RESULTS - WCG presents: Hype! - 010

The show starts off with a wide sweeping shot of the rowdy crowd inside the Tauzer Gym at Santa Rose Junior College. We go to Hayden Phoenix who looks pumped for the show.

Phoenix: Welcome to West Coast Genesis HYPE. I don’t know who is more excited about this show, myself or these great fans here at the Santa Rosa Junior College. This is HYPE number 10, a milestone for this young company and the card reflects that.

Before Hayden Phoenix can run down the card for the night, the lights dim slightly, then dark green lights aim at the entrance way. Smoke starts to slowly rise up from the ramp as “Like A Nightmare” begins to play. Jason Hunter walks out with a determined looks on his face. He stands there in the smoke for a few minutes before raising his right hand high. He looks down at the ramp, brings his arm down and fires an imaginary arrow down the ramp, then charges. He slides in the ring, jumps up to the second turnbuckle and stares out at the audience as they boo. He gives them the double gun salute, then jumps down and turns towards Mackenzie, demanding her mic.

Hunter: Mercedes, get your ass out here right now. I’m holding this show hostage until I get what I want and deserve.

Bad Bitch by Bebe Rexha beings playing, as Mercedes walks out. She looks down at the ring, while walking down. She slides into the ring under the bottom ropes, before getting up. She is handed a mic, as she looks at Jason. She shakes her head.

Mercedes: Really Jason, are we really having to go through this?

Hunter: You’re damn right we are. I am going to make it very easy for you though. I’m not even going to demand that you reverse the decision from Unscripted. I know that you would never do what is right.

Before Mercedes can fire back, Jason grabs the top of her microphone.

Hunter: You don’t need to talk for this. So you can shut the hell up, listen to what I have to say and then when I am done, and only then, will you get to speak.

The crowd boos loudly and pretty soon a “You’re a douchebag” chant starts up.

Hunter: Like I care what you morons think. Mercedes, later on tonight I am going to defeat the current West Coast Genesis champion. That is more than enough to earn myself a title match, so that is what I want. I want you to put aside your bias and your prejudice and guarantee me that once I defeat Donovan Basch, I will get my title match. Hell, you can make the next Crossroad main event a triple threat just to stack the deck against me a bit. So now Mercedes, you are allowed to talk. I warn you now, your answer had better be the right one. If not, nobody in this arena is getting what they want. I will ruin this entire damn show.

Hunter stares down at Mercedes as he moves his hand off her mic, then steps back, giving her the ‘floor’ Mercedes looks at him, as she smirks. She starts talking.

Mercedes: Really Jason, I am getting sick, and tired of people who think they should get what they demand. It didn’t work with Julianna, and it will not work with you. If you keep my show held up, I will actually make it where you never get a shot. I know you have talent, but your attitude is going to make it harder for you to get what you want. I am done dealing with childish behaviour from self centered people like you, and Julianna. Just like I did with Izzy, I am putting my foot down.

She pauses, as she steps closer to Jason, showing him she was not going to let him push his way into anything.

Mercedes: You have your match tonight, you keep having your matches, and we will see if you get a shot. Right now Melina Garrison is the #1 contender, and that is not changing because someone wants to throw his weight around, and act like he was screwed out of something, when he was not. I’m looking for serious people to be given title chances, not ones who will let their attitude screw them out of things. The choice is yours Jason, keep up the attitude, and get nothing, or knock the attitude off, and keep winning to get your shot.

Hunter: So you’re going to let your blind hatred from me ruin this show, huh Mercedes. All I want is the guarantee that I will have a title match after I beat the current champion. Everything I have done so far, I deserve that guarantee. I should have been named the number one contender after I won that Texas Death match. I should have been named number one contender after I beat the South Bay champion. If I beat the West Coast champion later tonight, I want your guarantee that I will earn a future West Coast Genesis Championship match.

Jason stares at her, drops his mic down and just mouths the words ‘last chance’ to her.

Mercedes: Just because you beat someone in non #1 contendership matches, does not mean you are automatically next to get a shot. If go by that, Melina should have long had a shot when she had beat Julianna. You know what, I will not change the Crossroads match. You are not going to dictate that, but IF, a big IF you beat Donovan, you will get a shot the Hype after Crossroads. You just better hope it ends up well for you.

