The scene opens up in a gorgeous suite inside the beautiful and rustic Villa Kennedy hotel in Frankfurt. The sweep of the room shows a twist of traditional German style, mixed with elegance of a high priced hotel. The room oversees the courtyard, where many of the guests are right now, except one. The camera focuses on a very large, rustic looking recliner. As we swivel around the chair, we see Billy Danielson.
Billy Danielson is wearing an NGW shirt, however, the wings of the phoenix logo are colored like the German flag, further feeding the orgy of evidence that NGW is Germany. He smirks, as he leans forward, closer to the camera.
“The Global Cup begins tonight, right here in Frankfurt, Germany, and it’s about to pick up fast. Devlin Scott, ever the money making genius, has put one of the biggest grudge matches in NGW as a first round bout. Billy Danielson versus Al Envy for the very first time… ever. It’s a generational feud, it’s a blood feud, it’s a one-upmanship feud, and it’s a first time face-off. It’s every kind of feud there can be, rolled into one, but it is so much more than that..
He claims I’m his clone, and that everything I do, is a copy of what he does. He makes himself out to be my idol and my mentor, and at one point maybe that was true, but honestly, he’s just insecure. Alan Envy, as big of a name as he is, is jealous that guys like Scotty and I, who trained in half of the time he has, and have been wrestling a fourth of the time he has, and are just as successful or more so. He can’t handle the idea of being of being outdated, and it fills him with… well… envy.”
Billy leans back in his chair, crossing his legs as he does so.
“That’s why you stabbed Scotty and I in the back back in December. You couldn’t handle the idea that you were getting immensely popular through a group your “whiny ass nephew and his shitty friend” made. You couldn’t handle the fact that the team YOU dubbed the Future Elite of this industry had become the CURRENT Elite of wrestling, and we were rising above you. You let your fragile ego get the better of you, and so you took all of our hardwork, and ruined it. You turned our friends against us, and you drove the Horsemen into the ground, all because you couldn’t handle being considered below Scotty and I.
I understand that you thinks you paved the way for guys like me. Sure, why not, but to say that I am a knockoff of you, are you nuts? That’s like saying the iPhone X is a knockoff of the Motorola Razr. Sure, at one point the Razr was the most popular phone in the game, and everyone wanted one. However today, if you have a Motorola Razr, you get laughed at. Compared to the iPhone X, the Motorola Razr is an outdated and obsolete piece of tech that serves as a nostalgia for Hipsters.
Alan Envy you are no different than the most popular phone of 2005. You are only a few years older than me, but the difference in quality and ability is definitely noticeable. You’ve been wrestling for 13 years more than I, yet here I am standing on the level you’ve worked so hard on making it to. I’ve done everything you’ve done in about an eighth of the time. I did it all before I knew you, and I did even more after you. You may have helped me along the way, but you are in no way better than I am, and you are in no way the person that can claim the responsibility for my success.”
His phone goes off. Billy picks up the phone and laughs. He shows the phone to the camera, revealing that Al Envy had quoted his tweet promoting his match for tonight. It had Al saying all of the tropes Billy had just ranted about for the past few minutes.
“Alan Envy, Ladies and Gentlemen. The most predictable egomaniac in all of wrestling. Even more predictable than Matthew Shields, and that’s really saying something.”
He writes a quick reply, and puts his phone on silent, before going back to his promo.
“Tonight, right here in Frankfurt, we will start the Global Cup with a bang. I know that this match won’t be easy. Like I said, at one point, you did mentor me, because you were still mentoring Scotty. I understand your level of skill, and the fact that you have eight times the experience I do. But experience and skill do not always equate. I have been to war before. I have wrestled everything from a leg to robot to a ghost, and I’ve beaten all of them. I have wrestled on almost every continent, and I have won titles on every level, from rookie belts to world heavyweight championships.
I am sick and tired of you undermining everything I do, and at Dissension, I am going to beat you. Not like in Madrid, because I didn’t beat you in Madrid, I just beat you up. Tonight is going to be different, because tonight, I gain my retribution for everything you’ve done to me. The sneak attacks, the put downs, the interferences. Not just that, but all the heartache you put Scotty through to. I am going to make you pay for it all, and your receipt comes in the form of a Chicago Blackout.
So I will see you tonight, Al. I hope you are ready for the fight of a lifetime. Not just that, but I also hope that once this is all said and done, and you are looking up at the lights wondering what went wrong in your grand scheme, that you come to the conclusion that this was all still worth it. I know what you’re going to say. I know you’re going to try to defame me in every possible way, but no matter what, tonight you will meet your own envious demise, but not just that…”
Billy pauses as he stands up.
“Tonight, you will realize that, no matter how jealous you are of Scotty and I, we are the two guys that are about to make things
…
GREAT for this industry, and it will have absolutely nothing to do with you.
See you tonight, Alan.”
He smirks one last time, as the scene fades to black.
