Before leaving for the Atlanta airport, Avery and Serenity were relaxing after having their breakfast. Their bags were packed the night before, so they had a few short hours before leaving for their flight. As Avery sits on the couch watching part of the Olympics, his cell phone rings.
Avery: Baby. Can you get that for me, please?
It was in the kitchen where Serenity was spending some time on her tablet going through baby stuff. He heard her voice, but could not pick up what she was saying. He figured it was his mom or dad, and Serenity could talk to them. That was before Serenity started approaching Avery with his phone in hand.
Serenity: Ave. It’s Alechs.
Avery: Oh wow. Okay.
He looks surprised, but excited. Serenity hands him the phone as he answers it.
Avery: Alechs! Hey man. How are you? I am glad to hear from you.
He listens for a few seconds, and responds.
Avery: Yeah. Yeah. Tone is doing great. He and Keiji- oh you know about that? Yeah. They seem to be happy.
He listens in.
Avery: An offer? Or really? And you are going to-
Avery goes quiet for a few minutes. Meanwhile Serenity heads back into the kitchen to continue what she was doing. The babies were coming in a few months and it was important to have everything ready for the big day.
Avery: That is awesome. I do hope that it all works out. And yeah. I cannot wait to meet her. Serenity is going to love her. And Tone and Keiji? I am sure they will be excited. Tone has no clue. At all. Yeah. He is a natural kicker actually. Something about soccer-
He pauses and listens.
Avery: Oh really? Suspended? For kicking him right- Damn, kid’s got a brutal kick for sure. Yeah. He is going to come along nicely. Have him take part in some shows here locally and hopefully earn a contract one day. And then Keiji is debuting in WCG. He and I are going to tag up for this NGW thing coming up.
He listens for a few minutes more, before he finally responds.
Avery: I have not heard from her, no. I- I am sorry man. I mean she left the comp- yeah.
Avery listens at his demeanor changes.
Avery: I- I don’t know. They both are gone. Did not say much. I guess Devlin made a decision. I mean. It is what it is. But I am sure we’d all be glad to see you back. Meet Allyce. Get together. And all of that.
Avery hears Serenity heading back into the living room.
Avery: Awesome. I cannot wait man. Thanks. Yeah. You too. Soon. We will. Uh huh. Alright. See ya.
He hangs up the phone as Serenity looks over to him.
Avery: What?
Serenity: What, what?
Avery: It was Alechs.
Serenity: I know. He doing good?
Avery: Yeah. He might be back sooner than we thought.
The two of them look at each other as Avery smiles.