Hunter looks at Mercedes with a smirk and picks up his mic.

Hunter: That is all that I wanted. Thank you Miss Carter.

Hunter drops the mic back down and starts to leave, but then turns towards the camera. He looks at it for a bit, the pulls it in close.

Hunter: Keep that title nice and warm for me Donovan. Shine it up every damn day between now and May nineteenth, because I am beating you tonight and then I am taking that title from you. Unless Melina takes it from you and I get to beat her once again.

Hunter shoves the camera back and exits the ring to a chorus of boos. Melina shakes her head, as she exits the ring, and heads to the back.






Mackenize: The following opening contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first…

The fans begin to get anxious on their feet, anticipating the first in-ring action for the evening. Their anticipation is not rewarded when they realize the first person who is coming out to the ring. "Lowlife" by Theory of a Deadman starts playing on the PA as Chris "The Filth" Marks appears on the ramp, reveling in the spotlight that shines on him.

Mackenzie: From Oakland, California, weighing in at two hundred sixty pounds, he is...CHRIS "THE FILTH" MARKS!

Marks swaggers down to the ring, enjoying each and every step onto the apron and into the ring before raising his arms on each turnbuckle.

Phoenix: I think the fans were hoping for someone a bit more...important...for the opening match. Of course, this is where one would stick Chris Marks, who is battling it out for yet another opportunity to join our ranks. Not that I’m wanting him too. He smells…

O Fortuna begins to play, and as the music hits a crescendo Iphy makes her way from behind the curtain. Medrapedes hops in place for a moment, before nodding to the crowd, and making her way to the ring. Once at ringside, she makes her way up the steel steps, and steps into the ring. Iphigenia enters her corner, and begins to limber up as she awaits the matches start.

Mackenzie: And his opponent, from Sparta, Greece, weighing in at one hundred twenty-seven pounds. She is...IPHIGENIA MEDRAPEDAS!!

Phoenix: You have to admire Mackenzie’s ability to pronounce her name. I’ve just been calling her Iphy like everyone else for time saving purposes. By the time I work through Iphigenia Medrapedes, usually another attack has happened.

The fans begin chanting “Fudge Yeah” as Marks looks at Iphy with a look of disgust, ironic coming from him. The bell sounds to start the match and Marks wastes no time with a quick clothesline.

DING DING DING

Marks begins stomping on Iphigenia Medrapedes from the word go. The fans shower him in boos as he keeps going, eventually shouting at all the fans before dropping Iphy in the center of the ring with a power slam.

Phoenix: Chris Marks actually pulling off attacks? This is new.

Marks tosses her into the ropes and leaps on top of her on the rebound, throwing wild punches at the Greek wrestler. The fans keep booing until they begin chanting Fudge Yeah once more. This gives Iphigenia Medrapedes enough to fight her way back to her feet, eventually landing a knee to his midsection and applies a quick hammerlock. Marks winces a little bit before eventually getting free of the move and grabbing Iphy.

Phoenix: I’d feel so uncomfortable if I was Iphy right now.

Marks turns the grab into a belly to belly suplex. Marks attempts to follow this up with a lariat, but Iphy ducks the move and drops him with a neckbreaker.

Phoenix: I think Marks is still a little scared of neckbreakers after his match with Matthew Shields.

Iphigenia Medrapedes follows up the move with an arm drag, the much heavier Chris Marks making a loud boom as he hits the mat. Iphy follows it up by stomping on the same arm Marks had weakened by the hammerlock earlier. She holds the arm in place, lifts her body in the air and drops her knees onto the arm. She can be heard speaking to Marks.

Medrapedes: Bad Christopher! That was not nice what you said!

Marks has a reply for Iphy.

Marks: FUCK YOU

Iphy repeats the leaping knee strike to Marks’s arm. Marks has enough as he begins to fight her off and sends Iphigenia Medrapedes into the ropes once more. He appears to want to kitchen sink the Spartan but Iphy holds onto the ropes instead of bouncing off of them. When Marks runs back at her, she uses the ropes as leverage to allow both of her feet to connect to his jaw. She quickly tackles him as he is turned around, dropping him to the mat and allowing her to plant her knee into Marks’s shoulder. It only takes a few seconds for Marks to free himself, but it certainly added the damage to him before he does.

