006 * (Don't Act Like It’s A) Bad Thing
Scene 001
Childhood home of Avery Miles III
Indio, California
November 12th, 2016
OFF CAMERA
*Avery is sitting at the kitchen table of his parents house. His father, fast asleep in his chair with the USC game on; they upset the Huskies. This was one of the few times Avery was able to talk with his mom. Avery’s eyes seem to be wandering, and he resorts almost back as if he were the sixteen year old version of himself.*
Katherine: Avery, when are you going to marry that girl?
Avery: Wow, mom. Putting it all out there.
Katherine: You know I love her. You love her.
*She yells*
Katherine: YOUR DAD LOVES HER!
*Jonathan wakes up abruptly with some snorts and deep breaths*
Jonathan: Huh? What? Yeah. Love. Uh huh.
*He falls back asleep as Katherine shakes her head*
Katherine: Avery Jonathan Miles, II… for pete’s sake that man can sleep.
*She chuckles*
Katherine: So, when Avery?
Avery: Well it’s not like I don’t have grandma’s ring…
Katherine: Taylor will absolutely love that ring.
Avery: And I did buy an engagement ring also.
Katherine: Oh my, Avery! You are going to do it soon, aren’t you?
Avery: I just want… I want it to be perfect. She deserves that.
Katherine: That girl is head over heels for you. Listen Avery.
*Avery nods and listens closely*
Katherine: You know that I loved Zoe, God rest her soul. What you two had was amazing. But she just… you and her didn’t click like you and Taylor did. When she had to move away, you were not yourself. Even with Zoe. Taylor has always been your everything, and I can tell that no matter what she just wants to marry you. Quit making her wait, and make it happen.
Avery: Well, I did sort of have an idea….
*Katherine perks up as the scene comes to an end*

OFF CAMERA
*We open as Avery and Taylor are sitting on the couch. A rare day off from anything, he spends some time with the two girls that mean more than anything in the world. The television is on but neither pay attention*
Avery: Yeah. What a whirlwind of things lately. Trying to sign Honey as a trainee. Won the top title in Guerreros. Actually won a match in Redemption… plus my girl is carrying, and looking amazing doing it.
*Taylor lightly punches his shoulder and blushes.*
Taylor: I think you're just trying to get some brownie points now so I don't murder you during delivery in a few months.
*She looks down to the little girl in her lap who has dozed off as her mother had stroked the hair at her temple*
Avery: We are what, a week and a half away from Thanksgiving? The Holidays are sure coming up fast. Our first together. I just… I am excited. And to get to see her face on Christmas morning. I know that I am still learning this daddy thing, but she still believes… right?
*He tilts his head looking at Taylor, hoping it is a yes*
Taylor: Yes. I am not going to be the one that breaks that news to her. If she finds out by someone else than I can be here to comfort her. I assume that both Thanksgiving and Christmas will be with your parents but what about LJ and Em. Maybe we should invite them since they both back in the states?
*She looks up at him, hoping he says it's okay. Emma had turned out to be one of Taylor's closest friends and the idea of her coming back to the states was exciting news.*
Avery: Sure. I bet they’d love it here.
*Avery hadn’t had much time to catch up with LJ. He and Emma had been friends via proxy, but he and her had always seen eye to eye inside of the ring.*
Avery: Where are they staying?
Taylor: A crappy hotel in LA. They couldn't seem to get a reservation last minute. I have been trying to find some property they could lease though.
*Avery looks at the stairs*
Avery: This house is sort of a mini-mansion. I can remember the first time I tossed a rock at your parent’s window. Then your dad’s office. And the bathroom. And then the spare bedroom.
*He laughs*
Avery: We have a couple of rooms. You think they would want to stay here with-
*He asks*
Taylor: I could ask, but you know they both have this weird thing about feeling like a burden to people. It's why I didn't ask that to begin with. But I will just guilt them with disappearing months ago.
*Taylor lets out a soft chuckle. Avery shakes his head, knowing that Taylor can get her way quite easily.*
Avery: When are we going to tell Brooky about the little ones on their way?
*Taylor looks down at her sleeping girl again.*
Taylor: I don't know. I’ve been trying to think of the right way. I don't want it to be like when my parents told me about my brother coming. But then again there is no life threatening made up disease for these babies either. Was like, ‘Taylor you're going to be a sister but don't get excited because there's a big chance he’s not going to survive’. Maybe that's why I'm scared. Like in the back of my mind I know that Brook is the same age I was and it devastated me greatly. I just want it to be momentous and special for her.”
*She smiles down, once again tucking blonde hair behind the girl's ear.*
Avery: When the time is right. Speaking of… is your brother visiting for the Holidays? Have you been keeping in touch at all with him?
*Avery takes a mental picture of the scene in his head; nights like this were worth all of the travel and business deals going on*
Taylor: Off and on. He’s been away. His grandfather has been grooming him to take over the Castle empire. I'm not sure about the holidays though. I will certainly ask though.
*Avery rubs the shoulders of Taylor as she leans her head on his shoulder*
Avery: Good. A year later, things are much different. And I am honestly happy. Thank you, Tay.
*He smiles*
Avery: I love you.
*She looks up at him.*
Taylor: You keep thanking me for this life like I am doing you a favor. You need to stop worrying that this has an expiration date. I am not going anywhere. I promise you that. I love you too. More than you’ll ever know. The only thing other than Brooklyn that kept me going all these years was knowing that despite everything, I still had my love for you and no amount of black eyes and bruises could take that away.”
*Without saying another word, the two of them share just a moment in time. Truly enjoying the day off. Each other’s company. And the calm before the Holidays. This year was something else, but there was still plenty of time life for other major happenings.*

*We open to an empty arena as Avery Miles III stands in the center of the ring. It has been awhile since we last saw Avery early to a show like this, and he wants to make it count*
Two on two. Facing a team that I am familiar with. A team that I respect and can count on not cheating to pull one out. But let’s start out with what is going on with The Pride.
It’s true we lost Angel as a team member. Two on a team is not ideal, but it can be done. Just look at Rebel Ink, Chaos Love, or Radicalliance. That is okay, because Trixie and I have been training. Working on things together as a team. And we were already associated thanks to Taylor and Alpha Rising. We might be brand new as a team, but as Damon and Aurora know I can really take it to them. I fought them two on one and gave them a hell of a fight.
I have nothing but respect for Rebel Ink. It was too bad that I never got a shot back at them for the tag titles in NGW, but who knows? Maybe a win here might end up with some sort of convoluted way of earning another shot at them? Or whoever the champions are after the Pay Per View.
I know the two of them have been running like a well oiled machine as of late and it is going to take everything that we have to beat them, but I would not have it any other way.
Best of luck to the both of you. May the best team win.
