$$$$$ ON CAMERA $$$$$
March 1, 2018 9:47 P.M.
Hotel Banke, Suite 103, Paris, France
A large Midnight Horsemen t-shirt fills up the screen for a few seconds, and then suddenly a massive pair of hands rip it in half. Behind the shirt is the face of Mason Moore. He holds the two halves of the shirt in his hand as he sits on a simple black sofa, a small fire going behind him as a great view of Paris can be seen through the window. Mason looks down at the shirt, then tosses it back in to the fireplace.
"Now, why did I go and do that? The guy who has carried the horsemen flag high and proud for months now. Am I trying to send some kind of sybmolic message about how this match between myself and Al Envy could tear the Horsemen apart? Am I trying to say that I no longer need the Horsemen and that me beating Envy will be how I break free? Am I trying to say that shirt is Al Envy and I'm going to tear him apart in the second round of the two thousand and eighteen Global cup? Well those first two thoughts are really stupid. That last one isn't actually half bad, but it's not right either. I did that because The Midnight Horsemen are officially done. No doubt most people saw that happened at the recent Seattle Pro show. Myself and Al Envy were there along with our friends Hammerstein and Coral. Right there in the middle of the ring, we laid the Horsemen to bed. It wasn't because we were scared of a couple of former members or other assholes who said they could kill us. It wasn't because we hate each other and had to get away from each other. It was simply because there was nothing more for us to do under that banner. All of us had been champions at one point. We dominated in all different iterations of the group. End of the day, the name ain't important. That name unfortunately got associated with people that weren't worthy of it, which is why they got booted. So, we chose to end it in a blaze of glory."
Mason points back to the fire that has now turned the shirt into a pile of ash.
"For each of us, something better will rise up from the ashes. Myself and Envy, we're still gonna kick ass here in NGW. Hammy is gonna kick ass in Seattle. Coral, she'll kick ass wherever she ends up. The four of us don't need some group name or t shirts or any of that to be the best damn wrestlers on this planet. So for now, we move on and do our own things. For myself and Envy, that is the Two Thousand and Eighteen New Generation Wrestling Global Cup. Last show, I beat Jill Park to move on. In fact, I beat her so badly, that she ended up getting fired after our match. I ran her out of the damn company. Envy, well he beat that jackass former horsemen Billy Danielson and proved once again that he never belonged with the best in the World. Now, we come to round two and the way the bracket shakes out, only one of us can move on. Obviously this round is a lot different for me than the last round. Last show I was going in to the ring with someone that I already had a win against and did not like one damn bit. This show, I've got a match with a man I've never faced before, but that I like and respect. Last show, I had an opponent that hadn't been wrestling for very long. This Sunday night, I'm facing a man that has been in the business for quite a while. Last show, my opponent had never even sniffed championship gold. This Sunday, I face a man who has won multiple titles in multiple companies."
Mason stops for a second, moves up a little on the couch and leans in towards the camera.
"Here's the thing though. It doesn't matter how different my opponents are. Every single round, I am gonna be facing a completely different challenge. No matter what, this round was gonna be very different from the first round. Even if Danielson would have pulled out the win, major differences. The size of my opponent was gonna be closer to my own. The wrestling style was going to be more technically based with some much harder strikes mixed in. The talent level was going to be much higher. I was prepared for a completely different style of opponent no matter what. the only thing that wasn't sure, was if I was gonna be facing someone that I like and respect, or someone that I despise. Luckily, or maybe unluckily, I got the man I like and respect. That respect, it doesn't change what I have to do though. Just like I mentally prepared myself for this round, I've done the same for the next round. I intend on running through this entire tournament, winning that cup, cashing in on my Heavyweight title shot and becoming the first man to ever hold the Spotlight and Heavyweight titles and get myself in the hunt to become a a Gold Triple Crown winner, a Grand Slam champion, and a Five Star champion."
Mason stands up and raises his previously injured hand, showing all five fingers.
"I already made history with the Spotlight title, and I want to keep making history here in NGW. Al Envy, old buddy, old pal, you're standing in between myself and history. You're standing between myself and the Global Cup. Alan, you unfortunately have to be the second casualty in this Global Domination tour. I wish it was happening in the finals, but it's happening in round two. End result would still be the same either way, but it would have been a lot of fun to have an all Horsemen Alumni final. It's a little bit cliche, but I want you to remember that this ain't personal, just business."
Mason looks at the camera, nods slightly and then raises his fist towards it, almost as if he's giving his friend and soon to be opponent, a fist bump. He leaves it there as everything slowly fades out.