Phoenix: Iphy, knowing how much larger Marks is than her is using her smarts to attack him, going after a certain body part. This is a good strategy.

Marks starts flexing the shoulder and arm as he gets back up, immediately dropping Iphy with a quick boot to the face. Knowing he needs to overpower Iphy in order to get the win and finally get his long awaited contract, he lifts Iphigenia Medrapedes in the air, military press style...but the targeted arm gives out on him, and Iphy takes him down with a modified tornado DDT. Iphigenia Medrapedes quickly locks in an armbar on the injured arm.

Phoenix: And all that arm targeting has paid off for Iphy! She was able to escape the power moves of Chris Marks because he couldn’t keep control of her because of his arm. And now Marks is on the mat, nowhere near the ropes, and in a submission targeting that same arm.

Marks looks at the distance between him and the ropes. He tries to pull himself in that direction, but it’s taking a lot of effort to do so. He lets out a yell as he tries to do it again and realizes the cause is a lost one. He slaps the mat three times to forfeit the match.

Phoenix: Wow. An armbar did it. Interesting.

DING DING DING

Mackenzie: Here is your winner, IPHIGENIA MEDRAPEDAS!!

Phoenix: Possibly the best effort Marks has given us, granted the bar was not high. And the fans are chanting Fudge Yeah again!




Within the Tauzer Gym, Remi Fontaine is on the floor performing a series of push-ups. This seems to be one of his regular warm-up routines before his matches. He’s all dressed in his ring attire, his glasses already set in his case, and he’s focused. His representative, Daniel Daemon, has left the young man to find his seat. He’s taken in the harsh lesson both Daniel and his Uncle Martin taught him yesterday, softly reaffirming the words.

Remi: ...I can win… I will win…

His bright blue eyes narrow as he continues to say these words with every push-up. It was at that moment that he hears a voice other than his own, prompting him to look up.

Adam: This should be Remi’s locker room.

Adam slowly opens the locker room door before poking his head inside the room.

Adam: Remi, you in here?

Remi: Down here.

The 18-year-old young man pushes himself up and jumps to his feet. A drop of sweat falls down the tip of his nose before he moves over and grabs a small towel. He wipes his forehead, grabs his strawberry banana BodyArmor, and takes a nice swig.

Remi: Yo. What’s up, Adam?

Adam opens the door the rest of the way, revealing another man standing in the hallways.

Adrien: I see someone is excited about their match. Push-ups, aye?

Adrien gives a quick grin before entering the locker room. He doesn’t go to a whole lot of WCG shows so this is his first time entering the Tauzer Gym.

Adrien: Hope me showing up doesn’t cause any sort of distraction for you, Remi. You all good, kid?

Remi blinks, surprised to see not only Adam Sanders but Adrien Cochrane as well. The intense demeanor he carries on his face has quickly faded and he manages to smile.

Remi: Ah, I’m good. No distractions can throw me off. I’m kinda surprised to see you both. What’s the occasion?

Adam: Well, Adrien is here for the same reason he began attending my first handful of matches.

Adrien continues for Adam since he can probably verbalize his intentions a bit better than the former Long Beach Champion can.

Adrien: This is a scouting mission. I want to see what you do well. I want to see what you can improve on. And most of all, I want you to know that there’s someone here who is looking forward to you scoring a victory, which could just be the extra edge you need.

The Rebel Angel does recall the Twitter conversation between him and the Dropkick King. He takes another sip of his drink and nods.

Remi: I remember. I didn’t think you’d actually show up backstage. In the audience, sure, but… this meeting feels a little more intimidating than our first one yesterday.

Remi scratches the back and chuckles a little nervously.

Remi: To be honest, I kinda hoped Jack Wilde would’ve taken my advice and stayed home to be a father to his daughter, but you know… I’ve been working too hard for this. College classes Monday through Thursday, wrestling and training Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I made a deal with my dad. I can continue to be a wrestler in West Coast Genesis as long as I keep up with my grades. I know I’m eighteen now, but we’ve always kept our deals like a tradition… It’s a thing.

Adrien: Personally, I’m glad that Jack Wilde showed up…

At this, Remi raises an eyebrow and takes another sip of the BodyArmor.

Remi: Really? ...Why?

