The scene opens at Jeremy’s high rise in the large bedroom. Jeremy is shirtless but has boxer briefs on and Cadence is in the bed covered by the sheets. Jeremy on his phone.
”These inane interruptions of yours need to stop.”
”We are done playing your games Starling! You have not delivered on your promises! Now it will cost you!”
”If you’re going to threaten me you should do it from a position of ability. You do not have that so please don’t embarrass yourself further. I’ve taken what I need from our arrangement.”
”Our needs were the reason you signed on.”
”Then you should have thought about that before I received my payment in full. Consider our deal reneged.”
He hangs up the phone with a confident smile and moves back into the bed. Once in position Cadence drapes an arm around him and he wraps an arm around her.
”You sure know how to handle someone who’s pissed at you.”
”You know this firsthand.”
She smirks behind twitched lips. ”Gotta say though sugar, these people worry me a little. You sure you can handle them?”
”What they don’t know is that I will know of anything they try before they get a chance. They don’t bother me, but if they do come after me…” He strokes her cheek gently. ”... or if anyone were to come after you, there will be no shadow and no hell they could hide from me in.”
Cadence smiles. ”Just when I think I have you all figured out.”
”I’m always full of surprises, my country angel.”

”Ignorant, vainglorious, imbecilic posers. No one person has what it takes to match “Living Greatness” and in every match I have had so far in Redemption. But let’s digress and focus on that name, Redemption, and how apropos it is to this particular situation. Let’s review because none of you are intelligent enough to know why that is. Probably don’t even understand what apropos even means but what it means is story time.
“You see in my very first match, I was tossed over the top rope and, by the rules of that match having both feet hit the floor, eliminated from the match to earn the Genesis title, a title a rightfully deserved on account of being born better than everyone who participated in that match. The thing of it is though I was not eliminated by the efforts of one person, but the combined efforts of two people. I was robbed of my deserved victory because of the exceptions to every standard rule that goes into a battle royal.
“But for my next match, I have my chance at… Redemption. Does this sink in to your vacuous heads or like my opponents do these words enter one ear and leave the other because there is simple empty space in there? Devlin thinks to make a mockery of me by putting me in a situation where a loser does not even have to be involved in the decision. That would simply be the penultimate humiliation, a smack across the face of everything resembling decency. Because I am the champion this company, the world itself, needs.
“Triple Threat rules? I have already been in a triple threat match with a champion and I pinned that champion. And my last match was against the third person and I defeated him just as well, proving it would never have mattered. Lightning can’t strike twice though, right? Wrong, you addle brained morons! Not only will lightning strike twice, but it can be proven as well. It’s just a matter of applying a brain that is capable of handling such information.
“Let’s start with the… individual Devlin decided to use as the wrench to my ascension. Xavier Cain. Never before have I seen such a blatant disregard to facts and tradition than this… person. Xavier Cain was promised a reward for winning and revels in the fact that he was able to get a shot at the Genesis championship. A man such as Xavier Cain should know, winning is its own reward. Were he any kind of decent as he seems to claim, he would have bowed out from the offer. But he didn’t and now he will have to live with the knowledge of having come so close, but yet not being able to secure that big win.
“And the reason for that will not be the current champ, Anton Chase. You must be pretty proud of yourself right about now Anton. Show after show you’ve managed to keep that title with you. But like your elimination of me and the victory you got to earn that title, you were simply lucky. Riding that wave into each show, but now your luck comes to a crashing halt. You see Anton I bet you were expecting Mikhail to come out on top in my last match, but you should have known better than that. And now I will be facing you as it should have been from the moment you were handed that belt. Hold it close Anton and shine it up while you’re at it because the Genesis championship will be mine at the end of the day. Because I am Jeremy Starling, “Living Greatness”, and I am born better than you and I am born better than Xavier Cain.”
