Valentine's Day

Sitting on the couch in their living room is Serenity Miles. The day before, she and Avery found out that they were having twins. Avery IV and Journey. A boy and a girl. Avery was due home any minute from the wrestling school in town. He had been training a new batch of trainees, including the little brother of Alechs Aurelio… Antonio. Serenity hears his truck pull up the long gravel driveway as the headlights shine into the front windows. After a couple of minutes, she hears the driver’s door close as Avery heads inside with his gym bag slung over his shoulder. As he walks in, she sees immediately he has a bouquet of fresh flowers. They were a mix of lilies, her favorite.

Avery: Hey angel.

Serenity: Hey Devil. Was just thinking it was about time for you to get home.

She smiles as she looks at the flowers, as she was thankful she had him, and how thoughtful he was.

Serenity: All done with the school for today?

Avery slides the bag down to the floor and off to the side. He kicks his shoes off and heads into the kitchen as she can still hear him.

Avery: It was good. Tone is learning kicks so well. He is a natural. Keiji is doing great as a trainer. He and I are going to team up for the upcoming Trials tournament. The newbies are coming along well. All is great. And how are things here with my… three… favorite people.

He loved the sound of that. Serenity heard him come back from the kitchen behind her. He had put the flowers in a vase and put them on the coffee table in front of her.

Serenity: We are doing great. Peanuts and I were just waiting for you to come home. I know, I know I should stop calling them Peanuts.

She laughs softly, as she looks at him. She pats the seat next to her on the couch.

Serenity: So what else are we going to be doing tonight? I assume Tone, and Keiji are going to go do something together too right?

Avery: I would assume. Those two are like damn teenagers. You don’t even wanna know.

He shakes his head.

Avery: So… I have a couple of ideas. But they hinge on how my angel is feeling. We can go out and have a nice dinner. I can make a run for whatever crazy concoction of food you want. Or we can head into the kitchen. Put on some music. And I can cook for my girl just like your first time here. Your choice, and I am happy with any of them.

Serenity: Maybe I do want to know how Tone and Keiji are… I mean considering how we were babe.

She laughs, as she takes his hand, placing it on her stomach. She smiles at him as she was thinking about it.

Serenity: How about we go in the kitchen, and you cook for us. Really just any food sounds good right now.

Avery: Okay. Come on, beautiful.

He knew that as her tummy got bigger, she worried some about her appearance. He wanted to make sure that he thought she was as beautiful as the day they had met. He offered his hands to help her to her feet as they kissed. Heading into the kitchen, he helped her up onto a stool as he headed into the fridge.

Avery: Steak. Potatoes. Veggies. How is that sounding?

He looks back.

Serenity: It does sound great. More so the Veggies. I know it shouldn’t take too long either.

She smiles, as she looks at him, before she looks away.

Serenity: How are we going to work out you being gone when it's closer to the due date?

Avery pulls some food out as he turns the gas stove on. He exhales.

Avery: Well… at what point do you stop traveling? And with RC full time in NGW, Daisy does not need to travel with us so that solves that.

He grabs out some seasonings.

Serenity: Well how often would you come home if I stay home, say like after the Paris show?

She was thinking about things in her head, as she was looking at him.

Serenity: At least RC and Daisy don’t need us anymore, but still is nice traveling with people, and not alone at times.

Avery heats up a pan as he chops up some veggies.

Avery: I mean… we can afford me coming home after every show. I spend less time in Europe. Fly out on Thursday before the show. And fly back on Monday. So that is like.. Five days away at most? Thursday through Monday.

Serenity: Yeah that would work out well for us. I like that idea. While you’re not here, we have your parents, Sawyer, Annabelle, Tone, and Keiji. We have things right where we would like them. I know your mom will help with the nursery.

Avery: So that works out for you then?

He slides two steaks into the pan and starts to season them. And grabs his phone and puts on some music, lightly, to add to the mood. Serenity nods her head as she smiles.

Serenity: I am fine with that, it works out for me. Like said least till Paris, or Ireland, either one. As long as I can go. I see no reason it wouldn’t be fine.

Avery: Well at least you will get to see Paris, that will be good. I think after we fly home from there we can get you settled back here. Mom and dad would be happy to check in on you daily.

He smiles as she can smell the food cooking. And tosses some potatoes into the oven to bake, and adds the veggies to a side pan with butter and seasoning.

Serenity nods her head. She also thinks about something.

Serenity: I know they will be. Just wait till the babies come. I will have your parents here all the time.

She laughs lightly.

Serenity: Also check inside of the freezer, your mom brought us over an ice cream cake.

He opens the freeze and sees a small ice cream cake. He shakes his head.

Avery: She spoils you so much. They are going to freak when we tell them it’s twins. I figure we can head over there tomorrow and do that, before we head to the airport.

Avery grabs a couple of plates out.

Serenity: It’s for both of us though. She spoils us both.

She nods her head, as she liked that idea.

Serenity: Yeah we can, maybe have Sawyer and Annabelle to come over there, so we can tell them all at once. I think they will all enjoy the news and flip.

He nods.

Avery: I think that is a good idea. But we can see them on our way out of town. Swing by, and stuff.

He begins to plate the food. First the steaks. The veggies to the side. And he reaches into the oven and pulls the potatoes out. He grabs out some cheese and butter from the fridge. Grabbing silverware and some glasses, he smiles as he stops and looks at her.

Avery: Happy Valentine’s Day, angel. I love you.

Serenity: That works as well.

She smiles, as she looks at the food, before looking at him. She was happy, and glad they were together, and able to do.

Serenity: Happy Valentine’s Day devil. I love you too.