Adrien: Because you should always want the best of an opponent. And a no-show is never that. Motivation is something that can change on a whim. Look at the time I faced Johnny Maverick last year. I could have taken an easy win. He just wanted to give it to me, wanting no effort. But I dragged it out of him and finally got him to give me a fight. Even last Unscripted, Izzy didn’t want to fight Adam until she basically had to. Adam had to draw that out of her. Finally, we all got to see one hell of a Long Beach Title match. No matter who your opponent is and what they are focused on, you should always want them to give you everything you got. That’s what we get paid to do. Put on the best match we can. And we can’t do that with an absent opponent or one that half-asses. So I hope Jack Wilde is motivated to prove you wrong and show you a real fight. It will make the victory so much sweeter if you pull it off.

The young man considers Adrien’s words. He looks to Adam, who seems to look a little more awkward than usual. Perhaps the mention of the last Unscripted and his title match against his own girlfriend was a little disoriented. Still, Remi takes the words of wisdom and he nods.

Remi: Yeah... they’re right. You do ramble on.

Adam begins to chuckle as Adrien’s jaw drops.

Adam: He really does…

Adrien: HEY!!

Remi bursts out into laughter and a big grin crosses his face.

Remi: Non, non, you’re right. Let Jack Wilde give it the best he’s got… So I can kick his ass all over Santa Rosa!

? ? ?: Language!

From the open doorway, his father Quentin Fontaine stands with his arms folded across his chest. Remi immediately rolls his eyes.

Remi: Really, dad?

Quentin: If it’s not me, it’s your aunt.

The elder Fontaine acknowledges Adrien and Adam and politely bows his head. He regards his son once more with a smile.

Quentin: Are you ready, son?

Remi: Dad, I was born for greatness. I’m ready.

Adam: Go get ‘em, Remi!!

Adrien gives a courteous grin.

Adrien: I believe in you, Remi. Hashtag Believe even. Come on, Adam, you gotta get ready for Tasmin and Nite Stalker. Mr. Fontaine, nice to meet you, sir.

Adrien offers a handshake to Remi’s father before they depart. Quentin accepts the handshake with a firm grasp and he kindly steps aside to let Adrien and Adam exit. He turns to his son and nods.

Quentin: Come on. Xaria’s waiting for us.

Remi breathes deeply and nods in return. He twists the cap back on his drink, hands his glasses case over to his father, and takes off towards the direction of ringside. Quentin takes a deep breath himself and he follows suit as the scene fades to black.



The lights go out to draw emphasis on the big screen as 'Only God Knows' begins to play over the arena. The screen cuts to the backstage area, focusing in on the door of a locker room as the intro to the music continues to blare in the distance. The door opens as the crowd jump to the feet at the sight on the screen of Jack Wilde emerging into the backstage halls. The cameras retreat capturing his walk as he makes his way down the corridor stretching his arms and rolling his neck, looking extremely focused. He gives the cameras a cheeky wink before making his way through the curtains reaches and out into the arena. The momentum builds and the crowd go wild as he stands atop the ramp surveying the cheering fans, before making his way to the ring, dishing out hand slaps along the way.

Mackenzie: The following contest is scheduled for one fall. First to the ring… he is Jack Wilde!

The moment the music hits, the lights go out and the fans rise with anticipation.

“Ohh yeah! Ohh yeah! Ohh yeah!”

The lights flicker on and off to the rhythm of the lyrics. “Angel with a Shotgun” by The Cab begins to come to life.

“I’m an angel with a shotgun
(Shotgun, shotgun)
Angel with a shotgun
(Shotgun, shotgun)”

The click-click of the song’s shotgun brings the lights back on and standing on the entrance stage is “The Rebel Angel” Remi Fontaine! The fans cheer for the young man as he looks awestruck towards the crowd.

“Get out your guns
Battle’s begun!
Are you a saint or a sinner?

If love’s a fight,
Then I shall die
With my heart on the trigger!”

By his sides are his father Quentin Fontaine and his aunt, “The Rainbow Angel” Xaria Karloff. Remi looks to his family and they give him approving nods. With a grin, he runs down the ramp, tagging fans along the way, and he slides into the ring. He pushes himself up to his feet and he raises his arms in sheer excitement.

“They say before you start a war,
You better know what you’re fighting for.

Well, baby, you are all that I adore.
If love is what you need,
A soldier I will be!”

