite Stalker, you are trying to put fear into my heart. But you said so many things that make me think you know as little about me as I do you. I don’t know anything about Nordic monsters, supernatural personas, or the world you say is decaying because of me. I’m not going to pretend like it makes any sense to me. Obviously, your views on what’s going on make sense to you, so it is what it is. But I’m trying to win matches to realize my dream in this industry. I just lost a title to my girlfriend. I need to bounce back and win this match. I can’t make any excuses for what you say you are. This is something I have to do.
“Tasmin, Eddie’s words reflect my opinion of you more accurately than what he said about Nite Stalker. I think you’re better than you think you are. You’ve beaten me one-on-one once before. I really believe that a day will come where you are one of the best in West Coast Genesis. I have a lot of respect for you because of what Eddie said: you are a kind person with a good heart. I hope for good things for you. If I am not victorious in this match and you are...I can live with that. As long as I know I gave you the best fight I have in me, I have nothing to be ashamed of.”
Adam starts nodding his head as his mentor’s voice comes from behind the camera.
Adrien: “That everything, man? You done?”
Adam: “Yeah. That’s all.”
The video feed cuts off as Adam nods his head once more.

We are the broken
No end in sight
We're the forgotten soldiers you left behind
There's no use trying
We lost the war
Now the dead and dying
Are back to even the score
We are forgotten young suburbia
Loose on the streets of California
Underneath fluorescent lights
We'll waste the best nights of our lives
