Hey, Adam here. I guess I could stop introducing myself. After all, this is my blog, you probably aren’t exactly expecting anyone else. Maybe Eddie will get on here one day.
Tonight, I step into the ring as the West Coast Genesis Long Beach Champion. I step into the ring to defend it against someone I was hoping I wouldn’t have to defend the title against. I am quite used to being in awkward situations, but this is one that is very new to me.
The best forty-eight hour period of my life was the day I captured this championship on a Saturday night, and the following Monday morning, I gained a very special person in my life. That person is someone all of you know as Izzy Roxx. We started this relationship knowing that we were in the same division. So in a way, I guess we should have known this would come one day, seeing as though we have to have the title defended every Unscripted.
The announcement on the match has been a burden on me. But it’s been a bigger one on Izzy. She’s afraid of what the match can do to us. I’m afraid of what the match will do to us. But that’s on me. Because as the person with the most to lose, I need to make one thing absolutely clear to Izzy: it’s okay. We’re going to be okay as long as we both believe in one another and not let jealousy or anything like that consume us. And as someone what once watched my previous girlfriend win the NGW Five Lakes Championship, I know I can. I want to keep this championship and establish myself as a future star in this industry, but if there is one person I wouldn’t be afraid to losing this championship to, if there was one person that deserves a chance to show everyone just how talented and how much fight they got, it’s Izzy Roxx.
I’m not going to let her win. Don’t read that previous paragraph as such. I’m going to give her everything I have. And I want her to do the same. The moment that bell rings to start the match, I want us to forget that we are dating, and treat each other like we would any other opponent. You deserve a good match. And I hope you feel the same way, Izzy. I’d rather lose the title to you when you gave me everything you got than to win it because you didn’t even try. It wouldn’t feel like I really deserve to keep the title if that were the case. So I ask you, as your boyfriend, as the guy who drives out to your school to pick you up every day, the guy who helps you with any sort of Algebra problems you can’t figure out, as someone you play video games with until two in the morning...please...don’t half-heart this. This is our dream: Wrestling championships. It’s my dream, and I know it is yours.
You’re the most important person in my life right now, Izzy. If I lose the title to you, at least it went to someone who I will be so happy to see succeed. Thank you for how much you’ve changed my life.
I love you.