Remi’s in awe of the positive response. He lowers his arms with a huge grin on his face. Soon his father and his aunt join him in the ring and they take his hands. They raise each of Remi’s arms once more and the fans react with more cheers. Xaria smiles at her nephew while Quentin offers his son quick advice before they exit the ring. Remi firmly nods and takes off his jacket, handing it to them as he waits.

Mackenzie: And his opponent… The Rebel Angel…. Remi Fontaine!

DING DING DING

As soon as the bell rings, Wilde charges in and delivers a big dropkick to Fontaine, sending him in to the corner. Wilde pops up and hits a quick snap suplex and floats right over into a pin, but doesn't even get a one count. Wilde pulls Fontaine up and quickly connects with a Northern Lights suplex, bridging right in to the pin. Fontaine again kicks out before the ref even begins his count. Wilde delivers a hard stomp to the midsection of Fontaine, then a few more before he pulls Fontaine up once more and delivers a snap suplex. Both men pull back up to their feet. Remi uses a series of kicks to Jack to push him back towards the ropes. Remi looks for an Irish Whip as he sends Jack across the man. Wilde rebounds as Remi hits a standing dropkick sending Wilde to the mat. Remi covers.

ONE

And Jack powers out of it. Wilde manages to beat Remi to a vertical base and takes Remi down with a Russian Leg Sweep. He covers Remi.

Phoenix: Jack Wilde is sure showing Remi up, early on!

Remi powers out. Wilde looks over to the ref, showing obvious frustration. Wilde pulls Fontaine up once more and goes behind, then delivers a belly-to-back suplex. He covers.

The distraction from Wilde not able to stay focused allows Fontaine time to pull himself up in the corner, and he levels Wilde with a massive Discus Elbow Smash. Wilde stumbles up to his feet and catches a superkick that nearly misses his jaw, but his shoulder instead. Fontaine covers.

ONE

And Wilde kicks out. Remi heads up to his feet and looks over for the corner. Remi heads up to the second rope and leaps off using a Double Foot Stomp. He lands hard on Wilde, almost falling, as he covers again.

And Wilde again kicks out.

Phoenix: Fontaine getting fired up here and looking like he might have thrown Wilde off his game.

Jack rolls to the outside as Remi looks on.

Wilde stays outside, as the ref begins his count. At six, Fontaine tries to go out and get him, but he stopped himself as he decided Jack should come to him.. The ref continues his count

Wilde slides in to the ring as Remi begins to stomp at him. Lifting Wilde up to his feet, Remi holds his head and uses the ropes in the corner for “Around the World” (Tornado DDT) as he plants Jack. Remi rolls him over for a cover.

But Remi pulls Jack back up off of the mat.

Phoenix: What… What is he doing?

Remi smiles as he locks in “Angelic Clutch v2” (Fujiwara Armbar) as Wilde yells in pains. Remi pulls on the arm as Jack struggles.

Phoenix: Wow. That was a bit of a cocky move, but you gotta like it.

Jack cannot hold on as he taps out.

DING DING DING

Remi holds onto the move after the ring of the bell. The referee has to pry Remi off.

Phoenix: Looks like the youngster is awfully eager!

Remi stands to his feet.

Mackenzie: The winner of the match… REMI FONTAINE!

He is proud of his win as the cameras move backstage.




We open to James Pridmore sitting in is his locker room. He’s staring at his hands, but eventually snaps out of it. He smirks that famous Danielson Family smirk, as he begins to speak.

James: "Upstart Incorporated is more than just a catchy thing to say. It’s a mindset and way of life. I have had a lot of things to overcome in my life, and still have so much more.

My upbringing, made me glory hungry, my pedigree made me shallow. I was raised from birth to be the next level of great. My cousin likes to make a comment that he’s Billy “The GOAT” Danielson, but the reality is, he’s a trial run. He was the prototype and the trailblazer, but I’m the next step up on the evolutionary chain.

I know I have an ego, and as much as I like to think I have it in check, I know I don’t. I’ve done my best to reconcile my mistakes, but I tend to trample all over that hard work to make me seem that I’m as respectable as I say I should be. For every action with Austen, there’s a mishap with Julianna. For every save, there is a corner cut. Top that all off with a psycho who has been trying to tear me down since the moment I had my first match. I know I’m not some great hero, and I’m certainly not claiming I am either.”

He pauses for a moment. Slowly he is realizing how bumpy of a road he has been on since January. He sighs as he continues

”I’m, just someone who understands both sides, the good and the bad, and I try to walk that thin line every day. I try to defend those that never had anyone before, and I try to support those that don’t necessarily support me back. I go back and forth with this all the time, but there is only so much tug and pull one man can take. Each day that goes by, I feel the little cracks start to form, and it’s becoming harder to contain what amount of self-respect and honor I have, and to not just go all out on people.”

Gritting his teeth, he tries his best to reserve his personal anguish. Knowing that every day he teeters over a dangerous tightrope, is hard for anyone.

”It’s a fatal flaw I have that leaves me so vulnerable, and people like Nite Stalker are trying to exploit that. They are trying to rip me in half, and see what it is like when a guy who has no limit on his ability, finally breaks. They want to see me fall to their level, and to be honest it is only a matter of time until I start doing what I have to do to survive.

If Nite Stalker, or anyone else that doubts me, wants me to see their ‘One True Reality’, that’s fine, because in the end, I will enter their reality, and I will tear it down. If they want me to crack and fall apart, I will bring them with me. I will take everything they throw at me, and I will build MY empire using their own false worlds.”

James balls his fists up, and stands up. His enthusiasm and passion bleeding through his words.

”That’s what it means to be a part of Upstart Inc. It’s knowing that no matter how much I crack, no matter how much I fall, I will just rise up. Every scar will build my throne, just like the song says. I will take my place at the top sooner or later, and nobody will stop that.

Not Nite Stalker, not Melina Garrison, not even Donovan Basch. I will rise above it all, and when everyone looks out on the Legacy of West Coast Genesis, I will be one of the very first names that comes to mind!”

He takes a breath to cut back on his excitement. He's suddenly calm and cool, as he smirks that famous Danielson family smirk.

”I am James Warren Pridmore.
I am the upgrade. I am the next step. I am the living highlight reel.
I AM UPSTART INC!
I am the guy everyone will pay to see, and nobody will forget. And when it comes down to it,
Love me or hate me,
You will NEVER break me!”

The scene fades away!



Mackenzie: The following non-title contest is scheduled for one fall, introducing first, from Los Angeles, California, weighing in at two hundred pounds, he is...ZAKARI PHOENIX!!

Smoke begins to billow onto the entrance area as the intro guitar riff to “Phoenix” by Stradivarius begins to play. Out walks Jackson Jones, his handler in a black business suit followed by someone on all fours wearing a green purple and gray pup mask, he has a collar and leash around his neck. The pup walks to the front of Jones as he looks down and pets the pup the head as helping the pup to stand. Still holding onto the leash the suited man leads the other down the ring as the crowd doesn’t really know what to make of the scene.

Phoenix: So no relation to me. Zakari Phoenix is a talented youngster from this state. Actually, we have two native Californians booked in this match tonight. But Phoenix has currently won half of his last four matches. We’ll see if he can break the five hundred mark for the year in this match-up.

As they both reach the ring, the pup enters the ring under the bottom rope as the Jackson Jones enters through the second and top ropes. The pup then gets back on all fours as Jones comes up behind him again and pets the pup on the head again. This time he slowly unfastens the back straps and takes off the mask to reveal Zakari Phoenix behind the mask. Zakari stands and cocks his head to side as the Jones exits the ring walking over to Phoenix's corner. Zakari then backs up and walks over to his corner as he readies himself for the match.

Mackenzie: And his opponent, from Across the Izzyverse, weighing in at one hundred five pounds, she is the West Coast Genesis LONG BEACH CHAMPION, she is...IZZY ROXX!!

The house lights dim and a strobe light show starts near the entranceway as an echo-y, staccato keyboard riff begins to play across the arena speakers.

Do you remember
It's me, old Whatsername
Can't believe it
But you ain't dreamin'
I don't look quite the same

As the vocals kick in, Izzy Roxx comes out, followed by her tubby manager, cameraman and best friend Seth Walton. She can be seen mouthing 'Welcome to the Izzyverse, baby!' as she stands with her legs spread out and points towards the arena ceiling with both hands, her entire body bobbing to the beat. She then takes her Long Beach Championship from around her shoulder, lifting it up above her head just as the chorus kicks in:

I'm looking down from the skyline
Dancin' on the moonlight
Can you see my name in the stars, yeah
I bet you won't forget me now!

Phoenix: Izzy was under the impression her title was on the line when she shot her video for this match. Perhaps the stress of winning the championship has messed with the eighteen year old’s perception. She seems to be upset at the fact that her first championship came at the expense of her boyfriend. She calls herself the “official title sitter”. Certainly something I never thought I’d see.

Then, as the song moves on to its second verse, Izzy proceeds to race down the ramp, slapping every hand in sight. Upon reaching ringside, she vaults onto the top rope, then down onto the canvas, from where she continues to mug to, and interact with, the crowd until the song fades out. Izzy extends her hand out for Phoenix as the bell sounds.

DING DING DING

Phoenix turns the handshake offer into a short arm clothesline, drawing some ire from the fans. He thrusts his foot into her midsection to add onto it.

Phoenix: Well, not exactly the sportsmanship way to go about this… But technically what he did was legal. Just disrespectful.

Zakari lifts up Izzy and tosses her into the corner and begins the allotted ten strikes before he’s told to stop by the referee. Once all ten have been completed, he begins a foot choke on the cornered Izzy til he is told to stop once more after a ten count. Zakari begins feeling pretty good about himself as he looks at the cornered Izzy, taking her down with a quick brainbuster.

Phoenix: All the control has gone to Zakari so far. Izzy needs to find a way to get a turnaround here. Cover by Zakari.

THR...NO!!

Zakari keeps the pressure on as he lands a quick DDT on Izzy before an idea pops into his head. He begins climbing the top rope, but not for his trademarked frog splash.

Phoenix: Don’t you think it’s a little early in the match to try this...he’s going for it...Poetic Justice. He’s trying the Rocketship…

The fans erupt as it was indeed “poetic justice”. Zakari does not land the Rocketship. Izzy gets back up to her feet, looking at the missed Rocketship attempt.

Roxx: You tried too hard to be like me because you failed the landing like I always do!! Just Saiyan!

Phoenix: I mean, she’s not wrong.

Roxx lands a quick dropkick on Phoenix after he was on his hands and knees. Izzy gets the cover.

TH...NO!!

Zakari kicks out after the count of two. He tries to lift Izzy as they both get up, but Izzy slips away, landing on her feet behind him and leaping back up, taking him down with a frankensteiner.

Phoenix: And our Long Beach Champion is back in control!

Izzy is close enough to the corner that she is able to sit atop the corner and land a tornado DDT on Zakari. Another cover.

Phoenix is able to kick out once more. Phoenix sweeps Izzy’s legs to get a bit of leverage in the match. He whips Izzy into the ropes and thumps her with a double knee strike to her chest. He picks her up and drops her in the center of the ring with a booming piledriver.

Phoenix: WHOA!! He’s out here trying to break her neck!! Cover by Zakari…

THR...NO!!!

Phoenix: I did not think Izzy would kick out of that piledriver! Heart of a true champion in the ring.

Zakari pulls Izzy back up, prompting an attempt at his signature “My Turn” but Izzy ducks under the hurricanrana portion of the move, bounces off the ropes and lands a swift bulldog to stop Zakari in his tracks. Both competitors are down, as the referee begins counting.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Zakari and Izzy are both using the ropes to get back to their feet.

Five.

Six.

Zakari is on his feet to stop the count. Izzy isn’t far behind him. Knowing two of his match enders didn’t work, he knows he has to go for something else. He whips Izzy into the corner, going for the Climatic Ending...BUT IZZY HAS HER FEET READY FOR HIM!!

Phoenix: Izzy has both feet in the air to connect in the corner when Zakari attempted the clothesline part of the Climatic Ending. Now Izzy is climbing the top rope as Phoenix stumbles backwards.

Izzy leaps and connects...ACROSS THE IZZYVERSE!

Phoenix: She got some hangtime on that one!

Izzy looks at Zakari and realizes she has two choices. Go for the pin, risk a two count. The other...well, it would get her a three count but she could not land the move…

Phoenix: She’s climbing the top rope again! She’s going for it! ROCKETSHIP IZZY!!

The move…...LANDS!!! The fans go wild as Izzy hooks the leg!

Against the Current fills the arena as she is handed her Long Beach Championship, rolling out of the ring with the belt, still in shock she was able to pull off the move.
